Hi all! I got bored and decided to try my hand at a base suggestion . I've always been a big fan of the Thylacine, aka the Tasmanian tiger - a carnivorous marsupial native to Australia that was officially declared extinct in the 1980's. I decided since the November event focuses a lot on extinct animals (albeit mostly prehistoric ones, which the Thylacine was not, lol) that it would fit this particular month pretty well. (EDIT: could also fit into the March event, as a way of honoring an animal that went extinct due to endangerment from humans!) Not that I’m expecting this base to be implemented this year, since the event’s already started, obviously. But maybe in the years to come, if enough people enjoy it. Anyway! The base: THE THYLACINE: NEW GENETICS: Cream Dark Countershaded Special - thank you to Yuna #246912 for the idea! (If you’re curious about the skin/eyes I used, I just designed those myself for the sake of this particular base suggestion :p I thought they looked cute with the background!) WITHOUT SKIN/EYES/BACKGROUND: LINELESS VERS: WITH PATCHES MUTATION: I wanted to preserve the iconic stripes of the Thylacine, while also making them “subtle” enough that it wouldn’t detract from the rest of the base, or be too difficult to layer markings over. Therefore the stripes on this design ended up a bit diluted and less dark. Sorry to disappoint anyone who’s really into the more stark, fine appearance of the Thylacine’s actual stripes! I’m not sure if I want this to be a base you can purchase in one of the shops or a craftable base. I’m not interested in making it a combo base because it doesn’t really look like a combination of… anything. I’m leaning more towards craftable, since there are lots of bases in the shop already. I have a few of my own criticisms about Thylacine. My main concern is it might be a bit too busy, especially around the face, and with the ticking I included on top of the stripes. I'm sure those could be changed or edited somehow. I also feel a little bad trying to add a new base to the November event when it has so many bases already. But I couldn't resist It was a fun experiment if nothing else. Besides that, just let me know your thoughts. And please be gentle with criticisms - I’m receptive and will take them into consideration, but I have something of a soft heart, lol. I am shy and may not respond to all questions or comments unless you'd really like me to. |

I'm not really into these kinds of base colors myself, but I think it's generally cute and that the stripes are decently well-done. Maybe March too, since it deals with endangered animals...? Though these are already extinct. This baby is in a weird spot between the two themes I can think of, lol. The stripes could maybe be a separate marking too, but I don't know if there's already a similar shape. 1 player likes this post! Like? Edited on 16/11/24 @ 20:21:14 by 🎄⛄ leon (#208511) |

(Replying to #208511) Good thoughts!! Could definitely also be implemented in March if there's not enough room in November. And the stripes as a separate marking might be a nice idea, although I worry about that sort of... de-Thylacine-ing the original base. It's admittedly my fault for wanting to make a more visually complex base, lol Thank you to everyone else for the sweet responses so far! 0 players like this post! Like? |

I LOVE THIS!! It's very unique among the other bases this month and ties really well with the prehistoric aspect! I love How you really brought it back to life! 1 player likes this post! Like? |

this base is absolutely amazing! :oo i really love how you made the stripes more subtle + slightly jagged? as well as the rest if it for genetics i think it would suit cream dark countershaded best! 1 player likes this post! Like? |

(Replying to #246912) Thank you!!! I appreciate the sentiment so much, the stripes were surprisingly hard to work into the base. Cream dark countershaded sounds perfect! I think I'll add that into the post. 1 player likes this post! Like? |
