So... since Tufted can be used to breed for Royal and many of my girls have it, I've been tweaking my base design for the next king, and so far I've got this:



I'm still unsure what marking to use to "soften" the crackle, what do you guys think of this?

That's because it has Rose Pelage over it at a low opacity. Otherwise it'd look very dark. I was thinking whether to try for it or just use Golden Mantle, but so far everyone I've asked had liked the "red" one the most xD

A soft, low opacity golden marking might look nice!

He's handsome, but I always crack up at the "Determination" decor because it always looks like the lion strongly disapproves of something. He looks like he's severely judging us all!

But will it pass well to cubs or look funky? I think it will probably look good on most goldens

And that's true, Toradaeus. Markings can be such a pain. Tau has dark brown wisp which blends nicely with his markings, but if the cubs don't get the right ones...it looks a bit weird!

It depends if the opacity is inherited or not, but the funky look would happen with any other marking, too. Here's the same design with the Golden Mantle at the best opacity, and the previous one with Rose Pelage for comparison:



I like the mantle the most... but pelage is one of my favorite markings...

If I want to purchase the things I want... then I'd need to get the pelage at first try. I guess I'll go with the Mantle :'D
