Morningecho:

As the PineClan leader took his leave, a word of thanks was offered in his gratitude for her input on the day, the feline flicked her tufted ears, watching as the tom padded from the den. A warmth oozed thickly through her body, like honey on a warm day as a newer respect blossomed within her for their honorable leader. He had banded them, sticking the group together and leading them to a newfound home, and here he had taken pawsteps in a direction that ShadowClan should've taken moons ago. Listening to the counsel of his warriors, hearing their words and perspectives, and constructing his own opinion from their views.

It gave a spark of faith in the she-cat, something that had previously only been reserved for StarClan, and those of her mother's blood. Morningecho had almost purred, yet the sound was strangled in her throat as the uniquely patterned face of Hawktalon stuck her head inside of the confined space.

Bewildered by the cats that seemed to have a newfound fascination for the Healer's den, Morningecho watched the molly offer moss to Gentlebreeze, and the fur on her back settled from the urge to prickle. The older she-cat had a similar mentality to her, the distrust and calculation both traits learned from time spent in ShadowClan, but unlike Morningecho, Hawktalon had the luck to have experienced their old home before the fall, and could see exactly when the tides changed to prophecize their downfall. Since the silver-striped cat wasn't here for her, she lifted a paw and began to lick the rough pads of her paws, cleaning between each pink bean of her toes as her tongue rasped over the callous skin.

As Hawktalon took her leave of the den, Morningecho's eyes rose from her task of cleaning her paws of the staining blood, to watch as Gentlebreeze gracefully worked around her den, piling the moss into it's designated spot, her serenity was mesmerizing. The molly almost wondered if there was a time where she was as utterly calm and carefree as Gentlebreeze expressed herself, unruffled by the turmoil or the intensity of a warrior's life. Perhaps, in another life where ShadowClan didn't crumble due to their own hubris and greed, Morningecho would have been shaped into a different cat. But, in this life, she was exactly who she was groomed to be.

Better.

Lavender-hued eyes snapped to the movement of Nettlesnap rising to his paws, favoring the injured one as he tried to mask the ripples of pain in his musculature with each step, and the air of arrogance that was exuded from his very pores was answered with a mocking glower. The fact that the tom was even capable of walking away with a bruised paw, showed the quality of the cat before her. After all, in his cowardice and hurt pride, he had risked the lives of the cats he slept beside in the warrior's den, betraying the very concept of a code as well as revealing his true colors. After all, a tabby doesn't change his stripes, and Nettlesnap made that abundantly clear. He was a tom that was out to save his own fur, even if it meant leaving his clanmates for dead.

Pathetic.

Licking her lips as she watched the foxhearted rogue leave the den, Morningecho wondered why he hadn't received reprimand, or punishment, for endangering the life of his clanmates, and abandoning them in the heat of a fight to sit on the sidelines and lick a bruise. If the tom wanted to act like an apprentice who sulked because another had made their mentor proud instead of him, perhaps he should live like an apprentice for a moon to remember his honor, and the code. Yet, that decision would fall to Owlstar, and the earlier respect fizzled with the thought that the tom's behavior had been endorsed by the lack of action to correct it. Scrunching her nose, the molly rested her head upon her paws, movement catching her eyes as she watched Gentlebreeze's gaze cast out to the camp beyond the den, microexpressions flickering across her features as she seemed to almost panic.

'I'm gonna go out and look for some herbs. I'll be back later.' Gentlebreeze gave her reasoning for her reaction to the setting sun, and Morningecho's gaze narrowed as the Healer padded from the den, uncertainty bubbling within the she-cat as to the reason that it had been dire to leave to pick herbs this very moment. Perhaps, she had realized she was lacking a vital herb in her stores, and she wanted to retrieve it before the sunlight completely vanished from the skies. Huffing out a breath, Morningecho made a mental note of the behavior, and closed her eyes now that the den was empty, and the peaceful silence enveloped her, relishing in the solitude that remained.

Nettlesnap

The tom's brow furrowed, watching the leader with a puzzled expression, no longer bothering to hide it. The change in atmosphere was subtle but even he could notice it. His ears pricked at the sudden question and he glanced at the bird under his paw, debating just using the easy answer and saying kestrel. But this was the first actual conversation he'd actually had with Owlstar. It added a lot more pressure onto him to try and not say anything wrong or give the leader a bad opinion of him-

'Anything is fine. I liked eggs though, the chicken ones. from the nofur farmers.' Nettlesnap meowed softly and glanced at the leader, hoping he knew what he was talking about. 'But I'm not really picky.. being picky in a time like this wouldn't do any good.' He curled his tail around his hind paws, the black tip twitching nervously every few seconds. Most of his words were true, he wasn't fussy. he'd eat anything. other then frog. and baby birds. or sparrows. or rat..

Owlstar

"I'm not sure if I've ever had an egg." Owlstar mused, trying to think back. He had seen them, of course, but looking for eggs in nesting season had always been more of a Thunderclan thing, as birds usually preferred to nest in the more food rich thunderclan territory. "Was it hard to get the eggs, or did the nofurs just let you take them?" Owlstar sat quietly, relaxing slightly as the conversation moved on. But Nettlesnap seemed even more nervous, tailtip flicking enough to get on Owlstar's nerves. Some of the Pineclan cats, Moringecho likely included, would be expecting Owlstar to punish the tom for his behavior. To be honest, Owlstar wasn't sure quite what he would do yet. Whatever he decided on, however, wouldn't be announced to the clan. No cat deserved humiliation like that. He shifted slightly, trying to ignore Nettlesnap's flicking tail as he thought, waiting for Hemlockshade to return.

//I forgot I did this so um yeah

Hemlockshade can tell he's on the right path because of the low murmur of conversation that separates itself from the sounds of nature. Not that he had any doubts, tracking was his thing, and he could smell Nettlesnap and Owlstar quite well; their scents combined yet still distinct. A long the way, he caught other scents, some faint and some more clear.

He approaches with his caught mouse and squirrel; holding them in his jaws. Now that they're both here, he suspects that they'll be heading back to camp soon.

Nettlesnap

The tom lifts his head a little, his ears swivelling at nearby sounds. 'The nofurs reallyyyy didn't like it. They set up a bunch of traps and everything. and poison. but it smelt disgusting so it wasn't that hard to avoid..' He shrugged. He'd never been great at conversations, there was never any need for it when he lived on his own. Nettlesnap paused and sat down reluctantly, stepping on his tail to stop it flicking.

His attention shifted to movement nearby, the scent of another cat and prey being hard to ignore. The tom gave a quiet meow of greeting to Hemlockshade, his gaze continously flicking to the prey the older tom held in his jaws.

Owlstar

He smiled slightly, imagining Nettlesnap darting away from an angry nofur, gripping a round white egg in his jaws. He picked his frogs back up, moving them from the dirt where he had dropped them to a softer patch of grass. He allowed the conversation to trail off a little, listening to the wind dancing through the trees, and the distant chirping of birds. The two cats sat in silence for a few moments, seeming to be fine with it, before Owlstar scented the return of Hemlockshade. Excellent.
"It looks like you were successful as well!" Owlstar's mew was somewhat muffled by the frogs he carried, but able to be heard. They still tasted amazing, and Owlstar couldn't wait to get them back to the freshkill pile, perhaps even suprise a clanmate with one as a small gift. Getting to his paws, he ran over the plan he had made one more time. As soon as possible after they had returned to camp, he would gather up the clan to present the prize. He had chosen to award Palewind with the large fang he had found, in order to award her strength and courage. The announcement of more training would follow a little while after, during the feast, ideally while the beaver was being consumed, to soften the blow a little. With his thoughts in order, Owlstar got to his paws, ready to return to camp.

Hemlockshade's scarred ear twitches when he hears the greeting from Nettlesnap, sparing the tom a glance. He's got his head lifted up so the prey doesn't drag and make him trip; eyes hardening at the continuous glances the prey is given. He doesn't know why they're happening, and the conclusion reached isn't particularly good. He turns his head away, answering Owlstar with a grunt.

"Huntings good. I wouldn't have minded staying out longer." Perhaps he'll go for a walk later on tonight. He's already found a pretty nice spot where he likes to relax. The prey there is a bit scarce, but the forest is plentiful in various areas so it's not like he'll have trouble finding something.

He watches Owlstar rise and turns away; begining to walk the way back to camp. It'll certainly be a feast tonight. It's been awhile since he's went on a hunting patrol with others, such a weird feeling to be doing so. It almost reminds him of the way he'd watch warriors bring back prey in their jaws when he was a kit. Ah. Those were the days. It was such an odd feeling, to remember Shadowclan before it fell. He just hoped that all this hard work wasn't for nothing, and that this attempt at a new home failed too.

Owlstar
He turned slightly, making sure Hemlockshade and Nettlesnap were following, before continuing along the forest floor, following their scent trails back to camp. They hadn't been in the territory for long, and Owlstar was trying his best to build a mental map of the mountainous forest, while still attending to his leadership duties. He ran over what he would say while awarding the prize over and over in his mind, still keeping an eye on the forest beyond, making sure not to trip on any protruding roots or small stones. It was truly a nice stretch of land, the large tracts of forest blanketing a large mountain, leaving only a few large cliffs to interrupt the endless expanse of trees. Only the Twolegplace, almost a day's journey from Pineclan's eastern border, was a stain on the land. Temporarily distracted from his thoughts of how to present the prizes, Owlstar wrinkled his muzzle in disgust, almost losing his grip on the frogs. Kittypets were such filthy creatures, almost unfit to be called cats. Eating pellets that looked worse than rabbit droppings, locked up in twoleg dens, unable to even smell fresh air without a nofur's approval. If not for the frogs, he would've growled. Instead, he forced his fur to lay flat,
and relaxed. With luck, he wouldn't ever have to even scent a kittypet on Pineclan territory.

Toby
He breathed in the damp air, idely grooming a paw. His housefolk had started to water their plants with the hose again, now that most of the winter rains were over, and Toby enjoyed watching the small droplets hit the dry soil, catching the sunlight as they fell. He yawned, leaning into a strech, before hopping off of the small deck chair he had been lounging on, and padding over to the small cat door installed in the strange looking backdoor. It was made of the same hard, clear stuff as the windows, something Toby had learned the hard way. That was one of his many mishaps that ended up in a vet visit. He entered the twoleg den, pushing through the cat flap into a large, sunlit room, lined with some soft pelts, and a couple more chairs. He ran right up to his twolegs, winding around their legs with a purr, before walking over to his midday meal. He liked the pellets well enough, even though they could be a bit dry, and was almost halfway done, before he glanced back up at the window, and noticed the sun was high in the sky.

He had a meeting today! Excitement shot through him, and he sped for the cat door, quickly exiting the twoleg den, fur spiking with anticipation. He couldn't believe he had almost forgot! He paused in the lawn for a moment, grooming his fluffy orange coat with a few quick swipes of his tounge, before jumping over the short fence that marked his territory, and padding into the woods, heading for the predetermined spot, nearby a patch of thyme, where the two cats had first met. As he walked, he thought about when he had first bumped into the strange cat. She had been rooting around in the thyme patch, muttering under her breath, when he had slipped up behind her, before playfully batting her with a paw. He had been quite surprised when she had reacted with a hiss, but after they had both calmed down, they had quickly gotten to talking. She was just so interesting, with her beautiful flame-pointed pelt, and a name that rolled perfectly off of the tounge. Gentlebreeze. She wasn't from any kind of twolegplace, or any group of rouges or loners he knew.
He continued along, thoughts filled by the beautiful soft blue eyes that so perfectly complimented his own.

(This was a Chonk of a post but I enjoy forbidden love, what can I say?)

(Ooh secret girlfriend)

Nettlesnap

The tom briskly padded after the rest of the patrol, trying his best to put pressure on his leg and keep up with them. The bristling of the leader's fur made him uneasy and he was tempted to ask about it but decided otherwise. He grabbed the kestrel in his jaws, avoiding biting into it too hard and drawing more blood. Or maybe he should draw blood and give the bad meat to a cat he didn't like. Options, options..

His ears prick at Hemlockshade's words and he ruffled his snout in silent disagreement. who would want to stay out in the open like this? He didn't even know the territory, it was terrifying. Despite his fear he took no measures to begin learning the territory, finding it a waste of time. Strangely enough the clan bloods thought otherwise. But what was the point of knowing where every tree in the forest was? There were plenty prey, they might as well just go wherever and just catch something. No need to spend time giving names to every location in the territory.

Gentlebreeze

She padded through the forest, her tail swishing happily behind her. Her paws itched to run, but the chance of a thorn in her paw kept her from doing so. She purred at the memory of meeting Toby for the first time. He had slunk behind her, and batted her playfully. Gentlebreeze had hissed at him, but she could immediately tell this kittypet was different. His beautiful, bright fern green eyes, his flame colored fur that shined in the sunlight... It was silly to admit, but upon seeing him, she immediately fell for him.

Yes, it went against the medicine cat code... But no one else needed to know, right? So far she'd been good at keeping their meetings a secret. Even if she did get caught, no one could stop her from being with him. She believed they were meant to be together, even though it was hard. Gentlebreeze hoped he would agree to come live in the forest with her, but she knew he wouldn't. Even if he joined her clan there was little to no chance they could be mates. The feline shook her head, ridding herself of her thoughts.

Her tail perked up, waving in the air as she smelled the powerful scent of Thyme, along with the sweet scent of Toby. Her paws hurried and her eyes glistened with love as she spotted his beautiful flame-colored fur. Gentlebreeze padded towards the tom, her blue eyes bright with affection.

Hemlockshade walks idly after the group, taking sml yet purposeful strides in the direction of camp, head occasionally turning to look at the view. It was so different from Shadowclan, though he supposed that was probably a good thing. If anything, they really didn't need a second Shadowclan..

When they finally arrive to camp, Hemlockshade heads for the fresh kill pile. He sets both the mouse and squirrel he caught down; before moving away. He wasn't quite tired despite the previous beaver ordeal, feeling an odd sense of restlessness that he knew meant he wouldn't be sleeping anytime soon.

Toby
He lit up upon seeing Gentlebreeze enter the clearing, a soft purr leaving his throat as he smiled, fur still slightly scruffy from his quick exit of the twoleg's den. He admired her beautiful flame-pointed coat for a few moments, breathing in her now familiar scent of herbs that clung to her coat as he nuzzled her fur. "My housefolk gave me a bit of trouble for leaving during mealtime, but I wouldn't miss our meeting for anything." Toby didn't know all of it, but he did know that the group Gentlebreeze was with wouldn't want her out here with him, and she had to slip away whenever they decided to meet up. "How was the walk here? Run into anyone?" Toby smiled, still purring, as he pressed his muzzle back into her soft fur. Occasionally he wished that she would join him in the twolegnest, but he had realized after a while that Gentlebreeze, although she loved him, wouldn't enjoy his comfortable life. Her spirit would wither away, and the life in her bright blue eyes would dull. Toby couldn't do that to a cat he loved.

Owlstar
As they returned to camp, Owlstar noticed that not every cat was in the clearing. Placing his catches on the freshkill pile, he glanced around the camp, just to make sure. Hawktalon still hadn't returned from her little hunting trip, Owlstar's patrol just having missed her, but a look at the medicine den confirmed his thoughts. Gentlebreeze wasn't in camp. A little odd, considering she had recently asked Hawktalon to gather some extra supplies, but preload there was some specific herb she needed. He resumed his former perch up in one of the small pines, keeping an eye out for Thrushtail. If his deputy didn't show up soon, Owlstar would start the prize giving without him.

//Might pause Owlstar until Shuichi worshipper can reply

Nettlesnap

He padded into camp, kestrel in his jaws. His tail flicked from side to side, prideful of his catch as he dropped the bird on the pile after Owlstar. His gaze flicked over the camp for Palewind whilst he stood by the prey pile, grabbing two mice by the edges - far enough away from the gross frogs Owlstar hunted. Where was Palewind? His eyes trailed over the clearing, confusion behind his eyes. He edged away to make room for other cats passing by, paws itching at the ground. Palewind had won the beaver thing and he hadn't given too much.. congratulations. As much as he hated doing so he felt guilty. The she was one of the few clan bloods here that didn't look at him like some tree rot.

hey now owlstar dont get suspicious ))

Gentlebreeze

She bumped her head against his shoulder affectionately, breathing in his sweet, comforting scent. "My housefolk gave me a bit of trouble for leaving during mealtime, but I wouldn't miss our meeting for anything." his voice was soft, and loving. Gentlebreeze purred, wishing they could always be together. "Oh you," she laughed, licking his ear affectionately. "How was the walk here? Run into anyone?" Toby asked, with a shining smile. "You know I wouldn't let anyone see me." she purred, "No one came to question me, they always think I'm out looking for herbs." she pressed her muzzle back into his soft fur, copying him.

Gentlebreeze's heart hurt. She wished they could always be together, but she knew he wouldn't like her life, nor would she like his. The flame pointed siamese couldn't imagine herself playing with twolegs, or eating those dry pellets. She couldn't see Toby fighting in battles either. She pulled back from him, looking into his mesmerizing green eyes. "Have you ever thought of our future?" she asked, looking away. Her heart was pounding against her chest now, she hoped Toby wouldn't take any offense. "We can't always be sneaking out." she murmured, avoiding his eyes. She didn't want to see the disappointment in his eyes. She'd always dreamed of having kits, yet she knew it was strictly against the rules, and she didn't want her kits growing up without seeing their father everyday.

Palewind

The she cat was still lying next to Rustbelly, she was debating on what
To do now considering she had upset the she cat a little by talking about her deceased mate. She sighed softly looking towards the entrance of camp and her ears perked a little as she thought about going back outside of camp.
Surely no one would mind if she caught a couple extra frogs or something right? She asked herself as she looked back at Rustbelly for a moment before rising to her paws and stretching.
