I'm a terrible example because I feel like *most people* breed one before I did, but it took about eight and a half years + well over 10,000 CRBs. (I've done 2600 since November alone on my main account) I do think it's usually around the cost if not more on average to breed your own vs buying one.

If you want to for sure get a first gen in the most GB-financially reasonable way, I would hands down say buy! Some people do 10 barks and get one! Others are anywhere in between that and my own journey, or even beyond. RNG is just fickle sometimes.

I'd hands down say WORTH IT to breed your own if you want to feel a sense of accomplishment! I don't regret pouring the resources of grinding events and selling lions/items to afford the project as long as I did even a bit.

But from the standpoint of "I just want a first gen," I definitely (personally) think it's safer to buy one!

Woof... I don't know if I have the patience for that.
I'm perfectly chill with getting a hyrbid with a long gen (I try not to be picky in games that are so heavily luck based like lioden), but breeding a g1 just sounded pretty rewarding I guess. In that case, I'll probably just buy one soon - I already went through around 35 crbs and I'm getting frustrated.

How do you afford breeding projects? At some point in the future I'd like to have enough consistent breeding projects going on that I can fund all of the needed items and such in-game by selling cubs; but I'm pretty far away from that right now and I'm not sure where to start. I have a good amount of gb that I won from a raffle squirreled away to use for crbs once jaglions are released, but other than that I'm a bit lost.

Sorry if anything I asked was a bit silly, this is the first time I've tried to tackle a bigger lioden project.

sorry to jump in here, but i do a lot of grinding during events, buying valuable items, and then selling them at least 2 months later. it also helps to do comms if you do art, css, or writing. it can sometimes also be worth it to buy a high value king and getting lots of stud requests.

A “free” way to do it too is mass breed VLF NCLs! Every single breeding can result in a first gen. The items certainly help, but there have been plenty of folks to breed one on accident just by mass breeding! You can always do that while you save GB so maybe you might get lucky before you buy one.
