My advice is start slow with a small pride then once things pick up slowly start adding more and remember to hunt daily and cubs/adols don't need fed and all lions (adult) only out of the red bar to not risk running (they will have a lightening bolt I con next to their name warning you they will run at roll over if they aren't fed or played with. Save event items to sell or use on your king so you'll get more stud requests (most gb comes from selling event items anyway). Explore as much as you can and just set a pace for yourself/ don't feel intimidated by others I nearly quit a few times myself before I found a style that worked for me.
Also join clans there are many that are open hoard to help with feeding your pride
