I've waited a couple of days to see other people's response to this, so here's my opinions on the poll.

You knew the poll would fail. There was a suggestion before to remove or replace the triggering encounters that got downvoted to hell. That's why the one requesting a toggle was made, which was seen far more favorably. People will always be resistant to change regardless of what the change is.

"Why do you care about mature things on a 16+ site"? Well, I was abused and now such things tend to trigger me. I cannot articulate the amount of distress THINKING about Febuary has given me. It has made me not want to play Lioden at all, as others have discussed. "BUT IT'S 16+" 16 is still a minor. Even if it isn't graphic it has way more detail than needed. I'm sure some players find it funny or "realistic" but I have yet to see a reason to not accept a toggle as an option. When I think about mature entertainment I don't think about sex jokes, I think about engaging storylines, interactive worlds and respectful discorse.

And to add onto the "slippery slope" thing, why is it a bad thing to offer accessability?

And support to what @CC said, sure, this is a 16+ site but it might trigger some people. Agreeing with @CC, I also recommend a button to where you could hide the encounters that might trigger you or others. (Elaborated below) It really isn't fun when you miss out an event cuz of some encounters (especially when it's the month everyone grinds for HS for breeding items and etc). That way more people could play Lioden without getting triggered/wanting to leave.

A suggestion for this is making a dropdown box or something next on the event page. When clicked it could display catergories for possible encounters in Lioden during Feb (E.g. Flirting with the lionesses from explore (E.g. Luna Del Ray), comforting slapped lions, and uh mating encounters) and you could just check-box the ones you DONT want to encounter and you wouldn't see it in Explore) I know it probably takes a LOT of coding and maybe money too, but I think it'll help and make Lioden more enjoyable for everyone who has a similar view to what was shared above <3)

bro just because something is 16+ doesn't mean you should just sit and accept everything. some adults don't like cursing. some don't like to see animals having sex (and there is big discourse around it when it is drawn, I do see good amount of people be uncomfortable with that. didn't saw such discusion on LD but elsewhere in art circles... it can get heated...), and be thrown sex jokes. be it realistic depiction... or no.

I don't consider myself (sex repulsed) ace, but I emphatize and relate with them a lot as I had some bs from other people. it just isn't fun when you aren't into it, but it is MAIN thing of month when you can make most profit. so we are locking out people because "hehe you can't handle horny lions lmao". toggle doesn't harm anyone. you can still have your encounters with no issues if you want. but let people have that option, let them control their own space - yeah sure, blocking images... on desktop, and who gives a damn about people who are on phones....? if we can have marking block which again... affects no one except making it better for people who need it, then we can have toggle for this encounter

I am personaly not too bothered by encounters, I stopped caring (I would surely not like to have these pop on screen and have to explain why are there drawn lions mating. and no mom... I did not draw it....) but people who are bothered, deserve to have option to not see it. I don't see need to redraw it or completely removed - just drawing of them not mating or whatever for people who don't wanna see it. or make it easier for artist, slap a bush and switch with some other encounter, or whatever

We apologise if the poll came off as insulting to some of you - this was never our intention.

We're taking the feedback into consideration as a form of 4th poll option (as it does consider leaving the encounters as they are, but still addressing a lot of votes that want some form of change), and thinking how to solve personal player experience, perhaps not only in February. It won't happen by 1st, but I appreciate your comments and thoughts.

I understand that toggles seem like something very easy/obvious to add everywhere and I promise if that was as possible as on Wolvden, we'd do it already for quite a few of things. ;0; I play games too, I do love me some toggles to customize experience, I really understand. Especially as a person who suffers from visual migraines, even a simple toggle of a layout/font does wonders for me (this is why I designed the Desert layout)

Players have rights to their personal feelings, experiences and have a right to feel uncomfortable by something not very conventional, and we'll keep trying to address that, if we can. I cannot promise yet how it will work, because we just started designing an idea based on your feedback, but we'll try to make it work.



To address "wokeness" of Lioden though - well, we have a Pride month in the game, and I am gay myself, as well as a lot of staff is LGBTQ+, so this game is woke by default, sorry if it bothers you, but I won't back down from trying to make everyone feel represented and included here, as much as it is possible within this game's lore, mechanics and quirks. This is definitely not a main feature of the game, but it will be treated as something as normal and as obvious as anything hetero, as a tree, as cubs playing, because that's how I want my world to be.
It's OK to be sensitive. We all should be a little more sensitive to make the world nicer. I don't see anything wrong about that.

Perhaps if a toggle for each individual encounter is not possible to code, a less specific, "Disable Images in Explore" would do the trick? It would hide all art, but then, those who are too bothered by something can have the option to hide it, without it needing to go into fields not possible to code on Lioden. It can be a placecolder toggle for those who upset enough to stop playing the game because of the art; yes it will hide the rest of the art too, but if coding a separate toggle is not possible, it could be the only option.

Edit: that would also give toggles to everyone else unhappy with any encounters; dont like the art this month, disable all art and browse. Thinking of it, even I would use this toggle if it was added. Sometimes my internet is so laggy, loading each image could break the page. Would help boost exploring during the times when internet is too slow. And I imagine mobile users will also use such toggle a lot, since mobile internet is very slow at times.

I dislike the poll option, because as some people said, it was gonna fail. I think the explicit encounters should be replaced with other encounters. Love is not purely sexual and I think that should be a bigger focus. I think that any sex references should be more vague.
Sex is not the problem, but the problem is that this is a 16+ site with minors that are probably even younger than 16, and drawing animals having sex is a little weird, weird in the zoophilia way- not calling the artist zoophiles, but there shouldn't even be the question of such especially if it's only for sex jokes and valentines. It'd just be better to make sure no one can interpret those encounters ars other than jokes.

I have been informed that I was misunderstanding some encounters, and for that, I'm sorry for spreading any misinformation. I would like to propose something else. I believe that some encounters should have more obvious consent. This is because I know many people can interpret things in many different ways. I think the wording could be changed, which wouldn't be too code-intensive. For example; if you help the lioness, the text could say "The lioness seems grateful for the interruption, having ended the long and embarrassing encounter. The lioness and dwarf walked off together, discussing different ways to make it work next time."
I think this shows why the lioness is grateful and that she was indeed interested in the dwarf.

A customizable user experience might not be in our immediate future, but having the reassurance that it will be taken into account is all I personally feel is needed. We all know the recode is immenant, and honestly, having it on the to-do list now rather than after launch is more sane.

People want to feel validated. I think that's normal. It won't be possible to cater to each and every particular thing that makes users uncomfortable, but at least addressing the most common ones, will help.

AJGecko - you misread the encounter, the lioness IS interested but she is getting annoyed at how long it takes the dwarf to proceed. She's angry that he's so short and takes too long to do it, because he cant reach her. Reading the encounter clears that up, one of the options says: "The lioness eventually crouches low enough for the dwarf to succeed, and they notice you only after the deed is done. " that means she IS interested if she crouches for him, he's just too short for her and its not exactly working as smoothly as she'd have liked. A lady has a right to be annoyed at her man if he takes too long to get to the, ahem, the deed. It is in NO way implied to be unwilling.

Mad Hyena got to it before me, but yeah, I think she was just more annoyed or unimpressed by the size of the dwarf and/or how long he was taking to do the deed. To me, it doesn't look like she isn't interested, she just looks annoyed. And nowhere in the text does it say she's uninterested.

Also just wanted to point this out since this isn't the first time I've seen someone complaining about this encounter in particular.

I dont know why people would say that? Her face literally says "Oh hurry up already, Im waiting!" The encounter does not hold a word that could imply its unwilling.

Mad Hyena - why is the lioness grateful when you interrupt and break up the moment? She even passes you a gift of gratitude. Shouldn't she be more upset that you interrupted them? It feels like she feels forced to mate with him and just wants to get it over with.
If that was not the intention, I think that should be made clearer. The lioness even looks unhappy with the whole situation.
