After a magical instability happened creatures or to humans monsters, crawled out of rifts from their world into the human one. The humans being frightened of these so called monsters send them to facilities to be studied however more and more of them began escaping hiding themselves amongst the humans, however they all have their own section of town that they live and thrive in near the facility away from the humans. Although a few humans venture too close and find the creatures thriving. Now of course remember there is always the possibility THAT YOU CAN BE SENT BACK TO THE FACILITY! (Your choice of course pm me if you wish for that to happen and have your character escape or stuff like that again) Also you were out there under the illusion that the government wanted to make sure the humanoids were safe and healthy and not going to hurt people but they just want to learn how they can weaponize their existence or use it against people. Though that might be discovered later in the story and the characters will find a better place to hide from the government. Humans have mixed emotions about the humanoids, some strongly dislike them while others don’t mind their existence.

So far species can be anything you character can also just be human! :)
