I'm a little bit confused about Meteorite Shards. I've seen a lot of people complaining about using up event currency to explore, but the thing is, as far as I can tell Meteorite Shards aren't really event currency. As in, they can't be used to purchase anything but steps, so they're more like earnable energy. Am I wrong about this? I feel like I'm missing something. 0 players like this post! Like? |

you use them to get the real event currency - axion cores. Without the shards, there is no way to get cores except for the civil war storyline, which really only gives you one core per quest 0 players like this post! Like? |

Right, so then why are people upset about having to use Meteorite Shards to explore to get Axion Cores? Is it the general consensus that people would rather use their energy to get cores? 0 players like this post! Like? |

Basically, because you're not garunteed to get axion cores Its hard to get shards, already. You struggle, you use all your energy, you can take two steps in celestial explore. The way you get axion cores is by fighting the bosses. So you go and you try to fight one, and it absolutely destroys you. You do it again, same result. You have now wasted hours of your time, all your energy and you have gotten nothing at all 0 players like this post! Like? |

They're indeed an earnable energy. But the key word here is "earnable". You need to explore a lot to get enough for 5-shard steps in Celestial Explore, and then, that work all ends up nothing when you get kicked by an invincible space dragon.  Shards dont regenerate on their own like energy, you cant just relax doing real life stuff while waiting to get some more; you need to explore and find more of them. And then the battling difficulty wastes all that work, because enemies keep kicking your tail BUT your shards are gone nontheless, regardless if you loose the battle. 0 players like this post! Okay, I see. So people aren't really upset about the Meteorite Shard method, but rather about the difficulty of getting shards and then getting axion cores from that. But isn't the second storyline actually helping with that because of the large shard rewards for quests? Sorry to be so dumb, I just haven't been on here since this new event was introduced, so this is my first time. Ack, wrong account! This is my side. You do not only get Axion cores from bosses. You get *more* from bosses. Even wandering the celestial realm gives lots of Axion cores. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I got 2 axion cores from completing a quest with Menhit, so the rewards vary based on which NPC you take quests from. The wiki says that Menhit gives you 2-3 cores, 12-50 shards, and 1 abandoned nest. Apollyon gives you 1-2 cores, 25-50 shards, and 3 brown eagle feathers. I've yet to get an axion core from wandering, i did not know that! 90% of my cores are from last year, when i grinded everyday, used tons of energy, and then never bought anything lol 0 players like this post! Like? |

"Lots" is a great overstatement how much wandering celestial explore gives. Over half of all encounters are enemies, which means, more often than every other 5-shards is a waste of time. 5 shards takes at least an hour of exploring, for me. That's a lot of time. That is why Im upset. I DONT like it when my work and time get rewarded with "oh, another enemy you cant defeat, skipping it, wasting 5 shards, and then another one, 5 more wasted, and one more, 5 more down the drain, OH FINALLY A NONBATTLE ENCOUNTER but it gave no axion cores, minus 5 shards for nothing" 0 players like this post! I agree with Hyena (i hope you don't mind the nickname), I explored a ton last year and ended up with 60 shards I used those 60 chards this year, and how many cores did i get? 4. i got 4 cores. i now have no shards left. from the entire month of july last year. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I'm fairly new and am doing this event for the first time. I joined last November/December. I have loved all the events up to this one. This one is as confusing as anything and I'm lost. Why did I chose a challenge to reduce my karma? I had no idea. My explore just isn't giving me the chance to be nasty and I am NOT killing my cubs. I killed one to see if this gave me any points (it gave -5) and that was enough. According to the game I get -5 karma per kill!!!!! So 9 more to kill.... No way. The tree is barren enough as it is. And I've just used all my meteorite shards in the celestial explore getting my butt kicked. I didn't even notice they were depleting! I ain't going there again. And if I lose out on bases/markings/decor then so be it. And when does the invitation arrive for the Journey to Vredefort Crater? And where is it? And do I bother? Am I going to fail at that too? Me no likey!!!!!!  0 players like this post! Like? |
