I don't believe it does—my understanding is that specials pass 1% of the time no matter what the genetics when paired with common bases. 2% when uncommon or rare and 4% when paired with another special. I don't think genetics really have anything to do with it.

Anyway, I'm mass breeding with NCLs because I'm bored, so I don't really care about quality. Going for quantity lmao.

For him to pass his base, it would be better to breed with other golden light solid bases, as that will increase the chances of getting his base by accident, as well.

A golden light solid X a red dark countershaded could produce a red light countershaded, a golden dark solid, or some other combination, but a Golden light solid X a golden light solid is always going to make a golden light solid.

Genetics have nothing to do with pass rates! I double-checked the wiki because I felt crazy but yes, specials have a flat pass rate that's got nothing to do with other genetics.

Still, it's definitely insane RNG luck. I don't understand how he can spit at a 1% pass rate but make a random double like that XD
