Leveling doesnt do much; lionesses will anyway bring better carcasses when in group, even when low 3-5 levels, so leveling up individual lionesses only really increases chances she'd bring back better carcasses if she hunted alone. Sometimes it hurts the chances even, and high level lionesses will only bring back "rare" carcasses with 2-3 uses instead of "common" zebras and wildebeests with 6 uses. So there's really no particular reason to level lionesses up, except for the bragging rights of having a higher level.

Leveling doesn't actually increase stats, as they just passively gain stats from hunting. Iirc leveling them increases the chances they bring back better carcasses

It's pretty much just to help raise their stats to give your cubs a little stat boost when breeding.
