Small Hunting Notification

This upcoming Monday, October 17th, we will be adding in an optimisation update to the hunting feature. You shouldn't notice anything different except for the speed of selecting lion placements! To be clear, this update is not live yet, and will not be made live until October 17th.

You can now find 3 new battle encounters for each faction you're aligned with.

If you're aligned with Hell, you can find:
- Chalkydri, the angelic twelve-winged reptile
- Gandaberunda, the two-headed Hindu powerful bird
- Konrul, the Turkish bird of life with a wolf head

If you're aligned with Heaven, you can find:
- Balaur, the Romanian hydra
- Beelzebub, the demonic prince
- Mahishi, the buffalo-headed Hindu demoness

In Tier 4, you can find the Evil, Demonic Altar!
This year, we've added a new set of applicators to craft: Shard.

Shard is a Black Dark Countershaded Special base, tied to Black skin.

Shard Mane Base can also be crafted, as well as...

New Craftable Base

Skeletal is a new base that can be crafted in Monkey Business. Crafting is limited to the month of October only!

All new, non-heaven/hell items can be found in Halloween Bundle.

Its genetics are Cream Light Countershaded Special and it is tied to White skin.

Halloween Bundle Error

At the beginning of the month, we had mistakenly announced that bundle-unique items would be added in today's Development Update. No new bundle-unique items are being added this year. We'll be sure to make a big update to the Halloween Bundles next October!

Noctis Mane Markings

The votes were overwhelmingly positive when we polled about Noctis mane markings in September 2019, and they're here now! If Onyx isn't quite dark enough for your lions, hopefully Noctis mane markings will help you achieve the look you're going for!

All of the markings below are Custom (Tier 1) and can be applied to your lions straight away via Marking Applicators, Marking Replacers, Random Marking Applicators, and Total Shuffles.

Custom Decor Announcements

We have two announcements regarding custom decors today!

First off, we have upgraded our tools to make accepting custom decors faster and more streamlined! No more needing to preview each stage file by hand! This will speed up the process so, so much!

Additionally, due to last week's poll results, custom decor rules will now be more relaxed.

We will still require artists to follow the requirements of trying to match Lioden's art style: soft yet defined lineart, shading, depth, texture, contact shadows, etc. We will still require the artwork to not be pixellated, jagged, or very blurry. We will still require animals to not be stylised, but done as realistic as possible.

However, we often rejected custom decors, even multiple times, for not having enough shading, not having realistic detail (such as wrinkles or shine), not having enough depth for the perspective something was drawn in, or to ask for more refined textures, despite there being some existing texture on the custom decor.

This extra tight process will be gone now. We strived to have deep visual immersion, but it's up to our own artists to achieve that with in-game artwork. The community should create what you love the most, without worrying about nitpicky rejections because of something very small, despite it being realistic enough. You loved it enough to submit it.

We want to address one very important bit of feedback:
The most common reason for a rejection is pixellated effects (jagged edges and sharpness), and we consider this to be due to available programs not having enough softness in their tools, or mobile screens condensing the pixellated outcome that is very visible on other screens. It might seem confusing if you do not see pixellation and your custom decor is rejected for it. Please check your custom decor on a different screen if possible, or try to work in a bigger, original format before sizing down.

Personal Note

This month, Xylax has hired an assistant who will be trained to process mutation and mane files separately in order to unburden the main work on poses and explore expansion. In a month or two after some training, hopefully mutation files will no longer have to be uploaded with a delay!

We've hired a biologist writer for the Battle Beetle Book feature, and we hope that entries will start being filled up soon!

Art Bug Fixes
