Greetings community! these are some of the pictures I took a few years back, sadly it's been a while since i've been out with my camera. (life and all.) anyways, I'm hoping to get back to it as soon as I get out to california in January. These are just a few of my favorites, most are with natural light, as that's my favorite to work with. I'm always open to critiques and ideas! 0 players like this post! Like? |

These are gorgeous Hirveren! There's honestly not much to critique. the lighting on the owl would be a little better if it shone on his face or if it was more dramatic/intentional for it NOT to be lighting his face, but clearly you are working with a wild animal and cannot tell it to "please turn your head and tilt your chin a bit" lol. :D I'd be impressed with myself just for getting them in focus. :D Fantastic work catching such lovely subjects! What camera do you use? 0 players like this post! Like? |

Thank you Cerrates! Now that I look at it you're right It would have been nice to have his face in the light, that's something to definitely work towards in the future. (perhaps with the correct patience.) I've been using a Nikon D300 since 2009, way over due for an upgrade. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Hirveren, those are truly amazing shots! I don't think there's any advice to give! O: The pictures are nicely focused, yet un focused in the backgrounds. And you've defiantly done good using rule of thirds! (is that what it's called? I have take a break from photography so!) Where it's at say, the side instead of straight on. But yeah, I agree with Cerrates, the lighting on the face could be better, but the fact you got such a great shot of an owl? I'm so jealous! I would love to get a shot of an owl one day! ;3; Oh and wow, that is an old camera! I use the Sony Alpha NEX-5 but I will be upgrading to either Sony Alpha NEX-7 OR mostly likely, one of the Canon EOS's maybe 1200D or 70D depending on how much money I can get together! Btw, guys, I'm thinking of doing a raffle or a contest for the clan soon, what would you guys like to see? :D 0 players like this post! Like? |

thank you! I as well am looking to move away from nikon and maybe dabbling with a Cannon in the future. I'll let you all in on a little secret with that owl.(; if you look closely behind him you can see the netting from where he is contained. (this was taken at a wildlife park, i believe the owl has one eye.) it was Manually focused over automatic to make the shot cleaner by focusing the front netting out. (super surprised it worked, honestly.) I'll try to sift through my flickr and Facebook to find some more pictures to pop in here sometime. Thank you guys! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Hello! This is Yuzu's side account C: Thought I'd share something Went to go to a school today, went into town afterwards, and guess what I found? A proper heavy duty Tripod! ;A; It only cost me £2.99 O: (Got it from a charity shop) Everything was there except the Bubble Level Adapter, it also came with something, that I'm not sure what it is Any ideas? 0 players like this post! Wow Yuzu that's quite a bargain! I consider anything under $200 to be a good price for a quality tripod. I honestly am not quite sure what your bonus item is there. Perhaps a small boom or maybe a double head add on? Can't quite tell without seeing it from all angles. I'm sure someone else will have a better idea. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Yeah! O: I mean, I can't say it's the best, but it seems really sturdy, and it goes realy high and really low ;A; It's perfect and a lot better than my other one which was flimsy and half the size Oh, now that's a good point O: One end does come off, and one ends twist around, does that mean anything to you? x3 Perhaps it's meant to have come with something else for it 0 players like this post! I'll try to post some of my work here as soon as I get a chance to dig through my files. I've been super busy lately so sorry about that. But for now here's a photo I got of last week's supermoon. I would have really liked to have gotten a long range landscape shot with it but where I live there's trees everywhere and no place to get a high vantage point so everything is just shooting up over a treeline and not very photogenic. The only nice tall bridge around also happens to be a prime suicide location so when I tried to do night sky shots from there I got run off by the police lol cause they don't want people on it after dark. So i just went for a close up. Would have loved to shoot this phenomenon from somewhere like the Nevada mountains though. Also apologies because this isn't the highest quality file. My internet can't handle large files and im posting from home. Sorry! 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 24/11/16 @ 22:46:23 by Cerrates (Hexapan) (#49783) |

Ooh pretty! O: I don't understand how people get photos of the moon ;; What size lense do you use? 0 players like this post! Like? |

This was actually taken with a Nikon entry level 300mm zoom lens. It's not a very high quality lens, and its designed for ASPC crop sensor cameras so it really doesn't perform perfectly on my full frame Canon but that was the best I could do with it. To get a good photo of the moon you need at least a 300mm or longer telephoto lens. (higher mm numbers have a longer "reach" but you probably already know this). Most of the really great moon photos you see are actually shot using a telescope as your lens to get a really right crop. In this photo, being taken at 300mm, the moon was originally much smaller in the photo and i have just cropped it tighter in post. To get a really close and detailed photo of the moon you would ideally want a lens or telescope in the 1000-2000mm range. 0 players like this post! Like? |
