Seraphina watches you from where she's sunning herself beside a vibrant cassis lioness. She doesn't move to greet you, in fact she doesn't offer any greeting at all, she simply watches you with a calm expression. Obviously she's curious, but something about her face tells you, you're not that interesting.
● Bio ●
Newborn : Seraphina is the fourth cub born to Vesper. She was birthed in the morning during the end of the dry season.
{Vesper buried his nose in Seraphina's burnt red pelt, testing her temperament. The only reaction was a single squeak, not one of defiance but more of a greeting. It was a good sign and he found it adorable. Both cubs were very promising. He looked to Senja who waited expectantly for his praise. Her confident, still expression aroused a small smile from him. "They're beautiful my dear, just as expected." Vesper bent down and butted his head with hers, leaving her with a parting lick across her forehead.
Young Cub: Seraphina went wherever her sister went. She only played with the other cubs when
she did and she only tussled when Naveah jumped on her or the other cubs picked a fight with her sister. Her favorite thing to do is to play with Naveah's tail, batting at her spots. Eventually she would tackle her and their tussling would catch the attention of Condor and Varsha. They were always jumping into their battles. Her favorite time of the day was when everyone was tired out and Mother's Cavern was full of soft chatter. She would rest her head on her paws, laying against her mother, and get lost in an interesting conversation or debate. She could listen to the lionesses all day.
Cub: Seraphina did exceptionally well in training, except for the pouncing lessons. When all the other cubs were perfecting their perfectly timed leaps, she was striving at simply landing a successful pounce. She could tell her father was disappointed, especially since she was going to be joining in the hunts soon. Neveah said they'll practice extra hard instead of playing, but Seraphina wasn't worried. Sombra had come by to watch a few of the lessons one day, one of them happened to be pouncing. After she saw Seraphina struggling, she pulled her aside to ask her if she knew what was so great about hunting with a team. Seraphina answered that they were able to bring home bigger prey and Sombra nodded, but she also said that everyone had their own strengths, and that one lioness didn't have to be good at everything. A hunting party relied on everyone's individual strengths and teamwork to succeed. Not everyone had to be a master at pouncing, maybe she was more of a starter than a finisher.
Adolescent: Seraphina enjoyed hunting with her pride mates. She learned a lot from the lionesses, but her favorite teacher was Sombra. Seraphina loved when she took them out to hunt. Not only was she kind and patient, but Seraphina always learned something new in the presence of the Lead Huntress. She admires her and strives to be just like her when she gets older.
Adult: {2 years, 11 months old} - Seraphina waited peacefully for her King, the two cubs she recently bore busily nursing. To her, they were the most beautiful things in the world, but she did not know if her King would approve of them. She didn't want to give her hopes up and set her heart on keeping them when they could very well be gone in the next couple of hours. The choice wasn't hers, so Seraphina simply waited without getting too attached yet. She hoped her sister was doing the same. When her King arrived, she couldn't help but get a little excited. She exchanged a look with Naveah, catching the glint of exited curiosity in her eye. Both her and Naveah were waiting for him, but he visited her first. He greeted her warmly and looked over their cubs. Again, she did not put too much hope into his approval. In fact, she was pushing herself to already accept his denial. So many mothers were grief stricken this season, due to the sheer number of cubs her King had rejected already, Seraphina didn't want to add to the list.
"My apologies Seraphina, but I'll be taking them with me." Her king finally spoke, and they were the words she had been expecting. She took in a deep breath and nodded. "That's alright. You do what you need to, my King." She watched as he looked over at Condor at the mouth of the cavern, beckoning him with a glance. Vesper gently picked up one of her cubs and passed Condor as he strolled up to her nest.
"I'm sorry Seraphina," he whispered. She simply bowed her head in silent acceptance, watching the Heir take her other cub into his mouth and carried her away. A big part of Seraphina wanted to get up, get back to work, and find a hunting party to jump into, but her sister was one of the only ties pulling her to stay. A small part of her also wanted to enjoy the feel of Mother's Den again. To memorize the sound of cubs' laughter bouncing off the walls and the soft chatter that had put her to sleep every day when she was a cub. And what if Naveah was able to keep her cubs?
What if she wasn't? Seraphina settled in her nest, preparing herself for the somber outcome.
5 months old - Seraphina had only given birth to one cub this season, and she was sure her daughter wasn't staying. She groomed her, enjoying the noises she made and her unique scent. She loved her, her heart swelling every time they interacted, but with every gesture she was saying goodbye. Her King had visited her sister first and took her cubs with him when he left. Her heart went out to Neveah and she hoped she had said a proper goodbye to her cubs. Seraphina was ready for her King's judgement, already knowing it before he delivered the news. She wasn't surprised when he claimed he was taking their daughter. She nodded, at peace with his decision. When he left, Neveah approached her, cautious as she settled beside her. "I'm okay, are you?"
Her sister seemed a bit surprised. "Yes."
Seraphina nodded. "Good. Let's enjoy our time here before we have to get back to work."
"Let's," her sister replied as she curled up next to her. "We should spend some time with mother, once she's not so busy. I've been dying to know how she's been doing with her new title."
{6 years, 9 months old} - Lost sister and littermate, Nevaeh
Seraphina chuckled, knowing her sister had a million questions for Senja. "Sounds like a plan."
