Nakir said there would be some spirits this way as you met before entering the forest, but after a few hours of searching, you’re not too sure. Bus trades uncertain glances with his smaller companion in unspoken doubt. But he insists on persisting. He was all too familiar with the tragedy that could result form giving up on a life who so desperately needed you. A twig snaps behind the duo in the black of night and both fauns whip around in sudden terror. Old doe's tales of Shadow Cats and Cave Wolves rise to the forefront of their mind.

However, instead of the looming shadow of a terrifying predator, they notice a small Fawn. A quick giggle quickly relieves any anxiety that had steadily risen between the stags. It seems that the playful soul had been purposefully hiding while following them. What a trickster! Whoever raises this Fawn will surely be getting a few more grey hairs.

The two whitetail does arrive at the Hidden Cove with resounding confidence. Morning light had just broken through the curtain of night, illuminating dew-soaked grass blades like some fairy-tale fantasy. Nakir spoke not of where to find the Fawn; only to sit and wait patiently. He claimed that this spirit was strong-willed and more curious than any before. Minutes upon minutes pass yet doubt refuses to settle in.

A small voice speaks up from behind an aged willow, small velvet poking out before grey eyes follow. The does nod and excited smiles beam across their muzzles. The Fawn approaches slowly, pausing with each sudden movement. Every hesitation met with warm reassurances. With enough coaxing, you finally welcome the new life into your arms.

At this point, Calum was well versed in the Fawnid happenings. The odd calls seemed to be becoming almost routine and easy to pinpoint. Even Nakir spoke few words in preparation as the two helpers returned at the calling. "Be quick. Water shall be their friend or their greatest foe."

A sudden onset of panic widens both faun's eyes at the ominous warning. Not a second was lost as they delved into the forest in their grande search. It didn't take long to find evidence of the new life either; soft bleating called out from just over a hill's crest. Darlene ran to the source of distress to find her Fawn struggling at the mouth of a cave, surrounded and trapped by water that steadily rose. Luckily, the obstacle was next to nothing for both experienced fauns. Within minutes the terrified child was rescued. They'll never forget this.

The evening night was just beginning to cast violet shades across the landscape when Calum felt a familiar longing in his chest. It didn't take long to meet up with Eva again; after all, they practically lived only a few meters from one another. It was the act of finding Nakir that was the toughest.

Located not where he typically met most helpers, he was found tirelessly working in a garden at the front of his own home. In this garden there were no flowers or plants, only scattered animal remains that he buried with fervor. Eva's approach sent a jolt of surprise through the busied faun. He looked up at the two whitetails for a moment before returning to his busywork without a word. Even with a few questioning words given by both Calum and Eva, Nakir said nothing.

Frustration was beginning to build within Calum with the mysterious faun's lack of response. Until a rustling in nearby bushes silenced the helpers. A very small Fawnid stepped out from between two berry bushes, a long feathered tail flicking to and from anxiously. They seemed to be attracted to the curiosities that Nakir was up to. Perhaps he knew what he was doing all along?
