I’m not entirely positive lmao. I’m fairly new and haven’t read any of the wiki pertaining to genetics or anything. Melanistic mutation would work as I’m looking for a mostly to all black female! I don’t have much time to play during the week except for a bit on work breaks and in the evenings so I’ve been slowly going through the wiki on the weekends but like I said, fairly new, maybe a few weeks in!

Melanism cannot pass without a Lion Scrotum, and even then its a 25% chance, Lion Scrotums cost about 27-30 gold beetles so often aren't accessible to new players without buying GB. You can buy a Melanism pretty cheap, but if you want black bases/genetics to play with I would go with Noctis or Ebony which look like this;
