Private RP between myself and 32475 Star Log Date: April 3rd, 2537 Mission: To scout for new worlds Number of Occupants: 100 Crew Log Author: James Grant Months ago, we launched into space on a scouting mission for a new world to plant Earth residents on. Our own planet is dying, and we need to find a location to transfer to. The goal is to locate a planet similar to our own world. So far, we've located nothing. There have been stars, planets and suns and moons, but nothing of suitable living. The mission has grown desperate, and I fear that my sister and I will never find a place to truly call home. Will we be lost out here in space forever, I wonder? Will we ever see home? Supplies, at this time, are in a good status, but how long will they last? The past several days, we've had many emergencies, especially in the engineering room. The Core has been failing for some time now, and the causes are currently unknown. To go back to Earth would be a death sentence for us all. We must find a place to land our ship... I just hope the captain knows what he's doing.... That was the last Star Log that James would get to put in. Just as he was finishing it, the alarms began to ring, and something exploded upon the ship. It was jarring, and had him falling out of his seat with a grunt. The man shook his head a bit, stood to his feet. His sister, he had to find his sister. Over the intercoms, one could hear the captain speaking. "This is your Captain speaking. An evacuation order has been sent out. Calmly make your way to the pods, and abandon the ship. I repeat, an evacuation order has been sent out." Paling a bit, James was quick to sprint down the hall to the Women's quarters. He was screaming, shouting, for his sister. Where was she...? Little did they know that this would be a new start for them.... Character SheetsView and Post Character Sheets![]() |

Ngea looked at Adlaide who seemed to be starting the shifting process. Chances were that it wouldn't be fast enough. Her stomach recoiled at the mere thought but she couldn't leave Mordecai to fight them all... The faster the siblings could move the easier it would be for Ngea to leave them and help Mordecai. She ran her thumb down the edge of the blade then sighed tucking it back away. Then she turned to James. "Do you trust me?" She said her voice just above a whisper. Adlaide was close to shifting but James obviously was having a hard time. Her voice choked in her throat, she figured this sort of action would cause the siblings to not trust her much later. Either way it would probably be the only way for them to survive. Adlaide was so close, to shifting she could feel it. The memories were flooding now, a overwhelming sort of wave that was more than encouraging. Her favorite memories, like the one where her mother had been playing with the both of them. The memory was slightly foggy and was from Adlaide's younger years, but the memory was still sweet and easy enough to remember for her. ![]() |

James opened his eyes, looked up at Ngea with a confused expression. What did she mean by that? He did trust her, yes...but what was she going to do? "...Of course..." What was her plan? What was going on in her mind? He could see some form of gears turning. An ear flicked, he glancing over at his sister momentarily before forcing himself to look away. That was just... That made him want to throw up. Not much did that for him, either. THe brute was usually pretty tough, but this was jsut...disgusting. ![]() |

"Okay then... hold out your arm. The one that Mordecai bit." This would be as bad as the first bite she knew. But it was the only way she could see right now. A glance towards the direction where Mordecai was fighting made her grit her teeth and shake her head. She brought out the dagger again this time keeping it hidden away. If James knew what she was about to do or even if he saw the dagger he would end up hurting the both of them. When a dagger was pressed against the wound which caused the initial shift, in the end it would cause that being to return to it's original form. In this case the siblings would go back to being in to their human state. Of course they'd still be wolf-folk, and this was just a painful way to control the shift. Mordecai hadn't been there for Ngea's first shift, and she had been glad about it. She had also promised herself that she would never let anyone know about what had happened or the events that lead up to the action which caused her to shift. Adlaide was beginning to shift now, and fairly quickly. It wasn't the flawless way that Ngea and Mordecai shifted, but she would learn that soon enough. ![]() |

He glanced then towards Adlaide again, a face made at the moment. James, after a hesitant moment, offered his arm towards Ngea. What was she going to do? He didn't like the look she was giving him, but there was something she had about her... James honestly would have trusted her with his life. Did he know what was coming? No, but it surely couldn't be so bad, could it? He hadn't any idea what was in store...and Mordecai was fighting a losing battle out there. ![]() |

Her heart beat stuttered in her chest and she lowered her head. "Forgive me..." She whispered before driving the dagger against James' arm. She pressed the point against the scar where Mordecai's bite had landed. She twisted the dagger with a sharp motion then withdrew quickly. Already the shifting was beginning to take place. She turned towards Adlaide and found her sitting dumbfound and as her human self. Ngea's eyes fell then she leaped towards the entrance, the bloodied dagger gripped in one hand. She couldn't ever imagine that they'd think of her the same ever again. Her brow furrowed and she dove into the fight. "Mordecai? The siblings will be ready to go soon... why'd you start the fight without me?" She spoke over the din of the battle. She was trying to act as she usually did... but the false front wasn't working. Adlaide glanced down at the clothing, somehow they had slimmed down to fit her human self as well. She blinked and stared towards the fight going on outside. She then glanced at James only to gasp and glance away. The shifting process wasn't pretty if done any slower than the snap of fingers. ![]() |

James had not expected that. The sharp cry had alerted the other vampires to more being inside. Mordecai practically pounced one of them. "What'd you do, Ngea? I've never heard a shift causing that noise before." She was obviously upset, but over what he hadn't a clue. The woman was usually calm, level headed. Here she was not. She wasn't herself... James though, was definitely going through that awful shift. It wasn't fun, and it hurt terribly as it had the first time. BUt, at least it had worked. There wasn't much that could be said against that.... ![]() |

Ngea shook her head. She didn't know exactly what to say, but she wasn't going to tell Mordecai not now... She turned her head towards the dark back of the cavern then returned her attention to the fight. Her face was grim and worry streaked her usually calm and collected features. The siblings would be able to run now, and it'd be best not to fight any harder or longer then they had to. "We need to get to that other position right now." She half yelled. "Do you think you could hold them off for just a bit longer while I get them on the move?" Adlaide stood slowly and stared at the entrance. Her mind was still struggling to understand what had happened. She didn't even know what to think. What had happened? Why had James cried out? What had Ngea done? ![]() |

"Of course," he called back to her. "Get going, I'll keep them distracted!" Mordecai wasn't going to be made into chopped liver over this. All the while, that young girl hadn't even moved once. SHe was obviously terrified of the one holding her captive. With only about five vampires to fight, he stood a better chance at this point. "Get them going! I'll join you when I can, Ngea!" ![]() |

Ngea bounded back into the cavern and glanced over the siblings. She didn't look either one in the eye but motioned towards the entrance. "We need to get out of here... now preferably." Her voice was low and pleading, not the dominant warm and yet chilling voice she usually used. Her shoulders were somewhat sloped and her usually straight and powerful posture. She obviously was feeling horrible about what she had done. She'd have to tell Mordecai eventually, maybe even disappear for a little while and let him handle the situation for a little while. She could always help from the sidelines helping where she could... Ngea figured she'd hardly be able to face James the same way again. For some reason her heart thudded extra hard at the thought but she couldn't exactly place the reason or what the general emotion was. Adlaide stared at her warily. She moved swiftly towards the entrance, each step feeling great. How amazing it was to be human again. She nearly forgave Ngea of whatever trespasses she had committed as she moved but then narrowed her eyes. ![]() |

James flexed his human hand, held teh spot she'd cut a moment before he got up, and just hugged Ngea. Did they do that here? "Thank you..." That was when he leaned down, grabbed his sister's hand, and nodded to their current leader. She had to lead on, because he knew that running blindly was extremely dangerous. They couldn't afford to do that, not once. If they did it, they'd be in trouble, really. And the last thing needed was Mordecai's current fight being a waste. ![]() |

The sudden enveloping hug nearly surprised Ngea out of her wits. Though she quite appreciated it, the thank you had her somewhat confused. She mentally shrugged the thoughts away then started from the cave, not afraid to use brute force to get past the offending night-folk. She moved quickly each step something between a run and a sprint. Sure in her human state she was still somewhat slow, but they might loose sight of a dark wolf in this dim lighting. Her eyes were fixed ahead and she couldn't quite help but think back to what she had said to Adlaide. It had sounded cruel, even to her own ears but it was completely necessary. Adlaide followed along swiftly, wondering about the hug James had just given Ngea. Why had he said thank you? Hadn't she just cut him? She was somewhat confused but didn't let her thoughts get in the way of quick locomotion. As they ran from the cavern she couldn't help but shoot a grateful gaze towards Mordecai, she doubted he'd catch it, but still. She was entirely grateful to the wolf-folk. Right then he was risking his life to get their sorry hides off to a safer location. ![]() |

Indeed he was. Mordecai didn't catch their gaze, no, but he kept the night folk busy, kept them from running after the others. Adlaide and James had to live, to survive, and Ngea was the only one who currently knew where to go in all honesty. The truth was that she knew these lands, and they did not. Simply put, really. All James could do was hold onto his sister's hand and lead her along after the wolf woman in front of them. Had she cut his arm? Yes, but had she not...he'd never have been able to shift. Unlike Adlaide, James couldn't remember many good memories of their parents... The orphanage hadn't been kind to them, and he'd had to grow up fast for his sister's sake. ![]() |

Ngea kept on going, not glancing back once to see if they were close behind. They would have to keep up, and if they didn't they would die. Either way she wasn't looking forward to seeing those evil creatures behind them. She let out a huff and continued on sprinting towards the safest place they could be. Adlaide was foolish enough to glance back once or twice, only to give a little squeak and race forwards harder than before. She only hoped the terrible underbrush wouldn't trip her up, she could be so clumsy at times. The thought distracted her for a moment, her hand slipped from James' and she ended up collapsing in the underbrush. She gave a low grunt and quickly was up again, racing onwards. This time, her brain was at work, racing along at the same speed as her legs. She glanced over her shoulder once more and shook her head. The idea was ridiculously dangerous, though it would buy them all a little time to get to safety. Besides, Adlaide knew she wouldn't be able to run for much longer... or maybe she could. Running certainly did feel a little easier than it had when she was simply human. Still she figured everyone would appreciate having it be a little easier to get to safety. ![]() |

James had only paused a fraction of a second before his sister was back up on her feet and running again. He didn't have the time to take her hand, but he refused to go on further than she. He could see Ngea, hear her, despite how far ahead she was compared to them. This...being a wolf...was strange. It was a foreign concept, one he had thought would never be possible, to be honest. The doctor had been bitten...yet he hadn't turned. It had just helped build up his immune system, and he'd died shortly getting his book published. Who knew what from. However, time would only tell if Mordecai would be catching up to them... It was going to be a tough race... ![]() |

Ngea glanced back as she heard their footsteps sound a little quieter. "Keep up, you guys. We'll be there soon." She slowed her pace in the slightest, not wanting them to drop out of sight. Once they got to that position it would be terrible, she'd have to sit and wait for Mordecai's appearance. Hopefully just Mordecai's. Adlaide darted to one side, her footsteps gradually falling quieter as she dashed away. She knew James wouldn't hear as he was beginning to look thoughtful himself. She slowed her pace and eventually stopped to the left of where they had been running. Her keen senses could not detect the footsteps of the Night-folk, partly silent amongst the sounds of the night forest. Somehow she had recovered the telescope she had roughly crafted earlier and was pulling it from her pocket. Instead of holding it to her eye she quickly dissembled it, taking the shards of mirror to craft some sort of distraction which may even scare the Night-folk into retreating for even just a mere second. They were approaching quickly, their footsteps growing louder as a few of them went after Ngea, James and herself. Gritting her teeth she set to work quickly soon fashioning a rough flash light like instrument using a spark and the mirror shards. She flashed it down the path, the numerous shards honing in the small dot of light to make it feel extremely hot. In other words, Adlaide had just fashioned a very clumsy and old fashioned laser. The Night-folk avoided the day and hated any sort of heat. The bright light would not only half blind them but also be very warm. ![]() |
