Lexa rolled her eyes with a chuckle,"I have been barrel racing since I was 4, bring it on." She dared with a laugh and looked up watching him brush off some dirt from her hat. She turned her head hearing a smaller voice join the conversation and butt in, James' little brother. She knelt down and extended and arm to Parker, "Well then your brother told you right. So a little roper huh. Well want to know a secret to getting a faster time?" She said in almost a whisper to Parker and glanced up at James for a moment before looking back in front of her to Parker.

Lexa looked around and made sure no other kid was listening and looked back to Parker. "Okay first sit lightly in the saddle and anticipate when they are going to let the calf go giving your horse a warning. Second don't slow down as soon as you get the calf on the rope and pull back dismount, be careful. Third don't be afraid to go down with the calf use you weight and body to put them on their side. Finally better have good knot skills cuz you have a short amount of time to grab its right front and 2 back legs to tie before it starts kicking." She said with a nod, "Got it?" She asked standing up from her crouch but kept her gaze on the little boy.

Lexa watched as the kid excitedly ran off to go compete in roping. She turned her gaze over to James and laughed shaking her head. "What about we both stay on our high horses and let the clock be the judge of that." She said with a smile and looked around to the little line of kids seeing Parker was one of the first. "We can stay here and watch him and once he is done we can grab Trigger and then go warm up. If you want." She invited moving her gaze back to James.

Lexa smiled and watched him walk over to the fence. She lead Echo over with her as she climbed into the fence next to James. She watched as the boy waited for the calf to be released. She remembered when she use to rope when she was little, she smiled at the thought and watched as the calf was released and Parker took off.

Lexa watched as the kid took off after the calf and before she knew it he had tied the calf and ran out of the arena towards them excitedly. She laughed and gave him a nod as he ran off to his parents. "He will, that was very good." She said confident the kid would place in top 3. She hoped down from the railing and gave Echo a pat on the neck before mounting the mare. She looked to James to see if he was coming.

Lexa looked down at James as he looked around for her brother and she laughed softly. "I have no idea probably trying to hunt me down. Just ignore him he's all bark little to no bite." She said as they approached the stall and a loud snicker from Trigger greeted them.

Lexa brushed him off and shook her head, "I take his carp all the time it's nothing new." She said and stayed on Echo as James got Trigger ready. She waited until he was ready before they made there way towards the warm up pen.

Trigger nickered and pawed at the stall door before he was let out by James. Trigger did his best to stay still but he was exited and was ready to burn some energy. He licked James hand with a snort and nudged him towards his side so he would get on. He looked over to Echo, "How did you do?" He asked the mare curiously.

Trigger moved his feet excitedly as James mounted and they moved out of the stall area. He gave a nod to Echo congratulating her and Lexa and he felt games prepare to run. He flicked his ears back listened to James as he spoke before he took of into a gallop on the warm up area where a few other horses and riders where warming up.

Lexa glared at the pair next to them as a thought festered in James mind and before she knew it he had taken off. She shook her head with a laugh and gave Echo a pat on the shoulder, "Lets not be the ones to waste our energy." she laughed and asked Echo for a trot with gentle pressure from her heals.
