Private RP between myself and 32475 Star Log Date: April 3rd, 2537 Mission: To scout for new worlds Number of Occupants: 100 Crew Log Author: James Grant Months ago, we launched into space on a scouting mission for a new world to plant Earth residents on. Our own planet is dying, and we need to find a location to transfer to. The goal is to locate a planet similar to our own world. So far, we've located nothing. There have been stars, planets and suns and moons, but nothing of suitable living. The mission has grown desperate, and I fear that my sister and I will never find a place to truly call home. Will we be lost out here in space forever, I wonder? Will we ever see home? Supplies, at this time, are in a good status, but how long will they last? The past several days, we've had many emergencies, especially in the engineering room. The Core has been failing for some time now, and the causes are currently unknown. To go back to Earth would be a death sentence for us all. We must find a place to land our ship... I just hope the captain knows what he's doing.... That was the last Star Log that James would get to put in. Just as he was finishing it, the alarms began to ring, and something exploded upon the ship. It was jarring, and had him falling out of his seat with a grunt. The man shook his head a bit, stood to his feet. His sister, he had to find his sister. Over the intercoms, one could hear the captain speaking. "This is your Captain speaking. An evacuation order has been sent out. Calmly make your way to the pods, and abandon the ship. I repeat, an evacuation order has been sent out." Paling a bit, James was quick to sprint down the hall to the Women's quarters. He was screaming, shouting, for his sister. Where was she...? Little did they know that this would be a new start for them.... Character SheetsView and Post Character Sheets![]() |

(Hey, sorry for the late reply. Been super busy, and then I got extremely sick yesterday... T.T) James smiled a little at the sudden streak of courage his sister had found. He opted to help her, glancing towards Mordecai and the little vampire that was carefully tucked away in his curled up form. The young woman clung to the brute, as if the sun would simply turn her to ash. It could kill her, yes...within a matter of minutes if they weren't careful. She'd just need to grow stronger, and then she'd have a better chance at enduring whatever the days and nights threw at them. Poor thing looked so cold, though...shivering as she was like that. "You think she'll be okay...?" James then asked Addy softly. ![]() |

(Awh, I hope you're feeling better?) Adlaide glanced at James. "She's Ngea's sister, there is hardly a chance she won't be okay. She's scared and without memories, the only thing she knows is that Mordecai is her new master." She shrugged. "I think she'll end up just fine. The night-folk are very strong. Just not when it comes to the sun, or any extreme heat." She glanced the vampire girl's way and sighed softly. (Sorry for the short, I'm currently finishing up some chores.) ![]() |

(Yeah, feeling better. Haven't tried eating yet though due to an upset stomach, though. And no worries. x3) "Not entirely true," Mordecai gently interjected. "A night-folk who is well over a thousand years of age can actually withstand extreme heat and daylight. The man you face just moments ago is one such creature... Legend has it he was once the Elf king, in fact. No one knows if that's true...but it's said his own son rose against him in battle, and drove him off. That son was said to have been lost in the war, once it came to a close...but, as I said, legends are just that... THere may be some truth to it, but it's hard to tell. Whoever that man was once is now gone, a distant memory." That had Jace frowning a bit. He sighed, though, shook his head. At least they had a fire going, food carefully turning on a spit he'd made. It was time to make a few spears... ![]() |

(Do you have some plain crackers? They don't bother the stomach so much.) Adlaide tipped her head to one side, then nodded. "Well, as far as I'm concerned, being well over a thousand years doesn't look good on anyone. Even night-folk." Her nose wrinkled some and she continued to clean up the space. She started to hum some tune, a familiar one to most humans and a cheery tune. She didn't always hum, however when she was in a good mood and deep in thought occasionally a tune might make it out of her head. Finally when she was satisfied the area was cleaned up enough she crouched near the fire and glanced out towards where the sun was blazing brightly. She took in a breath and a soft smile found it's way onto her features. Resting gently, almost like a downy feather, upon her lips. Ngea did not stay out long, she'd soon returned with a animal, still warm in one hand. There was no scent of blood on it's fur and for some reason, it was apparent it hadn't been killed by a wolf's jaws. There seemed to be no damage to the silky furred critter that closely resembled a large squirrel. She kneeled near her sister and Mordecai and held it out. "It's not the greatest thing, but I think it will be okay?" Her voice was soft and tender, her eyes rimmed with kindness which had never been apparent until now. ![]() |

(Yeah, I ate some last night. Just had some breakfast (very late breakfast) so we'll see how that does.) The young vampire tenderly reached out for what it was her sister held. Was this...for her? It didn't seem to be dead, honestly. Perhaps it was just unconscious... That made sense, right? Was this creature for her then? Whatever was it for...? Mordecai could only give a soft chuckle at the newborn's reaction. She looked as if she were playing with fire, which was not the case. ![]() |

Ngea shot a look Mordecai's way. She'd hated being laughed at when she'd been newborn, luckily she hadn't been stable on her feet or chances were she would've bitten her friend. Ngea returned her attention to her sister. "This will help you be stronger, trust your instincts sis." She murmured softly, her voice quivering slightly. Adlaide watched them, her eyes reflecting the flames as they danced. She was glad she'd been able to shift, and that she was a wolf-folk rather than a night-folk. Those people were stuck looking very much like mummies the rest of their lives, they had no way to shift or look even partly like they had looked before. Though Addy had never really cared much about her appearance, she wondered how this girl felt. She looked as though she just wanted to curl up and fade away. She understood that feeling, sometimes being able to just disappear would be amazingly helpful. At least, it feels as though it would be amazingly helpful. Adlaide's memories turned back to the time when she had been bullied some for being a bit of a book worm. Often times she'd curl up away from most other people and hide with a book, half wishing she could just disappear or perhaps be pulled into the reality of the story. ![]() |

Mordecai never laughed at, to be honest. He'd laughed, yes, when Ngea had been a pup, but it was always with. He recalled his own memories of youthfulness, when he was uncertain, unsteady. The brute gave Ngea a gentle nudge at the look, and then aided to encourage the young woman in doing what instinct demanded. It took her a moment, but it wasn't long before there was the noise of fang piercing flesh. At least the creature was unconscious in her hands, or she'd have freaked out... James himself just watched a few moments, a soft sigh given. He then looked outside, heard what appeared to be a distant howl. It had caught his attention, and what surprised him was Mordecai's growl. That wasn't good, was it...? ![]() |

Ngea's eyes flashed as she glanced over her shoulder towards the sound of the distant howls. "How are those spears coming along?" She asked, rising from where she had knelled and moved over to the fire. She poked at the meat with a stick, watching as the juices dripped down into the sputtering flames. Her eyes lifted and she glanced back over at her sister. She gripped the stick tightly her knuckles going white, then jerked her gaze back towards James. Chances were they'd need those spears sooner rather than later. Who knew what other things could be lurking nearby. They'd have to build some sort of shelter, maybe even a wall or something to keep the dark creatures out. This was going to be a more permanent position if they got it beefed up soon enough. Adlaide tore herself from her thoughts, her mind whirling at the mention of the spears. They could also create some bolas and a few other crude, but effective, weapons. She found herself frowning as she looked at the meat, she could smell it cooking, but chances were it wouldn't be done for a little while yet. For some reason, she could tell this by the smell. She turned her head, glancing back up at the glorious sky. She felt as though a stone were sitting in the pit of her stomach at Mordecai's growl. That couldn't be good. If he were growling at his own kind. She sat back, eyes glancing around for something to do. There wasn't much she felt like, unless she wanted to start making better spearheads, or at least sharpen the ones James had already crudely formed. She moved over there, picking up the shaft of one spear and setting it across her knee, it couldn't be that hard could it? All you had to do was carefully chip away the blunt edges to form some sharp edge. ![]() |

It would be, yes, a good spot to honestly train the newborns, even the young vampire. Mordecai bristled then, jaws clicking shut. He usually dind't have a problem with his own kind, but something was obviously going wrong here... What it was, currently, was a mystery. Wolf-folk were able to be captured and used, yes, but the night-folk, but it was often the pups they stole, or weak ones. This was something else entirely.... "Got a few spears going, but I'd feel much safer if I had a rifle..." James grunted. Alas, he did not. There were no such things here as firearms and cannons. It was bows and arrows, swords and shields, and the like. They'd need to learn how to use such weaponry. ![]() |

Ngea's brows furrowed and her eyes narrowed slightly. "A rifle?" The word was foreign and strange in her ears. When she said it, the word was given a exotic twist her thick accent giving the generally boring word a wild spin. She shook her head. "I've not heard that word before." Whatever it was, she could guess it was a weapon way better than a spear. She returned her attention to the meat on the spit, turning it now and then, glancing at her sister every once in a while. They now had three newly-borns to train, some of them were already showing promise, others... had her worried. She muttered something under her breath, then quickly braided her hair, her fingers nimbly twisting and placing it. There, much better. She straightened and glanced around the area, the wolf-folk would have to grow used to shifting, and her sister would gradually have to grow used to spending time in the light. They'd all have to learn how to fight, and use new tactics which could be nearly considered cruel. She let her mind fall to oblivion as she sat, thinking of all that needed to be accomplished if they even wanted to hope they could save this world. Adlaide chipped away at one of the spearheads, carefully knocking off the dull edge to hone it in to a sharp blade. She suddenly remembered the pair of antlers Ngea and James had brought back, instantly she sat up taller and glanced around for them. Spotting them she gave a little smile and a nod. Depending on how hard the horn was it could easily become something extremely useful. Perhaps even a weapon of sorts with the right cut and application. As for that idea about the bolas, she'd get started on that right away. That'd not only be useful for stopping enemies but also for hunting as well, tangling limbs to easier catch the creature. With the right weight of stone and the best of rope the bolas could easily turn deadly, especially with a trained hand. A staff too, could easily become a weapon, there were many tall straight trees about perhaps she could work on something like that. Ngea had a knife, but their arsenal didn't contain much. Sure they had two amazing warriors sticking around, but Mordecai was injured and Ngea was still a little on the emotional side. ![]() |

It was certainly a mess alright. James, after a moment, though, explained what a rifle was to Ngea. But, as he spoke of it, it gave him an idea... "How many trees around around this place...?" he then asked. If memory served him, he could easily make a bow, or two, from it. He'd always been an excellent hunter, so why not use a bow? That'd give them the advantage of range, as it had with their enemy last night. He'd had the advantage of range, and cover. Here, they had the height and fortress, of sorts. It was a brilliant idea for the time being. They could place traps, make weapons...those horns that Adlaide was looking at could make fine tools as well, or whatever it was she was thinking of at the moment. A fishing hook was one such thing they could use from the antler, or part of it anyway, and it'd give a varied diet that they'd need to survive. Well...except for Ngea's sister... ![]() |

"A large number. Many of them silverwoods." The slightest smile slipped across Ngea's face. Silverwoods in this world were like yews in the other world. Perfect for bows, just flexible enough to be great bows. Her father's bow had been one made of silverwood, and it was one of the fastest, most reliable bows out there. "Why do you ask?" She too had been pondering the use of a bow in these parts, she just... didn't know if she'd be able to do that sort of thing so soon. She carefully removed the meat from over the fire and held it up, the fragrance wafting gently. "Foods done." She said quickly, a quick exit for her thoughts. Adlaide set the spear aside and jumped to her feet. "Thank goodness, I'm extremely hungry." Suddenly a thought hit her, square on. Long ago, one of her favorite terms to use was "I'm starving" and now as she thought about it, this world presented the option where she actually could starve. She rolled her eyes at the thought and moved over towards the delicious smelling meat. ![]() |

"Might I borrow your knife?" James then asked. "I've got an idea. I...what's a silverwood?" He had no idea what they looked like, so he'd need to tell the difference. If the silverwood tree was going to be useful, it'd be nice for it to be a bow, yes. As for her father's bow...? Well, it'd be hard to tell... Only time would tell if they had truly survived or not, but one could only guess that answer was no. For now, though, thoughts that dark were not present in his mind. James needed to keep focused if he was going to be of any use to these people here. There was no need for him to grow gloomy and depressed. ![]() |

Ngea slipped the knife from it hidden sheath and held it by the blade. She let her eyes slide over the silvery blade then up the elegantly curved handle. She hesitated a moment then closed her eyes tightly, this had been a gift from her mother, one which she obviously treasured. Her golden eyes flashed open and she held the handle towards James, her eyes narrowed slightly. "Just... be careful." She said, her tone softly implying she would skin him alive if he misplaced it, or somehow messed it up. She started to pull the meat apart, handing out bits to whoever was there to take them. "Silverwood are the best for making bows. The wood is not only beautiful but has just enough give to make some of the best bows out there." She took a nibble of meat then glanced at Mordecai. "Speaking of silverwood bows, you ran into your old night-folk buddy, was it a silverwood bow he had?" Her mouth could hardly form the words. The vampires were no good at making bows, perfectly good at shooting them but terrible at actually making them. If it was a silverwood bow, she almost wondered if it was her fathers. Chances were it wasn't, but still, she could dream of someday possessing it. ![]() |

"Yes, but it's an old bow, too...enchanted with magic. He made it himself before the days of his time as a vampire. Apparently, he was supposed to pass it down to his son..." Mordecai shrugged at that, though, and watched as James soon moved off. FOod was important, yes, but he was far busier doing other things. His mind was upon a different task, and he'd bring back supplies, too. That wouldn't hurt. The dagger, though? Safe with him. He'd keep it well. ![]() |
