Auto-Reveal Hidden Markings in Cubs if BOTH Parents Have Them Unlocked I would love to suggest a change to the hidden marking system. Currently, it costs 500 SB per marking to reveal slots 11-20 on cubs, which can cost 5000SB if all slots need to be unlocked. This can be difficult to afford for many who play, since I don't think having disposable SB is very common. I would have to spend nearly 35,000SB to unlock all the slots on cubs I want to keep for my breeding program. I think this cost is unattainable for many players who can't dedicate hours upon hours to the game. (I myself am online much of the day and barely waste energy and on a good day I earn ~1500SB. My other half works a full-time job and is online as much as possible and gains only ~700SB a day.) I suggest that if both parents already have any hidden markings revealed, that any cubs born from the pairing should automatically have those same hidden slots revealed without an additional cost. For Example: Parent A with slots 11-20 unlocked is bred to Parent B with slots 11-20 unlocked so the cubs are born with all hidden markings unlocked. or Parent A with slots 11, 12, & 13 unlocked is bred to Parent B with slots 11 & 12 unlocked so the cubs are born with slots 11 & 12 unlocked, but 13 and up are locked. Why I think this would help: 1. Reducing SB Costs: It's relatively hard to accumulate Silver Beetles, especially when many players don't have an unlimited amount of time to dedicate to the game. Spending 4000-5000SB just to reveal all 10 slots on each cub can be overwhelming and unaffordable for many players. 2. Breeding Efficiency: If both parents already have their slots 11-20 revealed, it seems logical that the cubs born from them should inherit the same trait automatically, without having to pay again to unlock them. 3. Encouraging Breeding Projects: This change would make it easier for players to pursue breeding projects without being bogged down by high SB costs just for revealing markings. What are the downsides? 1. Revenue Impact: Lioden relies on SB sinks like the marking reveal feature to maintain the game's economy. If players no longer need to pay to unlock slots 11-20 for cubs, it could reduce one of the SB sinks, potentially impacting the game's economy. 2. Complexity of Coding/Implementation: Implementing this change might require extra coding and testing, especially if the system has to check if both parents have their markings revealed before applying the effect to the cubs. It may be seen as too complex for what it adds to the game. 3. Player Feedback: While many players would welcome a system that saves SB, there could be some who enjoy the challenge of uncovering markings and see the current system as part of the breeding strategy and gameplay. A change could take away from that part of the game for them. So there are downsides, what other options could help improve this feature? 1. Reduce the Cost for Revealing Slots Instead of removing the cost entirely, the SB cost to reveal hidden markings could be reduced. I'm not sure of a specific price, but something less than 500SB. This would allow the SB sink to still exist but reduce the overall cost. 2. Option to Reveal All Markings at a Discounted Price Implement a button that allows players to reveal all hidden markings on a cub at once at a discounted price (e.g., 4000 SB to reveal all 10 slots instead of 5000 SB individually). This would still maintain the SB sink but provide a bit of relief for those working on larger projects or who want to save some currency. 3. Hidden Marking Reveal Item Introduce a new, moderately priced item (such as a "Marking Magnifier") that players can use to reveal all or some hidden markings. This item could be purchasable via SB/GB or offered as a rare event reward or part of daily quests. This would keep the system in place but give players another way to unlock markings if they're low on SB. 4. Marking Inheritance Chance If both parents have their slots 11-20 revealed, add a chance (e.g., 20-40%) for their cubs to be born with those slots already revealed. This retains some of the challenge and SB requirement but offers a chance for a reward if players invest in breeding lions with revealed slots. These alternative approaches can still maintain the balance of the game while making the marking reveal system more player-friendly and less financially burdensome, especially for those pursuing long-term breeding projects. TLDR; If both parents have marking slots 11-20 revealed, any cubs born from them should have those slots automatically revealed too. This would reduce SB strain and encourage more active breeding projects! I hope this suggestion can make things easier for everyone trying to breed beautiful lions with unique markings! Thank you for considering this idea! Please reply with your reasons for supporting or not supporting - I am hoping to have an open conversation about both the possible benefits and issues with this idea!! |

I love this idea but I do also understand the game economy angle, because you're right, a huge change like that could really ding the game economy. I think the more middle ground idea of having a chance that parents pass unlocked slots sounds the best, maybe in conjunction with an item that can boost that chance, much like ochre powder can boost the chance of a marking passing? I'm sure that may be complex to code in but the whole concept is definitely something to consider! 7 players like this post! Like? |

It's never been a concern for me since I'm not too fond of markings above slot 11 myself, but I know some people just love breed-only marking above slot 10, and some people wanting to make crazy bomb lions needs those extra slots. I totally appreciate the SB sink, but if you're doing a project, that's so much money. I already hated needing to buy so many eye and skin salts. I like the idea of parents passing their hidden slots if both have them unlocked, but I also think the idea of a game item Γ‘ la honeycombs from Shuffle sounds really fun. (Though honeycombs are also available in event stores, still.) Catnip can be a disappointing win from Shuffle considering the others in its bracket, so maybe a theoretical item could take its place while it drops to a lower score tier... but I digress. ETA: Iirc, I heard they were looking for ideas for more breeding items, so? 5 players like this post! Like? Edited on 20/09/24 @ 22:48:30 by π€ leon (#208511) |

BEGGING for this, I have a quad rosette who has 2 of her rosettes on hidden markings (sigh) and I NEED THIS since one of them is a slot 15! 2500SB to reveal one? No thanks! 3 players like this post! Like? |

I donβt think Iβd support unless it was a breeding or Oasis item of some sort β a big part of each marking costing 500 SB is, like you said, the economy, and the more markings/decor on a lion, the longer it takes the page to load (could potentially cause site loading issues). Also, money sinks for projects are a big part of Lioden. Mutations are the first thing that comes to mind, but looks breeding is huge as well. 2 players like this post! Like? |

I support! It's so expensive to unlock the hidden markings for both parents, only to not be able to reap the rewards of breeding them without having to shell out more SB for the cub. Also, this could even add more value to lions with hidden markings since they would affect appearance from the start, and that could potentially boost the economy. 2 players like this post! Like?
