What are Gilded Lions and how can I tell if one of my cubs are one of them?

"Gilded" can either refer to a lion's base or markings, those being the Gilded base or marking set. There is no additional meaning. If the lion has neither, I'm not sure what they're referring to.

Gilded lions aren’t a thing in that sense, but the person you heard it from was most likely referring to the base, gilded. They were most likely talking about lions that had gilded as the base, hence gilded lions

I've seen some up for trade so 2000 SB or 2 GB. Are they worth that much?

If you've seen 2 GB valued lions, then its likely Gilded marked lions rather than Gilded base lions. Gilded bases start from 15 GB currently on sales.

Gilded marks however arent worth much themselves. 2 GB was probably a cub that either had a lot of Gilded marks (4+), had other special traits like bases/eyes/other special marks, OR was overpriced. Because a single/few gilded marks arent worth much, and go for fodder prices usually if they're the only good thing on a lion. Gilded marks have an applicator to add them (Sparkly Gilded), and arent boosting lion's value much to have them - unless the lion has other special traits.

Yes, as one of the "special" traits a lion can have; other special traits to consider are:

-Special base is the most sought "special" trait, some Rare bases are wanted too
-Other special/T2 or rosette marks
-Special breed-only eyes
-Special breed-only skin ("Skin" is nose and paw color)
-Breed-only mane shape
-Mutations

-Stats, to some extent; having slightly higher stats wont make a potato cub wanted, but having dramatically higher stats (numbering in thousands) will make a cub more wanted
-Another thing to consider is Heritage, non-inbred shorter heritage lions tend to sell higher than longer heritage lions with inbreeding

I am seeing some people post about their lions being gilded and then I don't see that word anywhere when looking at the lions make and model. I am still confused about gilded and why they are special
