"Welcome, all those lost and afraid. I am Lucille - the coven leader. This is not an easy life, nor is it always a fulfilling one. But here... here you will find family, and purpose. We all have a chance here - to work towards something greater. And to love each other fiercely through the trials ahead. We have all suffered tragedy of some sort, leading us to this place. But we are the shield that stands between those who might suffer, and those who would cause it. To join this coven... is to pledge yourself to that cause."

We are a people of magic, healers and curists. We seek those out who have been cursed, and attempt to save them.
Not all can be saved however, and then it becomes our duty to end them. We are the protectors of the innocent, slayers of the monstrous.

Color is a large part of our culture. Many of the monsters we face feed on life essence/color - draining it from the creatures and environments around them. Because of this, only those truly experienced may wear garments of color beneath their cloaks... lest an unprepared initiate face a grisly death by enraging the beasts. Despite that, when we are not in perilous combat, we wear color proudly as a means of celebration and defiance. We wear it to say that we choose life, we choose living, time and time again.

We are also a people of shared grief and pain. It is tradition, to notch one's ear to mark the passing of a loved one. A permanent reminder of something lost... and that we must not let it stop us. It is common for friends and family of the grieving to notch their ears in commiseration.
Scars are celebrated here - they mean you've survived.

Lastly, we celebrate the light in all of its forms. It gives us life - it guides our steps, Iit fuels our magic and our souls. We have a great many festivals celebrating the moon and the sun during their natural cycles. When you could die at any time... you begin to find that no occasion is too little a cause for celebration. Such is the beauty of a time so short - it is as full as it is fleeting.
