Bio Example A
A lost cub transformed into an archivist King, Lore’s is the rumbling voice heard over a crackling fire at the embers’ final flare. He lulls his pride to sleep with tales of lions who became legends, gorillas who cracked poachers’ guns over their knees, and visitors from beyond the stars. He is a gentle guide, a song of hope, and a student of the world around him. As the very first Lorekeeper, he embodies all the traits of a dedicated archivist: patience, attention to detail, and boundless creativity. He has founded a pride dedicated to empathetic lorecraft. History, he believes, will speak for itself– but only if it is accurately recorded.

Lore believes in creative storytelling as a form of preservation. He is humble enough to know that he will not live forever. Therefore, he hopes to pass down the knowledge he has gained from life even after his body has left the savannah. His empathy can occasionally translate to naivety, which is cause for concern, especially since he has an entire pride to care for. He fears the type of arrogance that has led other Kings to govern their subordinates with an iron fist. Luckily, many of the lionesses surrounding him are able to make up for this potentially fatal flaw. They push him towards decisiveness when harsher actions are necessary. His enemies may interpret this as weakness, but Lore himself insists that it is a mark of true leadership to defer to others when their expertise far outweighs his own. It's an unusual method to be sure, but it has worked thus far. Hopefully, it will continue to do so long into the future.

At this time, Lore has no apprentices. He is very much aware of the fact that should he take one, that lion is likely to be elected as the next King. Therefore, he must not take his decision lightly and wait for the right prospective lion to exhibit the qualities necessary to take over Pride leadership.

Lore’s primary partner is Lyric. She was the first lioness to exhibit interest in his pride’s project of keeping archives and records of the wilds. He met her during a particularly harrowing exploration in which he was almost killed by a pack of hyenas. Instead of mocking him for his defeat, the kind Lyric tended to his wounds, healed his pride, and asked if he had come to the grasslands alone. He began to ramble about his mission of lore-keeping. Enraptured by his verbal sparring skills, Lyric decided to accompany him home. The two have been inseparable ever since.


Bio Example B
A song lilts on the early morning breeze. The glowing carnelian lip of a savannah sunrise kisses the horizon. Its embers reflect in a pair of violet eyes alight with sharp cunning. Lyric awakens with the first bird calls, weaving delicate harmonies on the wind. Her vocal talents are hypnotizing. From crowded concerts to lullabies for restless cubs, this lioness bleeds her entire soul into every performance. She can be a little vain when it comes to her talents and gets frustrated whenever anyone interrupts her warm-ups, but at the end of the day, she believes in using her gifts to delight and entertain others. “I’d be lonely without my fans,” she jokes. Lyric knows that music should always be shared.

When asked where she learned how to sing, her responses are often mischievously evasive. Much of Lyric’s past remains a mystery to most of the Lorekeepers. Lore is the only lion alive who knows the truth. She was left to fend for herself, just like him. She was abandoned early enough so that she would’ve died were it not for the leopard mother who took her in. Mourning the recent loss of her only cub, the leopard– Aria– took care of Lyric until she reached adulthood. Her surrogate mother was the one who taught her how to sing. They were inseparable until the lioness reached adulthood. Both felines knew that it wouldn’t be healthy for Lyric to live with a lone leopard all her life. Thus, when the opportunity came for the young chantress to join a pride of lions, she and her mother bade each other farewell. Lyric still visits Aria from time to time. The latter is very proud that the former has found a place at the side of a King.

It wasn’t exactly love at first sight for Lyric when she first met Lore. He had no pride to call his own– only a territory large enough for a handful of lionesses and cubs. Furthermore, she discovered him half mauled to death by a pack of hyenas! Needless to say, she wasn’t impressed. However, once he began to regale her with tales of the pride he planned to build, she was intrigued. The talented singer found the idea of storytelling fascinating, especially since he listed music as one of the archival methods he hoped for the Lorekeepers to use. The more they talked, the more Lyric gradually found herself falling for the humble, kind-hearted creative. Eventually, she realized she had found her King. They returned to Lore’s territory as equals and have been working hard ever since to build the pride they envision.


Pride Lore Example (From My Pride)
We are the keepers of stories. The scribes and orators; the singers and poets. We are the silent eyes trained on the precipice of dawn. We do not shape the weave of events, but merely delineate its pattern. Each new horizon brings with it both the glorious and the mundane. It is all vital. It shall all be recorded, immortalized in the repetition of each stanza and phrase; frozen and unchanging in the unending archives.

Lost in the wide expanse of the unforgiving savannah, a lion cub stumbled upon a cool, dry cave. Inside was a group of baboons crouched over several pots containing a dark, viscous liquid. The cub approached warily, hoping that the primates would at least allow him to rest in the shade for a few moments. He knew not the significance of the gathering he had chanced upon– nor could he possibly comprehend the ways in which his luck and his fate were about to change forever.

The cub was Lore, so named by the aforementioned baboons after they nursed him back to health and told him of their plans for his future. They were historians of a sort, whose keen eyes constantly observed the comings and goings of the surrounding wilds. They kept records of everything they witnessed on the walls of their caves. Detailed illustrations combined with odd scribblings that Lore would later come to recognize as writing spoke of occurrences that dated back further than any lion could possibly comprehend. “We keep the lore for our own,” the elder baboon revealed, “and soon, you will for yours.”

The clan of baboons taught Lore how to learn by watching and listening. They cultivated in him a respect for life, death, and everything in between. They taught him all the various ways in which one can preserve information, knowledge, and memories. Once he was old enough, they sent him out to create a lineage of lions dedicated to persevering the history of the surrounding territories. Lore’s goal is simple: he hopes for his pride, along with many others, to be looked upon with empathy by the outside world. He builds his reputation through storytelling, recordkeeping, and artistic prowess. The Lorekeepers, led by their wise and gentle patriarch, know of your past. They know of your deeds. They have patiently observed and painstakingly passed on every detail.

This is a pride of storytellers, knowledge-seekers, and creatives. In this pride, lions learn, write, and sing. There is no wrong way to tell a story. There is only the multitudinous archives and the endless expanse of information that lies therein.
