Healer: Healers prefer to exhaust all curative options before resorting to... more drastic resolutions - sometimes to a fault. They often end up putting themselves in danger, working to cure even when all seems lost. They may even choose not to hunt monsters at all. EVERY member of the coven however, is trained in self defense - regardless of specialty. Nearly all healers stray away from wearing bright clothing, as their focus is saving, not fighting. The only exception to this is white (which the beasts find blinding), and may rarely be worn beneath cloaks. Healers typically have a certain type of curse/ailment they're especially good at combatting.

Hunter: Hunters are well... hunters. They may not always enjoy slaying the cursed... but they're usually damn good at it. Hunters (depending on rank) may wear brightly colored clothes beneath their cloaks - both as an act of defiance, but also as a way to take a monster's attention should the situation call for it. All hunters are still trained in healing magic, but few have extensive knowledge of it. Some hunters have a sworn foe - something from their past they relentlessly hunt. You would be wise not to get in the way of these ruthless predators.

Ranks Explained

- Luminary: This is our leader, Lucille. The officers know some of her story, but no one quite knows all of it. She is the most experienced of the coven, being the founder and all. Don't let that intimidate you - she loves us all fiercely and is never afraid to laugh or share stories among our family. Her authority is rarely questioned - she has unmatched skill with a blade and is an exceptional healer. Often away on one task or another.

- Officers: These are sort of like Lucille's council. They make decisions in her stead when she's not around, and head up training of initiates. Most officers wear brightly colored clothes under their cloaks and have earned the right to do so. They will be the first to throw themselves into harms way to protect their charges, and often come out victorious. Most of them have a signature weapon, crafted of lightsteel.

- Rangers: These guys make up the majority of the coven. They're not initiates, but they're not nearly as experienced as the officers. They might rarely have an item of bright color beneath their cloaks, but they still largely wear dark colors to conceal themselves - such as dark greys, blues, purples, or reds. Rangers are sent out on hunts/missions, but they will typically be relegated to the grade B hunts or lower.

- Initiates: These are the newest members. Night cloaks we call them, for they bear no light or color lest they attract the jaws of the beasts. They are cared for by all, and trained extensively in healing and combat. Each is expected to be able to wield multiple weapons and heal a variety of mild curses before graduating to ranger. 5 successful grade C hunts must also be completed unaided.

Culture, Color, and Respect

Our culture as moonfyres is a rich and diverse one, founded on a basis of family, resilience, and the greater good. The role that color plays in our lives cannot be understated, and so I must insist that you respect the rules around usage.

We are prey - whether moonfyre, human, or otherwise, are are prey in a world of predators. The Fure-Vytae (the beasts we hunt) are relentless, and endlessly starving. They would drain the world of it's life if nothing stood in their way. Color is the essence of life. In every leaf shade of green, and ocean blue, life dances across these surfaces. The devourers are attracted to color, not for it's beauty, but so they might consume and drain it. It is because of this, and in spite of this, that we wear color with pride and bravery. In our celebrations, in our homes, every hue beneath the sun is welcome.

However, we are not fools, and it is for both respect, and safety, that the inexperienced are not permitted to wear bright colors beneath their hunter's attire. If you violate this, not only do you shame those who have earned the right to wear it, but you put yourself, and everyone else in your hunting party, in danger.
