˗ˏˋ⋆ Making the Most of February ⋆ˎˊ˗
Please note that any words enclosed in brackets are clickable links. I will also be adding images and checking to make sure every link is working soon - I need to take a break from html for a second!
February is here, which means it's time to start collecting
Heart Shells (HS), one of Lioden’s most valuable currencies. Whether you want to maximize your earnings, trade for profit, or just enjoy the event, this guide will help you make the most of it.
[Click here to visit the event tab]
♥ Exploring ♥
» Don't rush through each encounter! This is a common mistake as people get very excited to see their HS count slowly increase.
» You can use the [February Lioden Wiki] and search encounter text (using Ctrl/Cmd + F) to find the best actions for earning Heart Shells.
I recommend this for players who’ve seen each encounter (don’t spoil yourself - it’s a fun and silly event!) but haven’t memorized all the outcomes yet.
♥ [Aphrodasia] Flirting & Slapping ♥
Important note: Flirts are distributed randomly, regardless of how many lionesses you own. Don’t force yourself to feed 100 NCLs during this event hoping it will get you additional HS, because it will not.
» Besides exploring, you can earn Heart Shells through flirting and slapping in the Aphrodisia area. Flirting with another player’s lioness gives 1 HS and +1 Flirt Point if successful. You can flirt every 15 minutes, and while each attempt may seem small, it adds up quickly.
» If another player flirts with your lioness, you can slap them for a chance to earn 1-3 HS. If your slap fails, they get the HS instead. Take advantage of this feature as often as possible to maximize your earnings.
♥ Purchasing & Selling HS in [Chatter] ♥
Important note for newbies: HS cannot be traded directly. If selling, you must purchase items for the buyer and trade those instead, and vice versa.
I highly advise against "promise" trades - where you transfer an item to another user with the promise that you will receive a certain number of HS in return. I lost a Leopon my first February event due to this, with no compensation!
» Many players buy HS to trade for valuable items like apps and MoDs. While it requires an upfront investment, it can be highly profitable—Buffalo Scrotums, for example, cost a few
in HS now but can be worth 30-60
later in the year.
Just keep in mind that if you’re buying, you want to buy at the ratio of 1GB=10HS. Conversely, when selling, aim for 1GB=8HS. Haggle your little heart out!
˗ˏˋ⋆ General Energy Management ⋆ˎˊ˗
Important note: Your well-being comes first—don’t sacrifice sleep, self-care, or responsibilities like school/work for extra energy usage. Only buy what’s within your means.
» Getting your schedule planned out in advance can be very helpful. Your energy fills 100% every 2.5 hours. With items, that can be cut in half. We’ll talk about that soon. Set timers for Flirting, Checking Slaps from other players, the Gorilla enclave…etc.
» Make sure to battle only when your energy is at 0% and you happen to land on a battle for your final encounter. While it may seem like encounters like the "Stud Buds" are worth fighting, you’ll miss that 10% energy once you’ve won. (And let’s not even talk about the 5% energy if you lose…and leave with nothing.)
» This is the month for you to get studs from other users! While some may raise their Fertility requirements or prices, it's still better to stud to other Kings if you want to preserve your own energy.
♥ Energy Boosting Without Items ♥
» Leveling & Retiring Your King
Leveling your King gives you an energy refill! Make sure to level only once your energy is at 0%. Retiring your King early isn’t something I recommend as you can get a substantial amount of Energy Boosts (more information below) for the cost to retire at that time.
However, if your King reaches the ripe old age of 15 during February, retire away! You will have to rebuild your Impression, but you also start again at Level 1! This is the time for you to use Giant Torts, Broken Drones, Coconuts, and more!
You can also craft Dove Feasts this month, which are useful - read the February Event news post for more information!
» [Gorilla Enclave] | Resets 24 Hours from Taking Quest
Turn this quest in at 0% energy. I'm in the process of making a guide for this process that is updated - the current Stuck Chatter post is unusable.
Only purchase the cub if the price is under 100 SB, otherwise reset the quest and try again.
» 50 Lionesses Quest | 2 Day Rollover Cooldown
Turn in this quest at 0% energy, and preferably 0% impression. One of the rewards you receive from this quest is 100% energy and impression added to your current total!
» Use Both Your Accounts
Unless you’re freezing some pricy lions, I’d recommend you use the accounts the Lioden gods gifted upon thee to collect HS to your heart’s content. Align your Flirts so they’re about a minute apart and you’ll have the ability to get into a great routine of switching between them. It’s also double the energy to use!
˗ˏˋ⋆ Useful Items ⋆ˎˊ˗
Prices often vary for these items. I have written the prices for stable items available in Lioden shops. Check the [Trading Center "Items" Search], [Branch Sales], and the [Items Catalogue] to see where you can find the items in Event shops!
I forgot to stock up on Sanafica in September and this thread is Liogod’s way of punishing me.
» Sangoma Lion Mask
Available at the [Personality Snake] for 400 SB. Arguably a hugely valuable item long-term, and easily purchased. This changes your King’s personality.
If you have space for lionesses, I highly recommend giving your King the Candid personality. You reclaim 3% energy with each successful lioness claim. If you claim just 10 lionesses per day, you are already outpacing the extra energy you receive with the second-best personality below.
If you don’t have space for lionesses, or have stocked up on Hyena Butter (see more below), I recommend you give your King the Hyperactive personality instead. This personality grants you an extra 30% energy boost button in addition to your regular daily 100% boost.
» Hyena Butter
Can be bought in [Monkey Business] for 100
» Sanafica
Can be bought in [Treasure Cove] during September for 22 Dbl.
This item disables beetle larva encounters in explore for 15 minutes.
I eated it…
» Bone Marrow
1 Use | Once Per Day | 20% Energy Refill
Can be bought in [Monkey Business] for 60
» Fermented Marula
1 Use | Unlimited | Raises or Lowers Energy from 10% to -10%
Do NOT use these until your energy is at 0%. Use one at a time until you gain any amount of energy. Then explore until you run out of energy,
» Grub
1 Use | Unlimited | 10% Energy Refill
Can be acquired by playing Serengeti Shuffle or purchased in [Trading Center] & [Branch Sales]
» Energy Boost
1 Use | Unlimited | 100% Energy Refill
Can be bought in the [Oasis] for 2
each.
» Meat Pie
5 Uses | Unlimited | 100% Energy Refill
Awarded to players during site events like Birthdays and some Raffles. Meat Pies are just 5 energy boosts in a trench coat.
» Coffee Beans
Makes you lose 1-2% energy per explore step rather than 1-3% for 15 minutes.
⁃ Can be purchased in January Treasure Cove (75 Dbl) or on the [Trading Center] & [Branch Sales] (avg. 3GB) .
» Roasted Lamb & Red Bull
1 Use | Use at top of the hour | 8 hours - Doubled Energy Refill
Important Note: Doubled energy regeneration only works if your leader is at 59% hunger or lower.
For the next 8 hours, your pride leader's energy will refill by double each time (20% every 15 minutes, instead of the typical 10%). Every hour, the item’s use time decreases. That means that if you use a lamb at 4:59, when 5:00 rolls around you'll only have 7 hours of lamb remaining.
It’s time for a bulk, bro.
» Giant Tortoise
1 Use | 400-800 EXP
Found in just…a ton of places, including [Trading Center] and [Branch Sales]. Linking its page in the [Item Catalogue] so you can see where it’s found.
» Broken Drone
1 Use | 100 EXP
[Item Catalogue Listing]
» Coconut
1 Use | 50 EXP
[Item Catalogue Listing]
» UAV - Search and Rescue
1 Use | 20 EXP
Found in [Trading Center] & [Branch Sales]…but not really worth the effort.
I wanna go shopping!
» Buffalo Scrotum - 60 HS
Minimum of 3 cubs in your king (or stud)’s next immediate breeding. Hugely valuable. Huge. Save them until people get desperate and you make bank. Or do what I do and throw them at the tree so they can dangle from the branches for approximately 0.000000002 seconds.
» Yohimbe Bark - 30 HS
Use this item to shorten a chosen lioness's breeding cooldown by one day per bark. It cannot be used on pregnant or nursing lionesses. Great item, just not quite as desired as Buffalo Scrotum. For the price during this event, though, it makes sense as it’s fairly easy to get 30 HS.
» GoP - 30 HS
Minimum of 2 cubs in your king (or stud)’s next immediate breeding. Pretty valuable
» Lion Scrotum - 80 HS
Use this on a mutated lioness for a 25% chance per cub (5% if DU) to pass her mutation as long as it has no extra requirements. Effect triggers last if cubs do not have a mutation. Can’t be used with GMO cows or Lion Meat. Hybrids, Primals, Felis, and Ferus excluded.
Necessary if you want to pass any of the mutations an AMP (I believe) or Dwarf might have. Otherwise, not recommended to purchase. This item has lost significant value with the decline of the Dwarf market.
» Base Apps
If you prefer. You can make a little GB with these or apply them to your lions, but truly they’re best for raffles! Look at [Branch Sales] of the applicators for the most accurate year-round selling price before purchasing if you’re trying to find best value.
» Decor and backgrounds
Usually, backgrounds sell for more
out of season. Again, check [Branch Sales] or ask around in Main Chat to determine the most valuable. Generally, the more HS you spend, the more
you can charge. However, it’s all Supply/Demand!
˗ˏˋ⋆ Money, Money, Money! ⋆ˎˊ˗
♥ Buy Now, Sell Later & Buy Low, Sell High ♥
» To recap the Items section, for maximum profit, buy Buffalo Scrotums as they sell quickly when offered and have consistently held good value month to month. Yohimbe Bark is also worth considering, though harder to sell. Avoid Lion Scrotums and base/marking apps, as the dwarf market is down, and base/marking apps are expensive now but cheap later. I suppose it’s a great time to buy Dwarves, eh, Dwarf lovers?
» I highly suggest you do not sell these hard-earned items in February, as you’ll get only a fraction of their value. Only sell if absolutely necessary. On that note, I also recommend taking advantage of those who are more than happy to make a quick buck and flip these items as soon as they have them. You will find huge deals if you’re quick enough to snap them up!
♥ High Demand Items ♥
» If you’re like me and only use a fraction of your Roasted Lambs/Red Bulls (more about these items below), you probably have an excess of them in your Hoard. Personally, I like to give these away or raffle them off. However, these are very lucrative items during February, and some players stock up year-round.
Try to discourage new players from purchasing items such as Bone Marrow, Energy Boosts, and Meat Pies from the Trading Center or Branches. Nearly every time I see a listing for these items, they are ridiculously overpriced. Point them in the direction of the [Monkey Business] and [Oasis] instead!
♥ Buying & Selling Hybrid and RLC Heats ♥
These can be found through [Chatter] or Sales Chat advertisements. Usually, for any valuable Lioness heats this month, you need to provide 20 Yohimbe Barks [HS - Flirt Shop] or [GB - Trading Center], a Buffalo Scrotum [HS - Flirt Shop] or [GB - Trading Center], an Instant Birth Feather [Oasis | 2GB], and Aging Stones [Oasis | 2GB].
» Split Heats
This is a user-generated term, but the general meaning is that to some degree, cubs will be split up between the breeder and the owner. For example, in my [FREE First Gen Jaglion Heats for Clan Members] thread], I provide the chance for any member of my clans (linked below) the opportunity for a Split Heat. (The Split Heat Thread will be available ASAP!)
My definition of this term is that if there are by some chance two hybrids, I will be keeping one of them. Otherwise, the breeder is welcome to their cubbins! Some other users prefer to choose cubs to keep in order, where the breeder chooses one, then the owner, then the breeder…etc.
» Full Heats
Self-explanatory. These are heats where the breeder keeps all of the cubs. Usually these cost
or items.
» Barked Heats
Often a requirement for breeding hybrids and RLCs during February. Yohimbe barks are described above. Because you provide 20 Yohimbe barks, you ensure the owner can breed the lioness consistently without the need to wait 20 days to go back into heat.
» Other Options
If you don’t like the thrill of breeding to those sweet, sweet ladies, I recommend holding onto the items you purchase for a few months. You can later trade the items (or GB you receive selling them later), for another user’s Hybrid, RL, or RLC.
Do you have more questions, or want me to elaborate on any parts of the event? Feel free to reply to this thread and I’ll do my best to address your question!
