31f super senior here! I joined mid September and loving this game so far! My favorite mutation has to be the folded ears. I’m obsessed with scottish folds!! One of these days i’ll get some lions similar to my 3 cats but that’s a long ways away 😂

For those who've been around the site for so long, how has it changed over the years? I only picked it up earlier this year

Oh gosh, time for me to sound like a grandma.

This site is a LOT different than prior.

Back when I joined in 2013, we didn't have the TC or the image area for all the different stuff (like explore, beetle battles, cub training, etc). Beetles for battling wasn't a thing, nor the gorilla enclave. Cub training also didn't exist, nor the giving tree. We did have the Monkey Business, but no crafting at all. Monkey Business also didn't sell near as much stuff. For games, we had cups and whack a snake and the silver beetle raffle. We also didn't have clans. We did have submale training, though, so that was really the only way of boosting stats besides stat items. Stat items were also fewer than what we have now.

Custom decor came along eventually, but that took a bit.

As for markings, the most "out there" color as the fiery base and maroon, and those already had a good bit of dissenters who thought they were too wild. We didn't have different skin colors (like marbled, butterfly, lavender, etc). Also, the panther markings and vit markings were the hottest ones because they were raffle lioness only and the most "out there" ones we had. Xylax was very vocal about not wanting a green base specifically, so you can imagine my surprise coming back and seeing, well, green lions and the "colorbombs" as people call them.

Mutation wise, before I left dwarfs were just getting popularity. I don't 100% recall if we had all the lethal mutations at the time, but definitely no tigons or leopons. We didn't have reverse breeding, so people relied a lot on traditional breeding and the honor system of getting your lion back, which you can imagine how that could go wrong. We also didn't have piebald or patches mutations, nor any of the primals other than maybe the normal/common one.

There's probably stuff I'm forgetting, but this is what I remember. I'm happy to answer any questions about more specific stuff!

Holy cow, it's super cool you got to see all that development over time. Sounds like in the early days the game was a struggle but I'm sure helped kinder the community. I played Furry Paws for the longest time and I don't know if the site has had any dev updates in years aha. I went back and visited and it felt so dated.

It is pretty cool, and it's wild seeing over 5k people only at any one time and that being.....normal lol. Naturally, I have opinions on some of the changes, but what can you do other than go along with it and play in a style I enjoy. Some of my old posts and suggestions are still up for me to read and it's pretty wild reading back on what were the issues "back in the day" lol. The biggest complaint was wanting stats to have more use (which they still don't) and wanting more SB sinks to avoid devaluing GB (which is still an issue imo).

I used to play on a site called Magistream and that site had it's heyday back in 2010-2013, but now it's a ghost town. At most 100 players on at once, and the forums are quieter than a church mouse. Sometimes I login to see my collection, but there is just nothing to do and grab interest anymore. So, in that respect, I'm glad LD has managed to stick around and stay relevant, I just sometimes wonder at what cost you know?

Hey all

Ive been here a while now, but the pressure of normal life doesnt always allow me to lern the game best.

I am getting there, managing to feed, breed and sort my lions. however something i just dont get yet.

I've been gaining more and more blood beetles for this months challenge/event. Now when i visit the screen it is saying i have 5 shards of evil and can exchange a number for different things, without sounding like too much of an OAP i just dont get the point of some of it, what happens after that,

Please can you all give me some pointers or tips or even maybe just some basics lol.
