NightStar was sitting next to Lionpaw as his mother and new father broke the news to him. She could see the pain in his eyes. NightStar looked at this apprentice. He was cocky, brave, and strong, but he had a good heart. NightStar decided she would be like the mother he never had, or rather, never felt. She whispered in his ear "It's going to be alright, Lionpaw." NightStar knew what she said sounded childish, but she also knew she had helped. Though that one sentence she had told him she would always be there for him, whenever he needed her. NightStar smiled softly at him.

Rosepetal looked worried for her son and held her head down knowing she did something wrong by telling him.
What if he hates her? Rosepetal padded out of camp feeling horrible. His father left her though, Sigh, this was getting complicated, what would she do?!

Lionpaw's heart and world stopped. Everything stopped. Everything froze. Rosepetal looked so happy... So happy to replace HIM... All he could do was stare at her with wide and VERY narrowed eyes, he clenched his teeth as she rubbed her cheek against him before spatting out. "Pardon me?!" He growled with disgust and watched her leave camp, a snarl on his face before he turned to Metalclaw, a look of disgust and pure terror. "YOU!" He hissed and unsheathed his claws. "HOW LONG, HUH?!" He yowled in his face before snarling in fury. "YOU HAVEN'T EVEN KNOWN HER FOR 3 MOONS!" He yowled in rage and next thing you know he smacked the tom across the face with his paws and claws out. He turned to Nightstar. "I know you're gonna lecture me and make me a kit again, but thank you." He declared and then turned to the injured tom. "AND WHATEVER YOU SAY, YOU WILL NEVER BE MY FATHER! I DON'T HAVE A FATHER!!" He growled with hate in his face. "AND ESPECIALLY, NO LITTLE, NEW, STUPID SIBLINGS!" He then started padding away from them until growling to him again. "OH AND TELL ROSEPETAL..." He hesitated but growled still before hissing. "I HAVE NO MOTHER!" He announced and then growled with fury. "NO SLUT, IS EVER, EVER! GONNA BE MY MOTHER!" He screeched out and with a long leap, he ran.. Ran far. FAR from camp.

Rosepetal curled up at the stream. Thinking about what she heard Lionpaw say. She whimpered quietly to herself.
She was a terrible cat! What if she just drowned, right there right now.
Sigh, they might care, but she'd be in Starclan where she could have her kits.

Maybe it would be good for lionpaw... He could go back to his father she supposed.
Why did Sunbeam bring him here, He knew his kit wanted to stay!
Rosepetal buried her face in her paws listening to the river.
Why did she do this?!
Why didn't she wait 12 moons or longer?!
She was frustrated at herself.
Its all her fault that Lionpaw was like that.
She doesn't suppose he'd care?
After how he reacted if she left she'd be happy.
Her father is in Thunderclan, maybe she would go there?
No, she cant... Maybe if she made it up to him.. But how?
Her son would hate her forever.

NightStar jumped up and ran after him, her condition making her wheeze and cough. When she caught up to the apprentice, she didn't yell at him. She didn't lecture him. She didn't even hiss. She simply started grooming him. She knew it would help, calm him a tiny bit. She stayed silent, only willing to talk once he talked to her. She flicked her tail. She worried for the poor thing, she knew how it felt to feel rejected, unloved, neglected. If only he would ask her if she knew.
