Super Smash Stats: Your Guide to Statting

This is the official Super Smash Stats clan stat guide! It has been available on google docs for several years, but for the sake of simplicity, I am now putting it into forum form so our clan members have easier access to the guide.

Since getting the final Asterus and now Mørketida onto the Leaderboards, I’ve often been asked what guides I follow to stat up a G1 like I do. The truth is, I don’t follow any guides. Never have. However, I do follow my own routine that seems to work for me, and it appears as though the time has come to share it with others. Most of this I picked up on my own, simply from understanding how LD works, but two things in particular (about freezing a stat king and about raising NCLs) were given to me as advice from other players and will be marked as such. I take full credit for the rest of the information in this guide, as it comes from my own observations and experiences with statting. Because of that, some of this might be unconventional, or it might be totally standard for statters. I really don’t really know since I don’t talk to other statters. Hehehe….. oh well!

Before we start though, I have some advice for you. First of all, don’t be fooled - statting is hard work and takes a lot of time to see results, making this a long-term commitment. Your first stat king won’t be great, and that’s ok! Just like with anything in life, you won’t be very good at first. You’ll learn from your mistakes and improve over time. As an artist, I like to equate it to drawing. It’s very easy to compare yourself to others and only see your shortcomings, but you CANNOT do that. You can only compare yourself to YOU. That way you can see how much you have improved over time compared to your past self.

One more thing: If you happen to look at my kings, remember that you’re seeing the end result of more than three years of experience as a statter. My first stat king was kinged with 3k stats and ended with 5k stats (before I understood the importance of leveling and impression boosts). He really wasn’t very good, to be honest! I've come a long way considering I retired Asterus with around 10.7k stats! However…. I knew I could do better. I messed up a few things while training him and while he was a young king, but I learned and used this to improve my next G1 king. Now Mørketida is sitting with nearly 19k stats - quite an improvement over his predecessor! Long story short - only compare yourself to you and just keep aiming to improve!

I highly recommend reading Parts 1 - 3 in full before kinging your submale. Parts 4 and 5 are totally optional - consider them to be extra credit or even future goals once you get good at statting! You might be reading this with a cub, adol or submale already in training, and that’s fine! Be sure to read Parts 1 and 2 anyway so you make sure you're getting the most out of your heir. Regardless of how long from now you will be kinging your boy, please read Part 3 as soon as possible. I will be giving advice in the king section that you need to plan for in advance of kinging your heir, so make sure to read it in its entirety.
