Back when I had a Tsavo king, I noticed that when I do the "Shake Mane" action while claiming NCLs, the flavor text doesn't exactly... fit. Yeah, Tsavo isn't exactly what I would call big and fluffy lmao. Showing off every inch of your fur? My boy, you HAVE one inch of fur 😂 So it got me thinking: what if we could have unique flavor text for the different mane shapes? Pros: > It would give more game presence to mane shapes besides breeding and appearance if your king doesn't have a lab test frog applied > Perhaps it'd be kind of fun to see what lionesses think of different mane shapes? (No actual difference in claiming chances) Cons: > Could be a bit of a pain to implement if the current code isn't designed to differentiate between mane shapes when claiming lionesses > Some people don't really read the flavor text (haha, I'm guilty of this) The spoiler below will have an image of each of the current mane shapes as well as a potential unique "success" and "failure" flavor text for the Shake Mane option: As always, I love hearing feedback and additional ideas! What other pros and cons can you guys think of? And yep, I ran out of ideas for flavor text at the moment :V Currently a work in progress. ---------------- My other suggestions: Masterpost here |

Very cool idea, support!! I'd love it if more of the flavour text in-game depended on the characteristics our main lions have :-) 1 player likes this post! Like? |

Adding flavour text for different mane types when claiming doesn't seem worth it for the amount of work likely involved, but I would support making the text read in a way that does not imply the shape or thickness of the mane, as I do agree that the existing flavour text is a little odd for short mane lengths like Tsavo. 1 player likes this post! Suggestions for incubus: Success: You shake your fluffy mane, carefully highlighting how well it frames your face. My, aren't you a handsome devil? Failure: You show off your mane with a devilish grin, but the lioness doesn't seem impressed. Maybe she's not into bad boys? 3 players like this post! Like? |

I support the idea. Here's a few fail suggestions I came up with: Razor: You shake your sharp mane but the lioness is unimpressed and insults your ugly mane with her razor tounge. Ouch. Sideburn (really diving into the burn part): Your mane made the lioness laugh at you and ask if your mother still helps you with your mane. But Mummy/Mommy said that you have a very handsome mane. Katanga: Thanks to your mane, you couldn't hear the lioness telling you that you had a feather sticking out of your mane. How embarrassing. 2 players like this post! Like? |

Suggestions for Savage: Success: You shake your mane to let your rugged good looks do the talking. The lioness steps closer, perhaps she enjoys bad boy types... Fail: You shake your mane but your roguish looks seem to annoy the lioness instead. Perhaps nice guys don't always finish last after all. Katanga success: You rustle your mane to emphasize the length and softness of each shaggy lock. This mane can steal any Maasai girl's heart, and it's a hit with this lioness too! 1 player likes this post! Like? Edited on 21/06/24 @ 15:14:57 by kreech {dorsal boost active} (#430477) |

Crested Success: You vigorously rustle your mane to accentuate its punk look. The lioness pads closer, fascinated by your distinctive spiky ridge. Fail: No matter how much you shake, the lioness just asks if you're trying to hide a thinning mane. Ouch... Heavy Success: You toss your head to highlight the weight and density of your mane. It seems to work, lionesses dig thicker manes. Fail: You try to shake it but the heavy fur smacks both of your faces instead. The lioness steps back from you, scowling. Regal Success: You shake your mane and let it settle to show how smooth and neat it naturally is, piquing the lioness's interest. Fail: Despite your efforts, your mane doesn't seem to impress this lioness. She says it looks a little greasy, are you sure you actually washed your mane? Transvaal Success: It's short, but shaking it enhances its fluff and thickness. The lioness approvingly comments that it looks just a little roguish. Fail: You give it a shake, but the lioness rolls your eyes, saying it reminds her of a runaway idiot she knew. Aw come on... Hellraiser Success: Shaking your mane shows off how tough and intimidating the spiky tufts look. It works, and the lioness seems excited to watch! Fail: You shake it but the lioness looks more focused on the tufts on your rear. She asks if you get it dirty often, with a somewhat disgusted face. 1 player likes this post! Like? |

Tufted fail: The lioness laughs at your mane. When you ask, she comments on how silly the tufts look and asks if anyone taught you to groom. You say that's how your mane naturally is, and her laughter gives way to disappointment... Wavy success: One toss of your mane and you let the waves settle gracefully around your face. It catches the lioness's attention, and she approaches you with fascination. Regent fail (playing off of the name): You shake your fluff, but it doesn't stop the lioness from remarking on how scruffy and underwhelming your mane is, certainly not worthy of a real monarch. 1 player likes this post!
