I really like the raffle lionesses, but I hate how it constantly creates turmoil in the market. Whenever there is a new mark, it is either hoarded or sold for ludicrous amounts. I think this is because there is only one lioness going to one player- one player that has complete control over this new mark/color. Let's face it: Monopoly = bad market No one person should have that power. I think it would be better if there were multiple copies of the same lioness each week- in other words, more winning slots in the raffle. Not a lot, maybe about 5? Just enough to have some competition. It would discourage the winners from hoarding a new mark because whoever sells the cubs first, will make the most profit. Because there are more lionesses starting out, there would be a better supply of the new marks too. This should help in meeting the demand and help the market shift back to normal much faster (hopefully without it getting as imbalanced either). So... should we have a few extra winners each week? Edit: For those who are concerned about specials no longer being rare... even with the current system they can't stay rare forever, but they are still special because of their "breed only" status. See page 2 if you'd like to see my complete rant on this. Extra edit: I really like the implementation of the new marks for this month's event! It has been very interesting. I hope this continues for other events, and I would not mind if it eventually replaces the special raffle. |

I agree, although I think 3 would be fine. 3 winners is a pretty common strategy for making people enter a contest : o 0 players like this post! Like? |

Honestly, I'd be content with anything that is more than 1. Thanks to those who have supported so far! 0 players like this post! Like? |

I agree. To stop the unbalance would be awesome. ..but I wonder, instead of 3 of the same lioness couldn't we have 3 lionesses with the same special markings but different custom/normal markings, then they're still unique? I don't know, that's an idea that's been sitting in my head for awhile. 0 players like this post! Like? |

That's up to the site admins. I figured having them be the same would be easier to do, and I wanted it to be a pretty simple suggestion. That would be pretty cool though. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I think it's a bit of a catch-22 either way, to be honest. If we keep it how it is, players are mad because one user can choose to hoard a marking and keep people from getting that lioness, making it "rare" and people won't be able to afford it. If we make it so that more than one lioness with that marking is released, people get mad because "everybody will have it and the price will drop" This is the exact thing we've seen already with Onyx, not even hours after onyx was released, I was seeing people complaining about how that marking would not be rare and "would turn just like maltese". It's not a situation where anybody can win either way, it seems. 0 players like this post! Like? |

People want the coats and specials to be "rare" and "valuable" Onyx would never be rare because anyone can get hold of it.. just get 5Gb for a base changer and you're away. I don't really know.. maybe we could just scrap the raffle, and make those marking/coats customs, ooh but then they wouldn't be special anymore. ;-; You're right Clayton, nobody wins. 0 players like this post! Even with one winner, eventually the mark becomes more common. It just takes a while longer, and that person can make a lot more money. Specials do still sell (and stud) for more than custom coats because they can only be acquired by breeding- that is what makes them special. As they are bred more, they become more common, which reduces the price, but they are still retain that extra value because of the "breeding only" status. There isn't really a way to keep these super rare, unless the odds of passing on the mark is reduced (of course, then people will complain at how impossible it is to breed for). Honestly, it is silly to expect them to always sell for 20GB each (unless they have great stats too). Adding a few more winners to the raffle won't cause the market to suddenly crash- it will just help it reach an equilibrium faster and easier. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I like this idea, and the concerns people are raising about Maltese and Onyx could be well-addressed by the genetics model I'm proposing in this forum could work pretty well to equalize the base color concerns. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Everyone should win! No, no XD Just kidding. I do agree that there should be more than one winner, however. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I think site admins should ignore those complaining about how they can't sell onyx's for big bucks just because they didn't stay rare for a long time. That's being ungrateful when practically every lion can be "unique" and rare because there are countless combinations of colors, markings and opacities on this game. People shouldn't base their enjoyment of the game on what they can sell something for in a free market or they are always going to be disappointed. Prices always drop with things you can make more of and no one is forced to pay what you think they should. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 05/02/14 by Japhleti Deuce (#23038) |
