Please explain how a web-based browser is going to send app-based notifications?

I ask this genuinely, because most web-based browsers (especially a lion game with most of its code from 2012-2013) will not have the capability?

I feel like this would make a lot more sense if lioden was an actual app, which it isn't. Theres also a lot of players who don't play on their phone and play primarily on pc. Now, if lioden sent you an email everytime, I could see that being very annoying. I like the idea, but it doesnt really make much sense with lioden being a browser game and all

I don't really know how they would do it, but I have had many trusted websites ask if they could ask to send notifications to my phone!

Yes, but Lioden's current coding cannot do it. A Majority of the code is from 2012-2013, the recode is months if not years away (they've been working on it since 2016 and we're only just getting updates now in 2024). Lioden's current notification system also only works when you refresh the page to see it, at which point you're already playing the game and so a push notification would be moot anyway, no?

A lot of the websites that send push-notifications now are usually for their adverts/offers/new posts etc, I don't think it could work on a site that only updates your inbox etc when you refresh the page. It'd be really neat to have push notifications (as long as they can be switched off), but Lioden is primarily computer/laptop based it seems code-wise (as they were a lot more common than smartphones when it came out.)

Another thought I had; timezones. If my phone binged at 3am because someone offered on my trade I MIGHT riot. Especially as I can't have my phone on silent/Do Not Disturb as I'm an emergency contact for my dad who had a heart attack earlier this year.

I'd also riot.

The only thing that I would get a call for would be my sisters or their families. Or mom if heaven forbid something happens. My dad is deceased.

But I also value my sleep on days off work. So probably wouldn't like a notification at 3am or earlier ^^;

Plus I thought about how it could be abused, if you're sending a push notification every time you offer/send a stud request, whats to stop you removing and resending repeatedly to force more notifications?

That is true. People could spam message to get you to see their stud request or trade offer faster. Blocking or reporting can help that, but it would still be very annoying to deal with.
