So I made another species, but I decided to share this one! I think this is actually the first species I shared here.

The name I've got so far is Betalyn, and that's also the plural. The name might change though, it seems a bit lacking. That is supposed to be a human-ish face by the way, but I just finished reading, annotating, and answering 19 short answer questions about the entirety of Frankenstein and I'm so tired that I managed to botch it horribly. Good news, though, is that I'm done! No more Victor! No more monster! No more murder! Huzzah!

Anyway, back to the Betalyn. They're very social creatures, to the point where they will die if left alone for more than two days. Females have a long, thin, and frilly fin going from the chin to the base of the neck that helps them swim easier through fast currents. Males have "eyebrow" fins that are nothing more than a secondary sex characteristic (like long hair, facial hair, or certain heights) and the longer and more colorful the eyebrows, the more likely females will be attracted to the male. Betalyn are usually very beautiful with many colors blending together, but some are "ugly" and dull colored with few to no markings. These ugly Betalyn are ignored and usually die of loneliness as none are attracted to or interact with them.

Betalyn, while being mainly aquatic, can go onto the surface and survive for ten minutes until dehydrating and possibly dying unless they continuously hydrate themselves with quick swims in bodies of water. Betalyn can walk on two legs on the surface but are not absolutely upright like humans. They communicate through beeps and songs that range from a whisper to a shrill shriek. Males attract females through complex dances, using the before mentioned eyebrows and other body features, as the female sings. Females attract males through their singing ability. The longer and sweeter they can sing, the more likely a male will initiate a mating dance. Betalyn may befriend humans if desperate for companionship.

It's been quiet around here lately. Has anyone done anything productive with their universes? I know I haven't. I'm gonna finally start that damned comic I've been putting off for so long! I never actually did a comic before so I guess I'll just stitch each part together in one picture, make each page a sequence.

Crow, good luck with the comic! I've tried to do comics before too, but have only ever gotten like one, maybe two, pages done before I give up. I also have been meaning to do one for awhile.

I've been working on maps, countries, and such. Here's a WIP of one of the countries:


I have so few stories that actually take place there though. Kinda makes me want to make up some for that reason

Nice, good luck everyone! It's like 9:00 because I put it off more. Dammit, why am I like this? I'm just praying now that I don't get any more horribly long projects like Frankenstein. Seriously, I had no time for any drawing, unless I drew in the morning. Now I can actually do art stuff now, but starting is always the hardest part because I have no idea where anything will go!

Somehow I managed to do this with now going on 23hrs without sleep

I "borrowed" the paw from the piece posted earlier of Mariet, but other than that, this was all from scratch, which is weird for me lately, since I've been reusing base sketches over and over again.

I've had this guy's design done before, but I decided to redo it mostly, and I'm much happier with it now He's a more minor character, but all things considered, he has probably one of my favorite stories for OCs I've made.
