The current voting system encourages people to just give 1 star ratings to everyone else's submissions. I feel like almost any other way of voting would be better than the current one, but here are some suggestions: 1 - Show 2 entries at a time and simply have you choose which one you like better out of the 2. 2 - Show a group of entries and have you pick your favorite(s) out of the group. Optionally, they could also then have you narrow down to your #1 pick out of your favorites (ala Pixel Petz contests). Please share your ideas as well. |

Honestly can’t see why anyone would disagree with this unless they’re part of the demographic who’s marginally benefiting from the rigged voting. The 5 star voting system has been proven to be pretty ineffective in many games. Do people still play them? Sure. But it also drives a lot of people away as rigging the votes is far too easy, and we’re already seeing it in mass amounts. A different system for voting would be much better, and there are several better ways of voting than 1-5 stars. I ended up in 252nd place in one of the contests with only being ONE star away from third place which means 251 other people got the exact same score as me. Totally agree, I entered in the “goth” theme which had around 300-ish entries, and I ended up in 209th place with 339 stars. The that’s a bunch of people giving one star and a handful of people giving a bit more than that. Even the winner of that round ended up with 424 stars, and (just for comparison, hypothetically) if it was exactly 300 players in the game and they all voted exactly 4 stars on the design, it SHOULD have gotten 1200 stars! I really like the first idea as an alternative, it makes it feel less impossible to win 0 players like this post! Like? |
