Does anyone else get a little annoyed when you take your first few steps off of a full energy bar, and then at 96% energy you get the encounter that gives your king +15%? Because I do! Especially when the game does it to me more than 10 times in the last few days! Thank you for the scraps of energy I guess, but I would prefer the infinitesimally slightly higher chance of an event encounter instead, perhaps

Logically, I think it wouldn't make any sense for such a well rested lad to wake up fully refreshed, take a couple steps, and then lay down for a nap. ??? Bro, if you are going to sleep on the job AT LEAST make it worthwhile and get the whole 15!

So, to preserve my own sanity, I'd like if the +15% energy encounter was only able to show up if the player has 85% energy or less. Could also include the +4% one but I don't feel as bad when I get that one at 100% energy lmao

Edit to add: I am aware this would be an overall lowered amount of energy if it was just purely restricted from appearing from 15% of your energy bar, so perhaps they could alter the rate of getting the encounter ever so slightly, so that you'd still be able to get it roughly the same amount of times between 0-85% energy as you would have between 0-100%.

For example, let's say there's a 1% chance of getting the encounter. If it were increased to 1.15% (a 15% increase to compensate for the 15% energy between 85 and 100) it should theoretically be roughly the same before and after. Even slightly better for people who explore mostly below 85% energy anyway.

I don't have a strong preference either way for this though I'll support. I'll just say getting up after a traditionally long sleep and then immediately taking a nap is something I do

98-99% & then a wasted 15% is certainly no fun.

I don't really mind 85-95% getting back up to 100%, those extra steps or few can sometimes lead to an event encounter so it kind of evens out
... sorta, for more extra clicks

I am happy for every little bit of free energy I can get, so I would actually prefer to keep it like it is right now...

I can understand that! I also enjoy getting small scraps of energy (I use Candid personality to get 3% energy for each NCL claimed) but my motivation to make this suggestion is that it just feels bad to not get the full 15 from the encounter. The game says my lion has regained 15% energy, but nuh uh!

The SUPER annoying thing to me is getting it at 100 energy because it really only negates the energy loss of a single step. Though it still feels rather disappointing to get what could have been 15 energy, but is instead only like 5. Especially when it's mostly out of my control.

In order to not be at a net 'loss', they could alter the rate of getting the encounter ever so slightly, so that you'd still be able to get it roughly the same amount of times between 0-85% energy as you would have between 0-100%.

Maybe it could be coded, that if you get it between 86-100% energy the text says:
You take a short nap, gaining +[x] energy.

[x] being the missing amount of energy you would need to get back to 100%

what would this fix really? there's not a limit to these encounters so it wouldn't do any good to reduce how much we get it, a boost is a boost.

It would fix the angry feeling I get ;D

Technically it would not reduce the number of times we get it (if they adjusted the rate slightly to compensate like I mentioned at the end of my previous comment), it just wouldn't pop up when it wouldn't give its full energy benefit. Which would free up a tiny chance of an event/exp/carcass/whatever encounter instead of like, 2 energy.

I don't mind as much when I get it closer to 85-90 energy because that's a rather substantial amount of energy gained back, but I figured restricting to 85 would make the most sense as a suggestion as otherwise I'm not sure where I'd draw the line of "useful amount of energy regained".

no support.

every time the free energy encounter pops up is a net positive. even if youre at 99% energy, thats still a free explore step you can take that you wouldnt have otherwise had. it adds up over time.
removing that is a net negative, and would harm energy yield in the longterm.

If they adjusted the rate to be about same as the current between 0-100 energy except only between 0-85, it would be a net positive, wouldn't it? Because instead of screwing folks out of 14 energy, it'd always give 15 energy with the same level of frequency as it shows up now.

...IF they adjust the rate haha

Um no???
Correct me if I'm wrong on the math with this, but you have the chance to get this encounter at any point between 1-100 energy. Changing it to only show up between 1-85 would have a NEGATIVE effect on the rates as it now shows up 15% less often. If you get the effect at say 90% energy, that's still 10% FREE ENERGY that you would NOT have gotten otherwise If coding had it show between only 1-85...

People are even suggesting that the 15% energy get changed to a lesser number- whichever number fills up your bar, if the 15 would otherwise push it over the 100% limit- and I'm honestly so confused... people would rather gain less theoretical energy overall in this scenario than see themselves lose out on additional energy that made it over 100% that came from a completely FREE encounter...

Keep in mind- this encounter gives free energy. No payment was made to gain this, and no loss is suffered if you don't gain it. (Even the absolute worst case scenario would have you gaining it at 99% energy, which as someone pointed out, is still one additional step, so still a benefit.)
Not only that, but nothing guarantees something good out of this bonus. You could gain the 15% energy, and all 15% roll explore steps that are only flavor text and leave you with nothing.
It all just comes across as people not liking their free bonus that did not need to be given in the first place because it 'theoretically' could have been a bigger bonus...

To better show where im coming from, im going to lay out 3 scenarios-

Scenario 1: the 15% energy boost works how it does currently. Energy percentages 1-85 all gain the full 15% bonus when this encounter hits; energy percentages 86-99 still benefit from gaining this bonus, at the cost of partial bonus loss as the bonus hits the energy cap. You end up with 100% no matter what between this energy level bracket.

Scenario 2: the 15% energy boost only shows up between energy ranges of 1-85%; these still function as the first scenario, and you gain the full bonus. But the bonus has no chance of rolling between the percentages of 86-99; meaning there is NO possible energy bonus gained at all, whatsoever within this range.

Scenario 3: the 15% boost between 1-85 still applies; however, between the energy ranges of 86-99, you can only gain a boost amount that directly corresponds to your current energy level between this given range. E.G you are at 89% energy, you can only gain 11% energy from this encounter, pulling your energy percentage up to 100% at the end- EXACTLY like the first scenario. The only difference between scenario 1 and 3 is the amount of coding needed to rework the existing encounter to calculate your current energy level, and how much energy to award you; and the only effect this would have gameplay wise is giving users peace of mind that they didnt β€˜lose out’ on X amount of energy that they would not have been able to utilize regardless- in ANY of these scenarios.

*As a note to prevent potential confrontation- this is not coming from a place of hostility, but rather confusion as the suggested mechanics seem like worse options than the current set up. the caps locks characters are meant to highlight key points, rather than come off as yelling.
