Most of my fun facts are dinosaur related, so one fun fact I know is that the spikes on a stegosaurian dino's tail were (unofficially) named by cartoonist Gary Larson! He jokingly referred to them as a "thagomizer," but eventually people started using it in informal settings, as there is no other term coined for this body part. Paleontologists don't use it, but it has become known as the informal term among paleontology fanatic circles.

as for fun facts, here’s a (kinda gross? still very interesting) fact about a beetle species!

there’s a species of beetle that often gets eaten by frogs, but ends up surviving digestion. It’s called regimbartia attenuata and it’s thought that the air pockets kept under its wings and its hard exoskeleton keeps it from suffocating/protects from digestive stuff and it just crawls out…..the other end perfectly fine

The funfact I have that comes to mind is that flamingos aren't born pink, they get their color from what they eat! Their choice of meal contains a lot of carotenoid pigments which turns their feathers from the natural white they're born as, to the vibrant pink we know!

Fun fact: Did you know there's hippos in Colombia? They're not supposed to be there, but a huge capo brought them several years ago and they reproduced without a natural predator. So now Colombia has invasive hippos.
