Awesome! I can hold onto him for a bit and I’ll have my media person set it up! It’s Whitney who you can go to for technical/raffle questions; I’m more the research person 0 players like this post! Like? |

Okay, here's my research! Someone check my math, if you can. I'm a high schooler, not a mathematician. jfkwkfkn Page 1 Page 2 Sources: Lioden Wiki It's... really messy, so I'll be rewriting all of that in a cleaner way at some point. dwotnyks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The important things to note are: 1) Breeding two Red Medium Countershaded Specials will give you approximately a 21% (or about 1/5) chance of getting a Red Medium Countershaded Special cub per cub born. 2) There is a 50% chance of your Red Medium Countershaded Special lioness never giving birth to a Red Medium Countershaded Special cub in her lifetime, even if you breed her only to studs of those same genetics every time she enters heat. (Check this and don't rely on it or quote me. I do not feel confident about it.)* 3) Helpful breeding items for Sunset purposes include: Angelic Blessing, Black Stallion, Crunchy Worm, Yohimbe Bark, Baobab Fruit, Buffalo Scrotum, and possibly more that I forgot to consider. 4) Getting a Sunset/Inferno still has a lower chance than getting an Anjeer, even if all parameters are the same. The difference in the statistics is not yet known. It is also not yet known if that chance of getting a Sunset or an Inferno is unequal if a Sunset and an Inferno are bred. Under this circumstance, it is still more likely that you will obtain an Anjeer, and it's even more likely that you will get a different red fail. 5) With Sunsets and Infernos, at least one parent has to have this base in order for it to pass. You MUST have one Sunset parent to get a Sunset. Breeding two Anjeers will not get you a Sunset or an Inferno; breeding a Sunset and an Anjeer will not get you an Inferno; breeding a Sunset and an Inferno CAN get you an Anjeer. In all of the scenarios, you are far more likely to end up with a different fail from within the same color group. 6) The chance of getting a Sunset WOULD be 1/15 per litter IF the chance of getting an Anjeer, Sunset, or Inferno was EQUAL. It is not. *Data inaccurate or very possibly inaccurate 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 13/05/18 @ 10:08:01 by Asher (#123346) |

Hey, I have five lions in my pride that are 'red medium countershaded' (not special) and one of them is. (anjeer.) But you can only get anjeers and infernos from breeding 'red medium countershaded special' lions? Or does it just up the chances? (Sorry for the questions, I just would like to have some more understanding so I might be a sliver of a help to this group.) :) 0 players like this post! Like? |

@Asher Wow!!! Those are some great discoveries! I don’t have time ATM to go through every calculation, but they look very valid to me! Two things; sunsets have been known to pop up in completely random breedings; in my own findings I find that this happens much more frequently that you would expect. For example, a black baseX cream base lion should not be able to produce a sunset...ever...but they can! This leads me to believe that there is something to do with markings, OR sunset may be coupled with an activation gene (I will go over this more in the mini course). Secondly; I believe that, much like primal, sunset can display itself in females, but cannot be passed down by them. If you observe a large handful of sunsets, thu are very often sired by sunset males. This would make Sunset a sex-linked (X chromosomal) double recessive (homozygous recessive) trait. Don’t worry; many of this stuff will be in the crash course :) Until then, post your findings here and then a ‘discoveries’ and ‘info bank’ thread will be made :) 0 players like this post! Like? |

@Rawhrz It ups the chances! They have to both be Special, Countershaded, and Red. Two Commons won't make a Special; two Solids won't make a Countershaded; two non-Reds won't make a Red; but Dark x Light CAN give you a Medium. I hope that's helpful. jfkwkfk 0 players like this post! Like? |

@rawhrz If you breed her to a sunset stud there is a higher chance to produce a sunset baby. Also, if you breed a red light special with a red dark special, there is a 50% that the baby will be red medium special (counter shaded). *it is important to note that ANY cub bred from a lightXdark that does not pop up with a medium base is called a HETEROZYGOTE; meaning they have the gene for both light and dark but only express the dominant trait* 0 players like this post! @FN Really? According to the Wiki (or maybe I read it wrong?), Sunset has to have a Sunset parent to appear. Maybe we should make that a focus point of research, the passing by males only thing. We can take Sunset lions (male and female alike) and track their heritages to determine if male passing is a guarantee, a tendency, or neither. 0 players like this post! Like? |

@Asher That’s what I’ve been doing actually! I’ve made quite extensive charts and I was shocked to find that it’s true! Look at this boy for an example; https://www.lioden.com/lion.php?mid=77477 0 players like this post! Like? |

@FN Hm, that's weird. The Red makes sense, because the father is within the Red color group, and the Special adds up, too. The Light is weird, though... That's awesome! Can you share the charts? I'm sure we'd also love to help further that research! Also, I forgot to mention that I have similar calculations for Cinnabar and Teardrop breeding. It's not related to this, but still! Would it also help you to add one of my Sunsets' data to your collection? Her mother was Prune (Red Dark Countershaded Special) and her father was a Sunset. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Oh, yeah yeah, heterozygous and homozygous. I didn't know lioden genetics were this deep. I know how to get certain colors and gradients and shades. I just don't know alot about what bases to breed with what to get an offspring with a specific base. (That sentence was kind of confusing) That's why I'm gonna work to find out what bases make other bases. 0 players like this post! Like? |

@Rawhrz If it helps, the source page on the Wiki that I linked helps a lot. Also, I know of some User-Created guides that help to figure that stuff out. Would you like me to link those? 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 12/05/18 @ 09:48:51 by Asher (#123346) |

My stud (the one you linked) was stat replaced that's why the genes are wonky :p his original parents included one sunset base though. 0 players like this post! Like? |
