yeah..i mean why have ochre gnawrock and saltlick for markings and mane colors but not one for bases?
I get the argument that "oh the bases will be become less valuable." but sometimes its not about rarity, and more about wanting a lion to look like how you want it to.

Getting the base you want is a big goal of lioden. A 100% guarantee of a base passing is risky and would affect the game as a whole, not just people's personal feelings and what they really really want. Think about how different it'd be if there was an items that 100% pass a mutation. We'd have so many pons I'd be ridiculous. I do like this idea, but I think it should just slightly increase the chances of a parents base passing. Maybe by 10%? We gotta keep a couple challenges in the game.

I agree with Wolfie, the bases passing as soon as you want it would kinda take the fun away from trying to pair for that base. I’m not sure if that made sense. I just don’t think it should be a 100% chance.

As a new player who managed to get a Celestial base, never had any items to increase how many cubs she gives per breeding, and she's getting older and older not passing that base...

Yes. Please. Not 100% one, but give us a CHANCE.

Trying to get a base to pass is what makes Lioden as fun as it is. It isn't the only thing that makes the site fun, but it is a huge part of it. We already have a ton of items that we can use to better our chances at getting the cubs that we want. I don't think we need an item, at any percentage, that helps the passing of a base.

What point would there be to Combo bases? The game is supposed to be challenging, not handed to us on a silver platter just because we're willing to spend a little GB. Besides, their are a TON of applicator bases that you can purchase (not to mention the base changer in Oasis), so I don't believe the suggested item to be necessary at all.

While I understand that, having a female who just refuses to pass her base, no matter how carefully you breed her, is extremely frustrating. Upping the chances a little would be delightful.

Yet I don't think this will happen. People will likely point to Crunchy Worms and say we already can do this that way.

Oof yes, I support. My king is getting old as dust and out of the many hundreds of cubs hes had between my two accounts and everyone who's studded him, his base has never passed. I don't believe Ardor is a base that cannot be passed on through breeding so its been frustrating considering how much ardor elegance costs, for bases like his this is a definant want in game.

No support. A crunchy worm already gives a 25% chance for a lioness to pass her looks, which includes her base. Also, if we had a higher chance to breed certain bases, that would take the fun out of the game. If you breed lions with the same genetics as each other, and carefully choose breedings, its not super hard to get a rare base. My king is sunset, and has passed sunset quite a few times to anjeer, mauve, ginger and rust lionesses. Its just a matter of selective breeding, and the challenge to pass those special bases is what makes the game fun. and exciting, since you never know for sure if you will get the base you want.


In short, we already HAVE an item that increases the chance for a lioness's base, markings, etc to be passed which is the crunchy worm. As stated on the wiki for the crunchy worm: Give to a lioness before breeding to have a 25% chance to duplicate the mother's appearance (base, eyes, markings, etc.) onto one cub per litter.

Therefore, you already have an item that has a 25% chance of duplicating a favorite lioness's looks onto a cub in her litter

I agree with -Zodiac- (#11145) and the others that pointed to the crunchy worm and what not. Selective breeding for rare bases is what is keeping me around anymore, I love it. It'd be less fun when you know theres an item to make it easier. I felt the same way about the eye and marking items :/

Definitely agree with Zodiac. The market for some bases, such as sunset (look at its prices compared to skyward, CWs came out at the top of the sunset hype, and now sunsets are just about everywhere you look) has completely crashed due to crunchy worms, another item would only make it harder for users who rely on that to make their currency to feed their prides.

No support. The base market is fragile enough as is, and bases pass relatively often. For a new user it might seem low, but special bases pass far more often than, say, rosettes and really don't pass very scarcely at all- around 3% of scries is 3/100 cubs, which rounds to like 1 in 33 cubs. Anyone who plays actively is going to have far more than that amount in a king's lifespan- my friend's even had Sepia pass thrice so far in about two weeks. Base breeding as a result is really not very hard, so all this item does is tank the value of every applicator, everything BO, every combo, crunchy worms, ETC...

The market is barely holding on, we don't need to make sure to throw it off of the cliff :P

I don’t know, I feel like maybe excluding combo bases and making it only increase the chance by 5-10% ish would make a good compromise. Still a challenge to get combo bases, not a guarantee of getting the desired base, but a heightened chance.

I support wholeheartedly! We already have breeding items to duplicate markings, so why not bases as well? If anything I feel like it would revitalize the market as there are certain bases that are so hard to breed people have given up trying.

Crunchy worm does not solve this problem as it can only be used on female lions. Also, what if I want the lioness's base and the stud's markings? Crunchy worm is useless in this scenario.

I think a base pass item is necessary to balance the abysmal pass rate of certain bases, medium especially. Take Leonid for example. EVEN IF I were to breed two Leonid lions together, there is only a 2.8% chance that I will produce a Leonid cub. That is HALF the rate of a Light x Light or Dark x Dark special pairing!! Even a 5-10% increase would make a huge difference.
