It's always a good idea to take advantage of events! Just as an example from this event: Buffalo Scrotums are a very desired item that can go for 10 GB during the event. When the event is over, they can raise in price as high as ~30-40 GB. I definitely recommend spending your extra event currency stocking up on items and selling them later on.

This isn't necessarily a fast way to make money, but it is a steady one. It's always an option to sell your currency during the event too, as previously mentioned. You just may not make as much as you would if you had waited.

I recommend checking up on the Event Guides on the Wiki and doing a little market research. :)

There are MANY ways to earn SB and GB. None of them are "get rich now" schemes, though.

For example:
* Explore a lot. Sell various things you find there.
* Make sure you consistently send a team of lionesses out to hunt so that you can sell the food (sell on the Trading Center in lots of 100 for the most).
* Make sure you patrol a sub male to sell what items he brings back.
* Sell cubs.
* Give cubs at the Gorilla Enclave to earn Monkey Teeth for apps that you can sell later.
* Sell unwanted apps and decors.
* Learn the market so you can set up raffles and trades.
* DEFINITELY learn the Event market for each month. February is hands-down the most lucrative month for hoarding items and selling later at higher prices.
* Play some of the Games for some rewards.

There are plenty of guides for exactly what to do for earning currency. Just search around the boards or Google and you'll find 'em.

As for breeding Leopons, that's a whole thing in itself. There are plenty more guides about that as well. Again, February is often your best chance for getting a Leopon since many players sell heats of their own Leopons to players for items, and such. If you see people advertising stuff like "Barked" heats, this is it. As for breeding your own Gen 1 Leopon, that takes a looooooot of trial and error, and no promise you'll ever get one.

Another idea for earning currency is breeding for combo bases!
Combo bases are special bases that can appear from breeding certain factors, which can be just common. It means you can create a special based lion without buying a special parent. So no investment, only earning!
For some combos you can just use normal NCLs found in explore, and some basic kings everyone receive at the beginning are combo factors too.

For example: Gray x Cream gives Asiatic base which is pretty liked among players. At the moment when I'm writing this post, Asiatic lions in trading center cost between 10 000 and 18 000

I encourage everyone, especially fresh players to try to earn and this way because in my opinion combo breeding is one of most fun and satisfying mechanic in this game.
