Gah I was busy during the month of June, I apologize for my inactivity because I said I would join that contest. I just got a summer job and I find it hard to write when I am busy and anxious about new things.

Anyways, I hope to enter something in for the July contest. I loved the ideas in the poll!

@raven don't worry about it! There's no point in forcing yourself to do something if you don't want to :p it just takes the fun out of it x3

You guys, I have a question..

Have you ever had an idea jumping around in your head forever, so you decide to write it. But when you go to start it, you're sitting there like 'Uhh... how do I start it? I know what's going on, but how do I start it?'

@Dixie - I hate that problem! Sometimes I think the easiest way to combat it is to just jump it. Immediately start with the high point of the idea (if it's an action idea), or just writing down the idea word for word as if you were explaining it (if it's a vague idea). And sometimes you get a good starting point out of that! And then false starts are helpful. Even if you hate the beginning later on, you can rewrite it!

I've had an idea stuck in my head for maybe a year now, but when I go to write it... I'm sitting there like a knot on a log!

By the way, could you guys tell me what you think of my example? ~sweatdrop~ It's a draft...

I wrote a story based on a picture promp with a lake and an overhead comet over the lake when I was still at school in my year 9. As my family has recently moved to a rented flat while waiting to see if our bought flat will be built and if we manage to buy our holiday house in Provence, I can't find the short story which I printed out and packed it and I hope to find it again to type it up on my new laptop.
For the meantime, I've thought of a sequel to it from the covers of 2 books. One which had a unicorn standing in a sunlight dappled forest and the second which is an ebook had a diamond on it's cover.
I've typed my ideas for the sequel and got most of the characters noted, know the where of the climax. But I'm struggling with an idea for a plot to start the whole thing off at the moment, should I just wing it? The only plots I can think of are clichés. The sequel has got two mythical equines and a magic system using gemstones, do you think that will work? I think I've the start of an idea for the third and final book. Plus an idea for maybe a companion series using two of the minor characters dissapear somehow during the 2nd book idea and reappear maybe in third book maybe at the end having had their own adventure? Do you think that two of the minor characters in the second book being somehow transported from my imaginary world of Eldraesnivia to Earth and having an adventure, (I'm leaning on a dystopian idea), there would work?

Okay! I'm finally back from my camping trip, the only reason I was on yesterday was because of the firework show in the nearest town. >.>

welcome back Em ;3

Kali, that sounds really cool! I think that cliche plots can be pulled off if the writing is good and the characters are complex and both well written and able to connect with readers. Half of the books that are famous these days have cliche plots, and especially with an interesting world and cool characters, there's nothing wrong with using one!

Thanks. I just thought why not write something with unicorns and winged horses connected to the above idea for the sequel because from what I've read (a lot of books) there are rarely books which focus on mythical horses. There's the Last Unicorn (can't remember the authour-will google it), The Forestmater's Wife which had a small scene with a unicorn and the Green Rider series by Kristen Britain which is a brilliant series with Firebrand #6 due April or March 2017 and has well-trained and bred special horses a bit like John Flanagan trained horses but better.
So why not use them both, unicorns and winged horses in a school society with them being companions like some dragons and familiars are?

Yeah! Unicorns and Pegasi are really interesting, but most of the time they are kind of shoved to the back as a plot device, or an easy escape route... Plus dragons are sweg
