familiar name: arona
(ignore the fact that iridiana was born into my pride for the sake of backstory lol)
iridiana skids to a stop, eyes darting around the pitch black sky, plastered with stars. she flicks an ear before emitting a few low chirps, calling arona over.
"there you are," she smiles as she hears the faint wing beats of her loyal companion flying down from the skies. she waits a moment before feeling talons gently landing on her back. she turns her head, arona already comfortably seated on her back. iridiana lifts her forepaw, sniffing the air for a quick second before continuing onwards.
she had recently heard of a pride not too far from them from another lion. traveling the plains got a bit boring and repetitive. she thought, why not join a pride rather than wasting her time looking for food and water? she spent most of her time sitting anyway.
an hour passes by and in the middle of walking, she pauses, keeping her forepaw lifted. she turns her head to arona who was clearly uneasy. she sets her paw down, looking around them. arona snaps her head over towards her left before flying off into the sky once again.
iridiana lowers her head, smelling the scent that had been following them for awhile. suddenly, three lionesses pop out from different directions with loud snarls, but one was not. "you're in king araumi's territory." a mostly orange lioness speaks first, "state your purpose."
iridiana shifts uncomfortably, backing away. turning her head, she realizes shes surrounded.
"i.. i am no threat.." iridiana chokes out, ears flattening as the three come closer. "you're scaring her!" a lioness who appeared to be friendlier than the other two speaks up. she trots over, now standing directly infront of the other two who clearly seemed disturbed by her sudden burst of willingness to be friendly to an outsider.
"saikaria.. this is someone invading your territory you're talking to." one of them speaks up, "shut up neru.. what if shes just confused?" neru, taken aback, lets out a growl.
a few more minutes go by of them bickering and iridiana finally decides to speak up. "i--" she tries to gather her words, still shaken up, "i wanted to join, actually." she raises her head, trying to be confident.
the three pause, looking over. "oh of course you can join!" saikaria's expression quickly went from anger to happiness in just a matter of seconds. "these are my friends, hestia and neru by the way. my names saikaria too if you didnt know."
neru still has a scowl on her face from the insult, but seems fine with the newcomer now. "follow me!" saikaria turns and pads away. hestia walks over, seemingly interested.
as the four walk to where the pride was, hestia strikes up a conversation. "do you have a familiar per chance?" was her first question. iridiana wasn't sure what a 'familiar' was. hestia guessed the confusion based off of her face, "another species of animal that you've befriended. you got one?" iridiana nods.
hestia looks around for a moment, looking back, "where are they? i'd like to meet them." iridiana smiles awkwardly, "arona isn't too fond of strangers. im sure she'll show im soon though as long as im here." she answers. hestia looks back forwards, "were here now. you have to meet our king first." iridiana flicks her tail nervously but hestia reassures her with a pat on the back with her tail.
