Hey everyone!

I noticed that some of the lethal mutations are conitions in which people live with regularly. I think it would be not only beneficial to the disabled community to have lions that have their condition (like limb differences, cleft palate, deafness) not be labelled lethal, but to be able to have them as funtioning lions. It feels a little ableist to put these conditions as lethal and/or non-kingable. Prides take care of each other :)

Hi. I fully get where you're coming from in a sense, along with that prides can take care of one another.

The thing is: humans have access to accessibility items that can help them if they have a certain disability. Wild lions do not have access to these. If a lion is incapable to keep up with their pride, they either die due to starvation or dehydration. I feel like it is wrong to try to apply anthropological (human) qualities to wild animals. It is not ableist, this is how things work in nature. A lion with cleft palate cannot survive in the wild without human assistance. I recommend investigating how these mutations appear in wild lions before making suggestions like these based on human experience, not animal experience.

I feel like I should add that I am disabled as well.

The thing is, this is a fantasy game with so many unrealistic elements. Not real lions. The prides are the people behind them so they cant be anthropomorphized. And there are plenty of examples of lionds surviving with disabilities. Nature isn't always that cruel

Do you have any sources of the animals living/surviving with severe disabilities? Lethal mutations (in game) aren't like, mild versions. The cubs' systems are not properly developed at all. There's almost no way for a cub with 5 limbs to get proper exercise - as a newborn the limbs are certainly too heavy, and the bones may be shaped in a way that makes it impossible to actually move much anyway. Cleft palates don't have the proper mouth muscles developed to be able to suckle. Deaf lions can live a rather long life, but out in the wild if it can't hear anything, it's highly likely for it to meet an untimely end from some other animal.

If a cub was born with only one in extra limb? Sure, it could probably survive like any other lion. Or if they were born with a slightly clefted lip but can still function almost as well as any other cub, that lion would probably survive too. But they're not implemented that way in game. The mutations exist in the most severe form that not even humans might be able to survive with medical assistance.

Nature is, for better or for worse, almost always terribly cruel by human definitions. It's just survival.

I support individual suggestions that say deafness shouldn't be lethal because that one feels strange when blindness, for example, isn't lethal, but the strictly cub lethal mutations are tragically very severe. The health notifications say a lot. Mind, I think it's a bit strange to have sad baby trophies as a gameplay feature, but I don't hate them and lots of people love their sad baby collections.

There are, as far as I know, a few custom decorations that mimic lethal mutations as adults. Cyclopia and cleft lip come to mind!
