Since we have season and month restricted combos, why not have karma restricted combos? Once you're past a certain amount of karma, there's no further incentive to push your karma levels further. Meanwhile, there are not a lot of benefits to staying neutral, and it's also difficult to stay neutral. So, I'm suggesting karma combos as an incentive to either push one's karma levels further or stay neutral. (Maybe if you're beyond a certain level, or are within a certain range if you're breeding for a neutral combo, you could get a small 1-2% boost?) Note that breeding for these only accounts for the karma of the stud. If your lead is not the sire, your karma doesn't factor into it. For the first ones, I think it would be nice if the factors included July and October bases since those are the months whose storylines most revolve around a good/evil/neutral trichotomy Luminous Golden Light Countershaded Special - tied to Pale skin ![]() Base shown w/ Dawn eyes and White skin Factors: Dawn/Serruria/Festive/Cherry Blossom/Heavenly x Angelic/Citrine/Sunspot/Teardrop/Sulphur The ultimate "good guy" base. I just thought Angelic and Dawn would make a nice combo and extrapolated from there. How to obtain Breed the above factors while the stud has a karma level 1200 or above. Smolder Red Medium Countershaded Special - tied to Welsummer skin ![]() Base shown w/ Sunglow eyes and Red skin Factors: Sunrise/Ember/Fiery/Rhubarb/Astral x Bloodbourne/Sunset/Maroon/Cinnabar/Rufous (wdym there are no uncommon Red Solids) Nice, bright and fiery How to obtain Breed the above factors while the stud has a karma level between -1200 and 1200. I added more applicator and non-special factors to make it easier to breed for since I suspect that a neutral combo would be the hardest to breed for Tenebris Black Dark Solid Special - tied to Ink skin ![]() Base shown w/ Cosmic eyes and Black skin Based loosely off of Brocken spectres Factors: Jellyfish/Nadir/Incense/Interstellar/Divine x Demonic/Styx/Haze/Cimmerian/Noctis (I'm less sure on Interstellar, but I couldn't find a more suitable dark blue base that isn't Ice so) How to obtain Breed the above factors while the stud has a karma level -1200 or below More base ideas here Edit: replaced Alabaster w/ Festive bc I think it fits Luminous's theme better |

It is true that people could purchase them from other players, but some people would prefer to breed them themselves. I'd love all of these (especially Luminous!!) in the game, but not for them to be locked behind karma. Maybe instead this could be based on the personalities of the king and/or queen? Never mind, my eyes managed to skip over a good chunk of the suggestion. I can read, I promise. ![]() ![]() Edited on 08/04/24 @ 11:58:10 by TheClassCalico (#88888) |

I mean, they can still send stud requests to lions w/ the required base + karma range? ![]() |

@Kreech. I managed to overlook that entire section. I've changed my vote. ![]() |

This might be applicable but just messing your karma up a tiny bit (say you go a few points under the threshold) without noticing could ruin several combo breeds ![]() |

I mean, 2 of the bases are partly meant to incentivize pushing one's karma levels further if one wants to do mass combo breeding or attract other combo breeder stud requests, since breeding projects seem to be fairly popular Also, if your karma is between -1000 and 1000, chances are you'll miss out on at least the 1000/-1000 karma explore encounters ![]() |

Yes but say you’re at +1000 karma, explore a little, and squish a warthog for food, then go back to mass breeding. You remember the warthog and that whole batch of lionesses is wasted. Also, how would we know other people’s karma? We already can’t see it, so the karma stud thing would need that to change ![]() |

It costs 50sb to reveal one's current karma; it's not a big loss, especially since anyone who can do mass breeding or have a valuable stud is likely to be at least fairly wealthy already. For a mass breeder w/ a factor base, all they have to do is spend 50sb to check karma (100 if they need to adjust it), then breed any compatible lionesses in heat. For a stud, chances are that their stud price is already significantly above 50sb, especially if they have a special base, and they can adjust karma once for multiple combo breeding requests Also we have multiple storylines that incentivize drastically increasing/decreasing karma depending on your choices, namely July and October, which is also why I included July and October bases as factors so that it's not too much harder ![]() Edited on 08/04/24 @ 13:14:43 by kreech (#430477) |

HUGE support! I'd love more uses for karma and these bases are beautiful ![]() |

Unfortunately did not support. I want to piggyback off of what air conditioner said, I think its a good idea but it’d be far too complicated with the stud in terms of karma managing since its something that fluctuates so often and easily. The third base I feel is also too dark, and not really compatible with many popular markings. ![]() |

🌸•ʜᴇʀᴀ•🌸 (#180043) I mean, it's kinda meant to be a neat challenge like the other combos as well as a possible incentive for players to push their karma further, either to breed them themselves or attract stud requests. And as far as manageability goes, compared to month/weather/time based combos it's more accessible since one can breed for a karma combo at any time, there are several months that focus on karma levels depending on your choices (July and October especially, and to some extent August, September, November, December, & January; that's 7 months at minimum that can help you get to and maintain the karma range you want) making it easier to , and at worst it only costs 50sb per scry to make sure one has the right karma Also, Tenebris isn't much darker compared to Styx, Cimmerian, or Noctis, any markings that work on the latter bases should also work on Tenebris ![]() |

Conceptually I think this is really strong. While I agree checking karma isn't too much of a hassle there could probably be more intuitive ways to implement the -/+ karma affects; i.e. implementing them alongside a challenge with -1000 to +1000 karma that lasts x duration of time. I would also suggest tying them in with heaven/hell/neutral alignments in October, but I feel like October already has a lot of month-specific combo bases lol. I can see some confusion between studs/customers-- should maybe be some notification above the king if the affect is working. But again, I feel like it isn't much of a hassle. My primary concern and the reason I didn't support is because of the designs themselves. Even putting my biases against colorful bases aside for smolder, the color choices for the first and third base are too dramatic for Lioden. Eyedropping the hex code for the first gives me #FFFFFF, which is just pure white, and the second as #01000A, just a few margins from #000000. There's a few reasons people don't usually use pure blacks/whites in art, especially with realism: 1.) They just don't exist in nature; even the darker shades of black in animals are deep shades of brown, blue or some other color. Xylax has followed these same rules for his in-game art. the difference between pure black and super vibrant lions is the same reason you can see a lot of hypersaturated paintings, but still no "true" black in realistic art. it just looks a bit jarring. 2.) You don't need to use harsh colors to convey something being dark or light. If you look at any realistic paintings (or really, art that isn't super cartoony), pure black and white is never used. Even in baroque art, which completely rely on the dichotomy between light and dark. ![]() Yea, we're talking about sparkle-pixel lions on a petsim, but the same idea applies. It's also almost as dark as the pose outline and makes it hard to differentiate base+lineart, and likely a lot of markings. Maybe there's some novelty to a "vantablack" lion base but it'd still likely be a bit off from pure black and be just as effective. ![]() I really like this idea, I just think the colors would need some adjustments. ![]() Edited on 11/05/24 @ 13:22:12 by Pajarita (#138867) |

id like to suggest instead of karma, you could use personalities instead, this prevents the need for worrying about constant checking and fluctuating, especially with the neutral base. But I also agree with Pajarita, I think the dark black and bright white should be toned down, even on bases like Noctis you can see the color undertones, the only base I can think of with that much pure white is probably albino! ![]() |

Frickin YESSS TENEBRISSSS! Some suggestions- make it an event quest line during December like vredfort crater and invasion of spots but keep it month specific? That way people who don’t care about karma mechanic/don’t want the bases/ prefer more natural themed gameplay don’t have to worry about it affecting their playstyle and it keeps it to only happening to people who want it. Also maybe make the karma margins narrower/ a little higher for good and evil potentially while also boosting pass rates? That way you aren’t just hoping on luck to hit the 1% success rate and you have more control over boosting your chances for the trade off of having to keep your karma numbers under tighter control? And for people saying that it’s too easy to have failed breedings if you mistakingly fall under/over your wanted threshold, well I would honestly way prefer checking my karma before all the desired breedings to ensure I have a chance at the base rather than just winging it; over just hoping RNG is kind to me with the smaller pass rates, cuz tbh it’s not kind to anyone but a select few ![]() Also- it’s more incentive for people to buy the karma counter so they can see their gains/losses and it’s no longer just bought within the leaderboard karma grinders groups Also also- I chose December because it felt fitting with the whole naughty/nice vibe (coal or colorful for good and evil) which fits well with karma I think lol ![]() Edited on 28/07/24 @ 19:14:23 by Anxiety (#159571) |
