Snowpaw looked up, as Stromcub and soon after his father, Falconcry, joined them. His pelt was still touching Runningpaws side, as the snow leopard watched the two cubs play. Taking another bit of his prey, Snowpaw looked over to his best friend. Knocking his shoulder lightly into the cheetahs, Snowpaw chuckled, "You remember when we used to play around like them?", the young tom said.
The two cubs, where only several months younger than the friends where. Still it felt so long ago since the two where cubs, playing around and causing trouble in the nursery. Snowpaw had a sad smile on his face, as he saw Stormcub and Falconcry interaction, sometimes the young snow leopard still missed his parents. Taking another, final bit of his prey, Snowpaw chewed on the fish, it suddenly felt tasteless and slimy.

Snowpaw was enjoying being near his best friend and watching Falconcry talk with his son. Done eating his fish, Snowpaw stood up and was about to bury it, when a terrified scream reached his ears. Whirling around, the apprentice saw Raincub pinned to the ground. Snowpaw could not make it out, but the thing on top of the cub looked like a cat. Not recognising it though, Snowpaw sprang forward. The snow leopard reached the cubs side, pushing his shoulder into the stranger, Snowpaw knocked it off Raincub. Standing protectively over the cub, Snowpaw let out a deep growl. Letting out a yowl, the apprentice called, "Intruder, an intruder in the camp!"

Snowpaw watched as the thing turned tail and ran, he could feel the fear scent rising from Raincub behind him. As the apprentice watched the thing disappeared, he recognised what it was, the thing that had attacked the cub had been a Fisher Cat. Letting out a huff, Snowpaw turned to Raincub. Giving the cub a lick on the head, Snowpaw looked around to find Sleepysoul. Spotting the Den Mother in a corner of the camp, Snowpaw called out, "Sleepysoul, Raincub needs you!" Although he loved cubs, the young tom was completely lost, when it came to calming down scared cubs.

Snowpaw let out a sigh, as the den mother came over immediately. Stepping back, the apprentice let the bay cat look over the small cub. The snow leopards head snapped up, as the den mother addressed him, "I... I think it was a fisher cat, they're always more of them around the lake this time of year. I saw several while I was out hunting the other day, but they've rarely come this close and never into camp", the apprentice explained. Looking in the direction that the beast had run off in, Snowpaw thought that it might be a good idea to tell Emberstar. There might be a break in the wall somewhere. "I was able to get the thing off Raincub pretty quickly, so I don't think it was able to injure her that much", Snowpaw said, looking to Raincub. The little cat still seemed shaken, he hoped that she would be able to get passed this. Looking back up at the den mother, he asked, "Do you maybe want me to get some herbs from Echofrost? or get some more bedding for Raincubs nest?" Snowpaw wanted to help, "Runningpaw and I can help", Snowpaw added, pulling his best friend into this.

Black beast
The black beast cocked his head to the side, as the young cat actually answered. "Sandpaw?", the black panther said, trying out the name, "and Emberstar?", the black beast continued. So, they give their leader the 'Star' name? the black beast thought. As he looked back in the direction of the other, still unnamed cat, the black beast let out a huff. This was getting boring, maybe he could liven it up, the black leopard thought with an evil grin on his face.

Looking dead into Sandpaws eyes, his blood red eyes staring unblinkingly at the young cat, the beast opened his mouth, "I am Falconstrike." As if on cue, a Gyrfalcons screech could be heard from above. As the bird swooped down, the black leopard suddenly changed shape.

The black leopard suddenly grew bigger and its shoulders become broader, Falconstrikes muzzle grew longer and sharper. Smoke seamed to stream out of the black beasts muzzle and spread over its body, the sandy ground under the beasts paws became darked and it sunk into the sand deeper. The blood red eyes grew sharper and more vicious, still they were glaring at Sandpaw. Then the beat of wings, the Gyrfalcon landed on the right shoulder blade of the shadowy beast. The white and black speckled falcon let out a loud screech, and beat its wings intently.

A low growl came from the monster, "I... am... a.... Shadow.... Cat!", the beast declared, in a low and menacing voice. With every word, smoke came flowing out to the beasts jaws. "We were here before you and we will always be", Falconstrike declared.

The large male leopon lay on one of the sturdy branches, hanging over the camp entrance. He hated being on guard duty, other then needing to chase away some birds now and then, nothing ever really happened. Placing his head on his paws, a large yawn escaped him. His senses were suddenly on high alert though, when he heard some noise below him. Craning his neck down, the warrior spotted a small shape coming out of camp. Was that, a cub? Ashheart sprang to his paws, he needed to get down now!
As he was scrambling down the tree, Ashheart heard the cubs voice. She was talking to someone, as he reached the bottom of the tree, the Male leopon scanned his surroundings. There, just a bit in front of the cub, was a stranger. Ashhearts claws slipped out and a growl came from deep in his throat. Slowly the large leopon creeped closer, as he did he recognised the cub. It was Raincub, the warrior clicked his tongue. Moving closer the warrior positioned himself behind the cub, making himself bigger, the large leopon creeped out of the bush behind Raincub. Slowly the warrior placed his paws on either side of Raincub, with his eyes still trained on the stranger, Ashheart growled, "Raincub, what do you think you are doing out on your own?"
