Lynx was born on the same day as her cousin Stardust, but that's about all they have in common. The pair have never gotten along. Lynx, raised by a distrustful mother, spoke without thought of others' feelings. Stardust, born to Lynx's kind aunt Talia, always responded emotionally to Lynx's words, hurt in their every interaction. Lynx couldn't stand her overreaction, so avoided her where possible. Their mothers, two very different sisters, made this easier by also rarely spending time together.
After the death of Shaman Renn, the pride didn't have a connection to their dead for a little while. That was until her granddaughter, Lynx, grew into a young adult. Without a full length tail, Lynx's balance was not good enough to get her into the main hunting party. She became part of the secondary team, and usually hung back until she was really needed. Raised by her distrustful mother, Muddle, and then rejected from the team she wanted to join, Lynx was a very grumpy lioness. Sulking alone, a voice came to her. Renn spoke from the afterlife, inducting her as the new bridge between the pride and their dead.
Lynx's relationship with the rest of the pride has been strained thanks to her rejection from the main hunting team, and being raised by her distrustful mother, Muddle. The pride began to appreciate her once she connected them to their dead, but are put off sticking around too long by her unsympathetic way of phrasing things. Lynx moved into a cave by herself and, unlike her grandmother's beautiful beaded appearance, surrounded herself with the remnants of the dead to strengthen their connection. The pride is wary of visiting her, thrown by the oppressive feeling of being in the cave, but are in awe of the spectacle when she does make a connection.
The Queen of the pride, Zephyr, took an interest in Lynx once she was named Shaman. She began to show up, trying to befriend Lynx, who wasn't interested in the main huntress and only tolerated her because she couldn't say no to the Queen. It was Renn's spirit who got her to listen to Zephyr, as Renn had once been Zephyr's hunting mentor. Zephyr had learnt to hunt well with two tails, and wanted to help Lynx work with her short tail. She soon became Lynx's mentor, and would occasionally talk to Renn through her.
A while after Zephyr passed, Lynx met a king of another pride and ended up having his litter. She later found out he was Zephyr's son, and so the cub, Shrike, was a joining of the old Queen Zephyr's lineage with that of her first mentor of the pride, Renn. Zephyr and Renn helped communicate with Lynx as she raised her cub, before both permanently leaving for the afterlife as the next generations took care of the pride from the side of the living. While the cub was still young, Mila became very interested in helping raise it to be part of the pride. Annoyed and wanting to be left in peace, Lynx gave her daughter up to Mila, who raised her alongside her own litter.
