So after the latest adjustment to make a step in celestial explore only cost 2 meteorite shards combined with getting more in regular explore, I believe everyone has noticed how immediately unbalanced this is due to the fact you still get 5+ shards back for every non encounter step in celestial explore.

The problem before was a lack of shards in regular explore so you couldn't explore in Celestial Explore, I played for several hours right before the adjustment to make a step cost 2 and I can safely say that it's balanced and you WILL run out of shards after a balanced amount of time if each step costs 5. The added collection rate in regular explore just helps you get started in going into celestial explore without using an entire bar of energy to get 10 shards.

I really think the easiest way to fix this would just be to make every step cost 5 meteorite shards again, I truly don't believe any other adjustment is necessary here.

Edit: For everyone saying no support, would you care to leave a comment as to why? Personally I thought this would be a good fix considering the upped rates and the fact theres no way staff wont adjust this.

Honestly I disagree the 5 meteorite shards was a bit over the top mixed with the low drop rates in explore it wasnt balanced in my opinion but now I think its more player friendly and most players arent going to be on 24/7 to hoard up a decent amount of shards for the space explore so the 2 shard cost is a bit more fair

Except the drop rates just got upped, so combining that with the 5 cost would have fixed it. Having both upped rates AND only 2 cost steps genuinely makes it so you can explore forever.

July is an extremely busy event, especially with a lot of people starting the crater quest. While I totally get why 5 shards a step adds a nice level of difficulty to the event, and those who enjoy the challenge will also really like it, but I feel like a better fix would be lowering the amount of shards you get in non-encounter steps in Celestial Explore rather than upping the shards per step.

I can also see a halfway point of 3 or 4 shards, but I find 5 shards to be... exasperating to get. It feels like 2 or 3 steps in CE is worth up to 2gb (Energy boost), which leaves a major part of the event to feel like an exclusive treat more like the raffle lionesses than a mechanic to get EC.

EDIT: idk it makes them feel like arena tokens lol, which I get why people hate, but now they have a purpose?

Yeah, I agree. I think steps only costing 2 is too much of a good thing: we're getting more currency now, but I can't even exhaust all my shards. It's just not balanced right now.

Personally I feel like lowering the return rate vs upping the step cost rate is kind of the same thing, since either way it's adjusting the amount of shards you get, but I can see why a lowered return rate might feel better since then you can start exploring sooner.

also agreed it's unbalanced. I've had upwards of 100 shards the whole time I've been exploring in the celestial explore, it's an infinite explore loop. I don't want it to be as difficult as it was last year but I think this is a little but excessive lol, could use a bit of a nerf.

They should scrap the whole idea alltogether.

It is anoying to take one step and then wait for energy to refill, to do the savannah explore to geth like 10 shards and take another two steps.
Now with the update on the step cost, I gain more shards than I need and am exploring space most of my real life time. This feels unbalanced and exhausting.

No support to the shard step change;
what I wound support, is lowering the gain in Meteorite Shards from celestial explore.

Why?
Because shards from normal explore are needed to START the exploring. I would prefer normal explore levels to stay the same.
And steps are good-priced, if I ignore a dragon monster, Im at least not wasting many shards on it.

BUT the celestial explore also drops shards, and those are kind of redundant? They used to drop 1-3 shards before, that would be the good amount. Less than 10 they can drop now.

But not before nerfing overpowered enemies. Nothing can be evaluated properly until the dragons stop being obliterating machines.

I feel MS should be removed entirely and the dragons moved to explore with higher chances of meeting them at night and AC as a random drop during the day from a meteor encounter.(Artists should not fear their beautiful work is not being seen, when encountering a dragon the backdrops should still be exactly as they are in CE with flavor texts like "You wander into a shimmering portal and find yourself before a Glimmering Shardling!")

But because we have MS right now, I have to say, Im not finding much in explore even with the boost. My last energy bar yielded 15 shards. Thats 3 steps in CE. RNG would then determine if I get battle encounters, more MS or AC. Either way I get 3 steps. I work, so using an entire bar to get 15 shards when Im able to maybe log in twice a day, is not ideal for most players.

Personally, it feels as though MS in Celestial Explore should be removed entirely with a huge boost in regular explore, whether its an increase in drop rates by either boosting the numbers when encountered or increasing the encounters themselves. Then only require 3MS per step. While in CE you would certainly run out of MS under this model and be required to return to regular explore to farm more MS.
