Gem padded forward and pressed his muzzle into Arielle's neck fur, drinking in her scent with a contented sigh. He closed his eyes and rest there for a moment before stepping back to gaze at her properly, an adoring look on his face. "I forgot my mate was half squirrel," he teased gently, and smiled. "I missed you...even a day apart feels like eternity these days." He'd forgotten what it was like to have someone to leave behind, and to have a heart waiting for him at home. For so long the only bond that seemed to have control over his soul was his brother and he was used to never being apart from Sky. Having Arielle in this way now still took some getting used to. The longing and ache of being apart was unfamiliar, as was the joyful rush of adrenaline upon reunion.

Azazel scrabbled away from the sudden movement to his left, Siren's crawling having disturbed the pups rest. He squirmed closer to the milk scent of his mother, ignoring the new presence that threatened to disturb the tranquillity of the birth den. Already thoughts were beginning to form in his mind; eat, stay warm and don't stray from mother. Those primal instincts were foremost in his mind.

Siana peeked over her shoulder at Noris, warring between wanting to ignore him out of spite and the temptation that the pretty creek rocks held over her. Her eyes softened and she padded back over to him. "Fine, I'll help. But you promised! And daddy says that if you go back on promises you are a bad wolf." She observed the way he was combing the pelt and followed suit, her small paws working deftly on the fur to tug out the stalks and burrs. "Maybe one of the new Tau will fall in love with me," she hummed, a dreamy look coming over her. "Or even you, though they'd have to be blind and have no nose!"

Arielle grinned and curled her neck around her mate's shoulders, lightly smoothing his dark fur with her tounge. "I missed you," she murmured, her heart beating several miles an hour. She didn't care how soppy she sounded or how crazy her fur looked that morning, as long as she was with her love. Though in the midst of all this, she couldn't escape a feeling that there was still a hole in her soul. Something, or someone, was missing. Nothing immediate or specific came to mind, but the sensation was there.

Siren squeaked in annoyance and reached out a paw, deftly batting at her siblings who squeaked and fidgeted. She increased her crawling until she was too far from her mum, and bumped into something fuzzy. With a puppish growl, she started to try to nom on the unknown softness.

Noris grinned "Yes! And i won't go back, I'm sly but I'm not a bad wolf!" He grumbled in protest and resumed his combing before stopping suddenly, the pieces out. "Let's gooooo!!!!" He yipped in excitement, scurrying out of the beta den and over to the nursery (alpha den? I think they're in the nursery at least). Like he promised, he waited fr Siana to go in first, hearing quiet whimpering coming from behind the den curtain.

Gem twitched his black ears, picking up on Arielle's heartbeat that matched his own. Like an old friend calling out to another. He felt warmth spread through him, from his ears to his toes, and licked her cheek lovingly. "I think I'll stop doing these missions," he mused, deciding on it in that very moment. "My real place is here now, with you and the rest of Duskfall." He glanced back at the camp "Speaking of which, was I right in hearing that Lucifer's tau have arrived? Pyre was even pacing." (I think. cbf going back to check :P)

Sky sauntered over to Pyre, watching the russet she-wolf with curiosity. "So, how are we this fine afternoon?" he asked, yellow eyes flashing with something unrecognizable. He sidestepped as Siana and Noris came barrelling past, but kept his gaze locked on Pyre. Since he and Gem had returned for the first time after hearing their father had passed, Sky had taken an interest in Pyre that surprised even himself. He found her intriguing, from her temper to her loyalty and her changes of mood that could be as sudden as a summer storm. Her energy seemed to revive something in him that had been lost for a long time- motivation. Sky was as lazy as a wolf could get, but he would challenge a bear to a one on one fight if it meant getting the red wolf's attention. (Ooooh he doooo, he doooo gots a crush)

(Yes pyre was pacing cuz nova wouldn't let them in to see how Lucifer was doing because one of the pups was stillborn, so pyre wanted to go in and check but lucifer was mourning and nova growled and snapped at his "mate" and her sister/best friends which made pyre even angrier)

Pyre halted her daydreaming, glancing sideways to see a large dark silhouette and yellow eyes watching her with something she'd never seen before, which sparked her curiosity "Good afternoon, Sky. It's a fine afternoon thus far, three little tau are finally born on this day, no matter how they came to be," She hummed, resuming her glancing around to make sure everything seemed a-ok. "You seem pretty acrive so late in the day. What's got you so excited? What, not enough of you pups to play with?" She had turned her head to give him a wicked grin, her eyes sparkling with mischief as she launched herself toward him, using her weight to knock him off balance as she slammed into his side. She looked at him "Just kidding!! You boys aren't pups anymore, that's for sure," she used her tail to gesture at the height difference between the two, Sky being taller now that he'd grown up. "You've grown some you big ol' flea!! Just before you left you were still a bit smaller than me! And I'm not old enough to be shrinking to the size of a coyote!"

Arielle gave a small laugh and looked her mate in the eyes. "We're nobles now, Gem, you can't just quit doing missions. I just have to come along next time so you won't miss me," she explained with a wink. She felt the cozy heat spreading through her mate's frame, and it proved contagious as the two shared a mutual warmth to couple their intimacy. "You heard right," she replied, a warmness to her voice, "I'm not sure how many there are, but the Sigma sure are excited about them."
