Hope you feel better soon! Guess I'll start out topic appropriate for now. Here is what I've tentatively decided to make my ultimate goal. What're the thoughts? Too much Vitiligo? I'm biased because I adore the marks, but are heavy vit, cream group studs even in semi-decent demand? I don't really see any. ![]() |

Yeah I'm doing a lot better now :) Thanks! Wow, he's cool! The Onyx Lace is so strange, but the fact that it IS strange is what makes it look great on him. I think ultimately you should do what you want :D I can say that I would most likely use him while breeding for Pearl! I wish people didn't overlook the Cream group so much :( There are so many great bases in there... ![]() |

I admit to mostly ignoring Pearl earlier because I hate most of the golden solid fails, and with red and black based kings in the past, that's just what my prided ended up as. With it having been moved to cream I've been collecting cream girls like crazy lately though! Kinda sucked when I realized it was medium now, but hey- The few active studs deserve the cash for sticking with it through the goldens. ![]() |

I think the Golden category has also gotten a lot better with the addition of desirable bases such as Kimanjano and markings that actually look good on most Goldens, like Chocolate, Saffron, Silky, and Henna. Before those marking colors were released, your only real options for Golden were... Onyx and White, since Brown, Dark Brown, and even sometimes Cream were just the wrong shade for most Golden bases and clashed pretty badly :( There are also markings such as Mahogany (which there used to be much fewer of) and Fulvous, which also look good on Goldens. ![]() Edited on 26/08/16 @ 17:34:31 by Thalath (#41669) |

Hey everyone! I have this super tentative design for this boy who will be my heir. I think I'm in love with the idea of the design, just not the design itself? I'm not sure really....my feelings change every time I look at it. What do you think? Clicky I really want to go with a pastel color palette, but I feel like my current design is....too muddy? (I'll be using a lab test frog, since I dislike how the male version looks). I'd appreciate any feedback/advice you may have for me! ![]() Edited on 26/08/16 @ 20:52:49 by Lumina (#17720) |

I think it looks a bit less cluttered with the white roan and either celestial speckles or vitiligo 4 removed. If you don't want to remove and of the special marks though, even just without the white roan it's less cluttery looking. He also looks much nicer as a male with a Barbary, Diabolic, or Regal mane with the midnight marking. Buuut, I'm not really a fan of the tufted mane unless you're really going for a raccoon look. 'course, if you just like having a female king, mane probably doesn't matter too much. ![]() |

I'm having a hard time making it look more pastel-y and not as grey... I think it's the Ice Crackle bothering me but I definitely understand why you want it there. Either way, I think it's a really pretty design with a LOT of good markings, even if it may not be 100% what you're after ![]() |

At about 60%, the Ice Crackle gives him neat sorta purplish back. It is darker than I'd usually consider pastel with it cranked up to 100%, yeah. ![]() |

Hmm, I think you all make very good points! Now that you point those things out, I can definitely see them. I wish there was a way to add more contrast between the crackle and the rose, but white cover makes it look worse and while the white roan helped a teensy bit with that (the main reason I had it in there), it didn't really work. Since I was going the female route, I didn't want to waste a marking slot on a mane marking ^^ But thank you so much for all of your help! I'm not super attached to him specifically being my heir, just the idea I had with his design. I think it may be easier to search for another cub. I might need maroon instead of rose since I think it's a tad too dark, and perhaps some lilac markings in the mix would be nice if I could fine some. Oh, and in response to you Bezthiel, that's one pretty cool design! I may not be the best person to give advice, since I happen to biased against vit 1, 2, 5, and 7. But, putting that aside, I really do like the onyx contrast as Thalath said. The only thing is, I'm not sure I love the sepia mane with the design. While I can understand the breed only appeal, I personally think a creamier mane would work better. Also, I think the coral nose is a bit too bright for the design. I would change it to white and the eyes to sage (but that's just a small personal preference). Like this, perhaps? If you wanted the nose to be a pop of color, perhaps butterfly, apricot, or peach? And I think he still looks good with a sepia mane, so if you're attached to that, there's no real need to change it. Nevermind the stud market, though. If he's your dream boy, then you should go for him no matters what anyone else thinks. I personally would love to stud him if he ever became a reality <3 ![]() |

I'm trying really hard to come up with a new design, but I'm really struggling lately :( I used to be able to belt out pretty designs (at least, I think they are) but not anymore it seems... I'm waiting for a pretty lion to just kind of fall in my lap, which is sometimes actually pretty effective if you have no idea what you want! It's what I did with Diamante. Designing any of the bases I want the most for an heir (Sepia, Pearl, Lilac, Blush Rose) is pretty discouraging because those bases are so hard to breed... I can understand Blush Rose being hard to pass, since it has the bonus of being an applicator, but the others... ugh. ![]() |

Hn, probably try the Dudley then. I am really pretty attached to the Sepia. It's the only spot of non-white that really brought out the bronze. Russet does about the same without being so bright, now that I think of that. Sandy is a bit paler too. And then I'd probably not need the white half taking up that slot... I adore the bronze too much to give that up though. Dunno that he's my dream, which is why the stud market concerns me a little bit. He'd, hopefully, be more my money-boy so I can stop funneling 90% of my income into trying to make this guy a reality for a side account. Modeled him after a favorite character in a favorite canon, and finally just trying to breed dim lilac into the line... hopefully. If even one of the two girls I have cooperates by passing her marks and picking up a dim lilac. Haven't honestly been too serious about it though, since yeah... My last king had one hematite cub out of like 200? I know, could just buy a dust and if by some miracle a correctly marked cub comes out, I may end up resorting to it. Most other non-applicator designs I end up abandoning though, because it sometimes really does feel like there's no chance anyway. ![]() Edited on 26/08/16 @ 22:01:03 by Bezthiel (#81210) |

Yeah, Bezthiel, Diamante has had, according to his cub list, a grand total of 3 Hematite cubs out of 300+ cubs (knowing lots of them were killed/chased/etc.) :/ NCL marks may be the way to go for super rare bases, since they can be applied in November and are still very good, semi-rare marks ![]() Edited on 26/08/16 @ 22:04:29 by Thalath (#41669) |

Ouch, and I thought it was my bad luck that had my king at only about a 1% chance. ![]() |
