Ive heard a lot about mutations, and from what ive seen I think they're kinda just at random? But there's so many its hard to remember what is what
And also, are some markings more sought after than others? I see that a lot in the trading post where people have a marking the lion has in the name, is it similar to how the bases are like common/uncommon/rare and stuff?

Hi! I started about 7-8 months ago, and my biggest tip is don't go too crazy on spending your currency or valuable items. When I started, I was eager to sell my valuables and it would've been a lot more lucrative for me to wait to sell (for example, event items can go for a whole lot mmmore if you wait a month+ to start selling).

Additonally, I was SO eager to build an expensive lion, and I jumped the gun on creating my main account's lion (an Interstellar king). And in all honesty, if I had been more patient in gaining resources to build that king, he would be a LOT more valuable than he is right now.

So tldr, take your time!! No need to rush in getting cool assets. Save up, and take your time to learn what's valuable and what isn't so you can consider all your options before you commit to buying/selling things. Welcome to the game :)

On mutations:

It depends! Most mutations *are* random, but most can also have a higher chance of being passed on if the parent has that mutation.

Primal mutations are tricky, I'd suggest reading the wiki for that.

Patches/piebald can be passed down or random, same with things like folded ears, overgrown tongue etc etc.

On markings:

Yes some are more sought after! A good example would be rosettes since they're hard to breed and can't be applied with an applicator - but they're very pretty so people spend a lot of money on them. Markings don't have 'labels' like bases do, but it's pretty easy to guess and learn what's considered desirable!
