This is an official clan thread for the The Artists of Lioden Clan! The Artists of Lioden- Who are we?-The Artists of Lioden is a family specifically for, you guessed it, all the artists on Lioden. Here there will be contests, group YCHs and pretty much anything art related that you can imagine. Requirements?-The only requirement is that you are an artist. You don't need to have an art shop set up 24/7, or an art shop for that matter, but even a little bit of artistic skill is required. So what's the point?-The point of this group is to bring all of Lioden's artists closer and to help everyone, in this group or not, to find an artist they would like to commission. Yep, whole threads will be dedicated specifically to advertising YOUR art! This sounds great! How do I sign up?-All you have to do is send a join request here and comment on this thread and you're in! Its not focing, Seidan. I don't mind offering opinions and suggestions to others on things they could work on to improve thier art. Most of my family have pushed me to be a better artist my whole life, and I'm certain that has aided my abilities a lot. A little constructive critisism and encouragement goes a long way. It is a good thing that your family helped you! My mom is more like "why are you even drawing? You are so bad at it and will never be good, no matter how hard you practise", it was not the best way to keep motivated, ahah. Painting short fur is actually not that bad. Are you doing traditional painting or digital art? In traditional painting, it depends upon both Acrylic vrs Oils and what brushes your using. When your doing digital, the best way to paint short fur is to start with a large pixel brush and cover your sketch with lots of short strokes. Dont worry about making it a solid color, you'll go over the entire thing again later. After you've finished the first layer, change the color you're using a little bit either lighter or darker and go over it lightly again. Remember to use short strokes, they give a better impression of fur than long ones. Change the color again in the other direction from the base coat, and go lightly over the picture focusing mostly on the areas of light or shadow (light if this is the lighter color, shadow if its the darker). Now that the base has a layer, change your brush size to something smaller and do the process again. You don't need, or even want to create a single solid color, you want to let some of the base bleed through as it will enhance the fur look. The more small varients of color you can add in within the same tones will also enhance the fur and make it look better. You want to put some light and dark throughout the entire body, but you want to more concentrate the darker colors in the shadows and concentrate the lights in the high points where the light would hit your fur. Welcome Artists. We always want more art here. Its a good place to find others to bounce ideas off, and concepts, and to get help when you're stuck on a picture. Many of us are more than willing to give tips and critiques as best we can. Look around, paw through some of the other clan members.
