Sorry for being so slow ;w; I had the laptop snatched from me and my mobile was essentially dead OTL He was a normal leopard. Also, if anyone tries to sign up with a Black Panther shoot them down; they're not a real species and I've been having fights with a few people who are like "But they aaaaaare tooooo!". Black Panthers are jsut melanistic Leopards and Jaguars. I was really hoping a few old members would come back, but it seems like we'll have to move on without them ; 3; ________________ It was indeed an Rp in the olden days of 2015 xD Mackenzie has been remade a Gray Wolf instead of a Timber wolf since that was snagged pretty quickly. She's got the students' best interests at heart, but she's a killjoy and a party pooper most times. ________________ I had a terrible idea to make a character based on a pesonal problem. I might toss her into the Rp out of spite just to add her. ________________ Harry Potter is a great book series, and their lucky the movie series was so close for the main plot! I cringe and cry when I look at the Percy Jackson and Eragon movies. OTL Books are a love of mine ;w; If anyone wants to Rp a book or TV show storyline I'm usually open for literate Rp partners x3 ________________ I will have dorms going up tomorrow! It's almost 1 am here and I've got to get some sleep soon~! ![]() Edited on 22/06/16 @ 22:25:21 by Serelin (#57926) |

I get really pissed when people do that, too. I hate it when people insist fake species exist- it's pointless and frankly, pathetic and boring:P ![]() |

Leopards are most definitely a real species...a lot of people think that Black Panthers are too. I don't mind it when people realize it, but what bothers me is when they insist they are right. ![]() |

I just call them jaguars as it's another name for them o.o but more so for the melanistic ones. ![]() |

They can be either:P But I prefer Leopards to Jaguars. Snow Leopards are my favorite, though- they can leap 6 times their own length - nine meters, 29-30 ft. - and the record is about 50 feet in one jump. They hunt prey three times their size and their tails are almost as long as their bodies. They use them like scarves in cold weather. Snow Leopards are born blind, and don't gain their sight until they are nine days old. They are my favorite animal:) ![]() Edited on 22/06/16 @ 23:20:19 by The Cheshire Cat (#39139) |

Leopards are pretty cool, too- they can drag a large carcass up a tree with them, and even hunt in trees, where their pelts blend in with the dappled bark. They are the strongest of the five big cats and are natural swimmers. They are also born blind, and their eyes are blue for the first few months of their life. Like snow leopards and jaguars, they cannot roar. ![]() |

@Imp - No, I'm not saying a Jaguar or Leopard shouldn't be allowed or are fake species. They are indeed real! It's just Black "Panthers" are not a true species, they're just Melanistic Leopards and Jaguars. Albinism, Melanism, and Abundism are just genetic mutations and doesn't make them a separate species, so it'd be unfair to allow the mutations to be registered separately when some species don't have any known members or confirmed sightings of that mutation. (( For example there are rumors of Melanistic Pumas/Mountain Lions, but there are no confirmed individuals with the gene. There is a picture of a supposed one being caught, but it's in black-and-white which doesn't help their case at all.)) I really like how Cheetahs can't roar either! They make chirps and all sorts of other adorable sounds, although I adore how they scare off other predators! Since they're not big enough to scare animals and without a roar they just stomp their front paws real hard and fluff up what little fur on their nape they do have in excess. ![]() |

Usually melanism doesn't occur in animals that lack markings ovo At least from what I've heard. Like leopards have their spots and they're pretty well known for melanism. But idk, I'm not good with genetics, I'm better at technology than living things. <3 Also omg cheetahs r cyoot I love them. They make baby lion noises. ![]() |

@Trash Panda - Melanism is supposed to be a dominant gene but sometimes there are times when it's dominated by another gene and becomes recessive in a sense of it not being able to be seen. It also occurs with the same frequency of Albinism. There are no confirmed reports of Black Lions since the 1980s when they were mainly made, some of the reports were for russet brown lions with almost-black places on their body. The only other melanistic wild cat they can find seems to be Servals, which are rare enough and might not be Melanism at all! Most of the black Servals live in colder areas, and the black coat color might be a mutation occurring to retain body heat better. You never know though, genetics get really confusing because sometimes a dominant gene can quickly be tossed under the rug if the Phenotype doesn't show them like it's supposed to. Melanism so far has been able to occur in Wolves! They do not have markings, but sometimes the black wolf is just a Melanistic variation of whatever subspecies it come from; there are Red wolves with melanism as well. It's funny since most black wolves with Melanism owe it to the old wolf-dog hybrid bloodlines they have. But for the most part cats with spots seem to have the Melanism gene on their side. I encourage you to look up Abundism since it's been seen and photographed on a tiger or two. ![]() Edited on 23/06/16 @ 09:24:14 by Serelin (#57926) |
