-LOCKED - Community Helping System, CoC update, and more! | |
Posted on 2018-03-02 10:42:05
Updates and Adjustments * Gold Beetle sales now have an automatic expiry time of 1 week from when they were first listed. Current listings that have existed prior to this update have been given an expiry date of 9th March (1 week from today). This expiry will be separate from Rollover, so it's not 7 Rollovers - it's 7 real life days. * Chat now uses standard date format. Instead of hh:mm:ss, mm/dd/yy it's now yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss. * Frequently Asked Questions can now be directly linked to, similarly to forum posts. The link is posted under each FAQ, just click on it and copy the address in the bar (e.g. http://www.lioden.com/faq.php?cat=1#1). Anyone who clicks it will be taken right to the relevant question. * A link to post directly on the Help Board has been added to the very top of the FAQ section of the game. * The price of increasing Marking Slots on lions has been reduced from 1GB per slot to 500SB per slot. Helpers and the Helper Hub We have a new Helper system in place as of today. We want to let it be known that we are deeply grateful for the Helpers that we have worked alongside for the past months and, in some cases, years. But it is time for an update to the system. From now on, we will not be hiring Helpers as part of a team. Instead, we will be relying on community-sourced help on our Help Board (formerly "I'm Lost"). A bit like Yahoo Answers, actually. Members can post for help on the board, other members can reply with helpful information. Replies to Help topics can be rated based on whether or not they offer helpful information. Over time, members can accrue a secret "Helper Rating" based on how many of their posts have been marked as helpful. But what about Helper paws? Helper Paws will be disappearing, as paws are a symbol of a handpicked team. We will instead be utilising the Community Owl badge as we recently stopped awarding it to members. The way of earning an Owl badge is to be active and helpful in the Help board. Instead of handing out an application form on an infrequent basis, we will be reviewing members' helper scores. After a certain threshold has been met, we will award the Helper Owl to members who have proven themselves to be particularly helpful. Members who have already earned themselves a Community Owl will be able to keep it in this new system. The Helper Hub will be removed and all questions will be redirected to the Frequently Asked Questions section or the Help Board. If you have a ticket open in the Helper Hub, it will be automatically marked as resolved today. If your question did not get answered, please post on the Help board! So from now on - please vote on replies to Help board posts that are useful and contribute towards providing a community-driven help system! If you need staff to clarify something for community that seems to require a check with staff, feel free to modbox your question and mention that community seems to be unclear on the answer. Code of Conduct Change With this new system, there's always the chance it could be open for abuse. For this reason, we have implemented the following into the Code of Conduct: Do not solicit Help board post votes from other users. For example: - Asking other members to vote a specific way (either Yes or No) for your post - Offering rewards for voting a specific way for your post We'd like to note that anyone who will be trolling the new system and spamming downvotes to all posts, will be treated as a troll according to CoC. the new help system sounds pretty cool, the helpers might not be 'helpers' anymore but they'll probably be posting a lot on there to help 0 players like this post! Like? |

Frankly, I wish Born Free wasn't the charity this year at all. . . they support the end of zoos, which play a major role in conservation. Good zoos are why some species survive at all. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I just don't see why this poaching event would be against zoos. Pretty important since it helps stop poaching. 0 players like this post! Like? |

The Born Free charity is pro-sanctuary and anti-zoo. As in, they want a future where no animals are publicly exhibited, since sanctuaries do not breed their stock. (With good reason, sometimes - as far as big cats are concerned, the ones in sanctuaries are usually mixes of multiple subspecies, which are used as a last resort by captive breeding programs.) I can't find it on their website, but such organizations are usually against privately owned breeding programs as well. Neither of those things sit right with me, so I can't support them. They do have a program to oppose illegal trade in wildlife parts, which I -do- think is important, but I'd rather see the site return to supporting a charity that is specifically anti-poaching again. Even if it's decided to donate to that particular program of Born Free's, it's still giving money to an org with iffy ideology. 0 players like this post! Like? |

@E-quagga So for the March event, no anti-poaching anymore? Also I can definitely tell Born Free is like PETA somehow. 0 players like this post! Like? |
